Or the ATO website has tax thresholds and rates. If you have a family you may also be eligible for tax credits.

 

Something to bear in mind is that pretty much everyone who is working has to submit a tax return, and you can claim for lots of things (e.g. mobile phone if you use it for work, mileage if you have to use your car for work, stationery & internet if you work from home some of the time, etc.). The first 2 years I did my own tax return, but this year I decided to use a tax agent instead, and it was lots easier; plus they were able to make it clear what kinds of things I could claim. And their fee is classed as tax deductible on next year's return. I know a few people who always lodge their own return, and if you're smart enough to think about your expenses I'm sure you could do without the tax agent (I just can't be doing with all the faff of completing my own return).
