Timeframe for Parent & Last Remaining Family Member Visa

Hi Guys,

 

Honestly asking you questions is a lot better than asking a lawyer. Anyway a few questions on parent and last remaining family member visa:

 

 

 

1. How long does it take for processing of Parent visa (both contributory & non-contributory) and Last Remaining Family Member?
   

 

 

 

 

1. Can one apply for another visa say visitor visa whilst parent visa application is being processed?
   
2. Can one apply for last remaining family member onshore if the applicant is on student visa at the time of application?

1. How long does it take for processing of Parent visa (both contributory & non-contributory) and Last Remaining Family Member? Contributory maybe 12 - 18 months. Non contributory maybe 10 years, LRR about 12 years.
   

 

 

1. Can one apply for another visa say visitor visa whilst parent visa application is being processed? Nothing to stop a visa application being made.
2. Can one apply for last remaining family member onshore if the applicant is on student visa at the time of application? Yes with the usual proviso that the no further stay condition is not on the current visa

How long the last remaining family member application take to process. I guess the applicant stays on a bridging visa until the application is decided? What are the rights and obligations of the applicant whilst on bridging visa e.g. work rights, medicare, centrelink, voting etc

I have already said, 12 years. If they get a bridging visa it will have same rights as the visa they bridged from, i.e. not many if that is student visa.
