hondalee12
Hi, I came here over three months ago on a tourist visa and when I applied for my 820 partner visa I got a bridging visa and applied for work rights to be removed. I applied for my tax file number. Will I be charged as a resident or a foreign resident deducting - 32.5c of each dollar earned?
Andrew from Vista Financial
Hi If you are planning on living and working in Australia then generally you will be a tax resident, have a look here to help determine your tax status: http://calculators.ato.gov.au/scripts/axos/axos.asp?CONTEXT=&KBS=Resident.XR4&go=ok If you are a tax resident ensure that the ATO have your TFN registered as such, you will then be taxed accordingly as a tax resident as follows: http://www.ato.gov.au/individuals/content.aspx?doc=/content/00322113.htm
