Hi eveyone,

We are planning a week's holiday with our three year old and six month old sons taking a camper van around VIC/ACT and southern NSW. I'm looking for a, some interseting stops and b, tips for travelling in a motorhome with young 'uns.

Haven't got anything booked as yet but are thinking early March. where would you go?

Cheers,

David.

Hi David

We have done lots of campervan trips with 3 kids and it's been great. Most of the campervans have a table and there are two seats either side, so whilst you and the OH is driving the kids can play board games, etc. Some of the campervans also have a games console, think it was a PS2, we never needed to use ours as the kids had hand held devices anyway. Also most have a TV and DVD player so we took a box set and the kids just sat there watching TV. If we were in a rush to get to our next stop we would make sandwiches the night before and then just get them and the kids could eat whilst we were on the move. Ours had the shower and toilet but to be honest every night we were in a caravan park so we could run the aircon so we never used it.

  • 3 weeks later...

Hi we have just got back from Jervis Bay about 3 hours south of Sydney, stayed in a campsite right on the beach watched dolphins in the bay. Our three girls loved it. Booderee national park is worth a visit and it has camp sites. We are going to go back and camp in the national park. Hyams beach has white powder sand its very beautiful.

jervis bay, and hyams are definately worth a look, i would advise planning no more than 100 miles a day, or you end up feeling like a driving holiday, we found a lovely site right next to the beach in eden, nice facilities too.

dont get tied up with the facilities in the camper, as all the sites we have stayed in on our trips have had a camp kitchen and bar be's so cooking has all been done away from the camper, its a good way to meet folks and have a chat over beers too.

we booked through motorhome bookers last year, and they were the most competitive for the package, and did an early bird discount. another thing to consider, is wefound alot of companies give a discount around $200 if you pick up away from sydney, and drop off in sydney.
