I am a 25 year old female travelling with another 23 year old female. We are looking to get our 2nd year visa and would really appreciate it if anyone could recommend any farms etc where we could get this work? If not any advice on how we would go about looking for this kind of work? Will the hostels help you at all or do you need to look independently? Any help would be much appreciated

Hi, I am heading to Cairns on Friday and I'm very excited I'm wondering how I apply for Medicare as I won't have a permenent address? I will be staying in hostels and apparently it takes about 3 weeks for your card to arrive. How do I get around this as I don't know from one week to the next where I will be?! Thanks Lauren

Can you recommend anywhere we can do fruit picking/farm work in Cairns?

Hi everyone, I am travelling to Australia in April 2013and hoping to work and travel as much as the East Coast as possible.I have my WHV granted, my flights booked, my first 10 days accommodation booked at Gilligans Cairns,my Australian bank account opened. I need to get travel insurance,get my money together and transfer it etc. Anything else major that i am missing? Im trying to tie up loose ends here in the UK before i go e.g paying off credit cards and cancelling direct debits etc. All going well so far Just a few things on my mind.... 1) I am taking around £6000 and hoping this will be my safety net. Im under no illusions that i wont be spending this money at all but i want to work as soon as i get to Oz to stop me eating in to it too much. I know its very expensive in Oz as i have been before. Do you think this is enough if i am working aswell? I really am hoping to stay in Oz for the whole 12 months! 2) Where would you reccomend to travel after Cairns? 3) What is the easiest and cheapest way to travel from place to place? 4) Can i do the RSA course/exam here in the UK? 5) I currently work in an administrative based job for Her Majestys Court Service. What sort of jobs do you think i should go for in Oz? Would my current job be beneficial in any way? Should i go for office temping work? 6) How soon should i register with recruitment agencies? Is this the best thing to do or should i just go around and hand out my CV? Any help anyone can give would be much appreciated,also if you think i have forgotten things please tell me! Where is the easiest place to find regional work down the east coast of Australia? Im starting in Cairns and working my way down. Id like to do the 3 months regional work to be able to obtain my second year visa. I would like to do it as soon as possible so that its done. Thanks

Hi Everyone, Im Lauren, im 24 years old from England. I am planning going to Australia on a WHV in April 2013. I know its a while away yet but i need to have things organised as im a bit OCD lol.:err: How long before i go can i apply for my visa..just for peace of mind so i know ive got it? Does it start from when you apply or when you enter the country? If its when you apply i will have to wait till nearer the time. Im sure i read somewhere that you will be asked for a permenant address when applying for the visa but how am i to give this when i will be staying in hostels the whole time? I plan to start in Cairns and work my way down the east coast. I Have no idea how long im going to spend in each place as i dont know what each place is going to be like and how much work i will find. Also what to i do about healthcare when i am out there? Ive heard of something called a medicare card...how do i get this? Thanks guys
