Guest lulum1986
Hey I was going to Oz sept 2013 but I'm struggling to save so I'm 100% going in march 2014 now. My plans are to start in Cairns and travel down the east coast go to Sydney, then Melbourne or vice versa. Just wondering at that time of the year where would be a good place to start for the weather??? Thank you xx
MARYROSE02
You will be arriving in autumn but it's much warmer in Queensland and, generally, gets cooler the further south you go. Maybe think about travelling inland rather than the coastal route - 'the road less travelled!' Get to see the 'genuine' Outback! There's nothing wrong with doing the coastal route and I guess if you are travelling on your own, you are more likely to 'hook up' with likeminded people. Rupert
I don't know if I wouldn't do it the other way around. Rather than head to Melbourne / Sydney in winter, maybe start in the south in March and work your way north. Darwin is very nice in July, whereas Sydney and Melbourne could be wet and turning cold.
