Loulouhew
Can anyone with teaching experience in Perth explain the bands when looking at stats for numeracy , reading etc . How do I find out what the different bands are e.g if they are band 6 is that good or should they be higher for a year 7 . Thanks
Bob1
For Year 7 2011 Reading Results for all Australian schools - the number of students who scored Band 4 was 4%, Band 5 15%, Band 6 26%, Band 7 28%, Band 8 18%, Band 9 9% so very few are in band 4 or Band 9. To be bang on average you want to be scoring near the top of Band 6/low Band 7 in Year 7.A school with 'good' results would have a higher % of kids above those figures in Band7-9. Poor results in a school would mean more down the bottom end. The ACARA web site has a graph of bands and allows you to see these for each year group for each school. Clear as mud?
