Lauren31 Posted April 2, 2013 Share Posted April 2, 2013 Hi, I am heading to Cairns on Friday and I'm very excited I'm wondering how I apply for Medicare as I won't have a permenent address? I will be staying in hostels and apparently it takes about 3 weeks for your card to arrive. How do I get around this as I don't know from one week to the next where I will be?! MARYROSE02 Posted April 2, 2013 Share Posted April 2, 2013 Perhaps you should physically go to a Medicare office when you arrive in Cairns to apply for your card and see what they say? Would it be that onerous to stay in Cairns for three weeks until your card arrives? Or perhaps you could get it addressed to 'Poste Restante??' in some town you expect to be in?
