She has her NVQ 3 in Health & Social Care and all the associated certificates that go with that, first aid, manual handling/back care instructor, medications, Dementia, Alzheimer’s, food handling and more etc and is current in all. She is currently a Team Leader/Senior Carer in a residential care home in the UKwith 15 years experience and is working towards her NVQ assessor’s certificate, which should be complete within 3 months. I have read many posts on this topic going back to 2008 without much luck in anyone gaining much information. I really want a current update from those who may be doing this work now in Australia or directing to someone who does know. Will my wife require any sort of registration or qualification cross over? If so, to what? Does Australia have ‘residential care’ type homes as UK or is it a ‘visit the client at home’ industry or both? Are NVQ 3 Health & Social Carers used in Australian hospitals? What are the rates of pay? Does anyone have a job to offer her in Queensland? Can anyone direct us to an employer? All advice and experiences greatly welcomed. Many thanks. If you check out their web site under occupational title residential care worker is one of the job titles they support. Looking thru Seek.com some of the jobs advertised require registration with acwa. Tonight i also found jobs with aegis care group thru this site.
