Hi everyone.

I'm a midwife hopefully moving to Melbourne soon. It is proving difficult to get a job. I preferred working in public maternity but it looks as though I won't get sponsorship as budgets are low. Does anyone know about agencies that sort out jobs for you and any opinions about private versus public.

I am a bit bewildered. Any help would be great.

Eastern Health is a large group of public hospitals- covers Box Hill, Angliss, Maroondah, Peter James, Healesville hospitals. They advertise positions on their website. Box Hill has a large maternity section and a smaller one is at the Angliss- very small one at Healesville

Ramsay Health run a few private hospitals. I have been in their hospitals and the staff always seem happy. In fact I have recently been in one and was in there about 14 months before and the same nurses were still there. So must be ok. Southern Health, Peninsula Health, Barwon Health, Western Health all post vacancies on their web sites.

Epworth Hospital is a large private hospital.

St Vincents Hospital

Royal Womens

Royal Melbourne

Monash Medical Centre

Geelong Hospital

Cabrini is a large catholic hospital
