Guest davey5
My family and I have the opportunity to work in oz for a year. I have a disabled daughter who receives DLA and I wondered if it was possible to still receive her benefit or if it gets frozen or stopped. Either way it would not matter as it is a tremendous opportunity for her and my other children, and I think we would all love it, it was just a query. Thanks
Guest
It would be stopped iirc. You need to check the official website and do some reading, should explain it all. http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/britonslivingabroad/moneyabroad/dg_4000102
_shel
It would be stopped completely. You would need to reclaim from scratch if you returned to the UK. No telling you would get it again or if it would even be DLA then seeing as how they are replacing it. You would also be entitled to nothing similar in Australia for at least 2 years, but that is only if you were PR. If you go on a temp visa you get nothing. Even after 2 years the benefit you would get is means tested unlike DLA and if you worked you would be unlikely to get it.
