Showing proof of Permanent Residency

Here in the U.S you get issued a Green Card as a hard copy proof that you are a PR here. In Australia, how does it work? Like say for example a person gains PR thru 176 with SA SS, will that be visible to employers so that that person cannot try to apply for a job in NSW for example?

Basically with the old 176 and the new 190 (PR thru SS) will it say PR with 'restrictions'?

You can get a visa label inserted in your passport if you want hard copy proof of your PR status, but there is no ID card like there is for PR holders in the US and some other countries. Employers have access to a system called VEVO where they can check people's eligibility to work in Australia. It should be noted that the requirement to work in the state that sponsored you is a state requirement and not a federal one. It is a moral obligation to stay in that state for the two years. But the PR visa technically allows you to live anywhere in Australia from the moment you land.
