Private Health Cover

Hi

 

We have now been out here for four months and have just started to think about private health cover, especially now as my youngest has to be referred to an ENT Specialist and I have been told that it could take a couple of years to get an appointment!

 

Can anybody recommend a good but not too expensive Health Policy please. There is me, hubby and two daughters aged 8 and 10.

 

Also - do they cover ongoing conditions?

You could explore a private referral as well as often you can claim a percentage of the cost back through Medicare.

I have it and its ok but by and large private cover in Oz is crap compared to other countries. Even when you want the best most expensive it's still poor

I am an expat who now works for Bupa.

 

All pre existing medical conditions have a 12 month wait period so taking out cover now wont help with your daughters pre exisiting condition. It would however protect you for any new conditions or accidents.

 

I dont know if you know but you only have 12 months to take out private health insurance from the date of Medicare entitlement to ensure that you dont have the lifetime health cover loading applied to your policy when you do decide to take out cover.
