fitnesstasha
We may now have to go with this visa ... Anyone experienced any pros and cons of this visa ? Thanks in advance tx
Rupert
Really the only pro of the visa is that it is easier to get the points for it, it provides an option for those struggling to get 60. Cons are that you have to live in a regional area and sometimes it is hard to find work in these areas. Which is ironic really given that the aim of the visa is to bring workers to regional areas. Petals
There is plenty of work in regional areas hence the visa, its just that it is not the sort of work that people want to do. Just reading about refugees who are living in Nhill in Victoria and they are happy there, they are working at the local poultry plant. The plant was going to have to move if it did not get any workers. So if people are willing to do anything there is a lot of work in regional areas. Rupert
I have time and time again seen people struggle to get work on this visa and to therefore meet the requirements of the permanent stage. You (general you) spend the majority of our awake hours at work, there is nothing wrong with being discerning. Not everybody is willing to "do anything" for the sake of a visa. Life is too short. So migration is all about compromise, if people are not willing to compromise and have a nice life, I say don't migrate. For the Australian country they want people to come and work in the country and do these jobs that they cannot fill here, why otherwise would they have the visa, if plenty of Aus wanted the work there would be no shortage. Its the same as when the big migration took place to the UK the people took the jobs that UK people no longer wanted to do.
Candygirl
If you intend to apply for a 489 State Sponsored, then all depending upon which state you intend to settle in, this visa could be restrictive. All parts of Victoria, South Australia and the Northern Territory are all considered as regional. If you have a relative who lives in a designated area of Australia (postcodes on DIAC) and is willing to sponsor you, then Perth is classified as a regional area (but only for family sponsored, not state sponsored).
