1. I'm finding it impossible to find midwifery jobs in Melbourne. Most jobs are in Sydney and NSW. I really want to go to Melbourne. Does anyone know why this is, ie no jobs in Melbourne? Is Australia been hit by the recession badly?
 2. Hi everyone. I'm a midwife hopefully moving to Melbourne soon. It is proving difficult to get a job. I preferred working in public maternity but it looks as though I won't get sponsorship as budgets are low. Does anyone know about agencies that sort out jobs for you and any opinions about private versus public. I am a bit bewildered. Any help would be great.
 3. Hi everyone, I'm hopefully moving to Melbourne in July 2013 and trying to get a good idea on maternity hospitals in Melbourne. I work in the UK and I was wondering about staffing levels. Over here I think it is very under statffed, for example, postnatal ward where I work in staffed by 3 midwives for a 29 bedded ward. Is this typical for maternity hospitals in Melbourne for both private and public? Any help would be great.
 4. Hi everyone, I'm a midwife moving from the UK to Melbourne and I can't decide weather to work in private or public maternity. Can anybody help with advice. Cheers, Louise
 5. Hi everyone, I'm moving to Melbourne next year and bringing my two cats over. I have read in some places that there is possibly curfews in Australia. Is this true? Can any body help answer this? I asked my vet in the UK and they have never heard of this. Cheers, Louise
 6. Thanks so much folks. Great shout on the the expo carol. You know Google is rubbish when searching for things. The most important info doesn't seem to pop up.
 7. Hi. There's a lot of chat around forums saying not to use agencies to obtain a midwifery job, to get the job direct from hospitals. Why is this? I'm looking to get a job in Melbourne. Also, is any agencies better than others? Any advice on maternity hospitals to work in & which to avoid? A very confused and worried midwife.

Hi nicolaj,

I read your post about taking your cats to oz. I'm hopefully moving to Melbourne July 2013 and bringing our two cats. We want to rent out there but all the searches for flats and houses are saying no pets. How did you find a house? I take it I should be honest with the agency I'm renting from about the cats? I'm so worried I won't be able to find a home .

 9. HLroberts- hi, I'm a midwife hopefully getting a job in Melbourne. Did you go through an agency or did you apply straight to the hospital? I have no idea weather to get a job through an agency or not. Also, what made you chose epworth?
 10. I have been reading on some forums not to bother with agencies and get a job through the hospital you want to work at. Why is this? Are agencies not good? Does anyone have any thoughts or opinions on this. I'm a little lost.
 11. Why do they tell you not to apply to any other agency or job? Also some forums have said not to go through agencies and apply directly to hospitals. Does anyone have an opinion or thoughts on why this is?
