    Do you think UK people should go for a UK based agent or an Australia based agent? 
     

    I was mostly looking at Australia based as if there are issues they can try deal with them in their own time zone.

    Just to clarify though, for example with WA I can’t see a requirement for onshore applicants to have been in Australia for a minimum of say 6 months. So I could theoretically get a WHV and apply for 190 shortly after? 
     

    I should be in the position to apply for a 189 also. I just have to sit an exam that happens twice a year to be eligible. So if I was on a WHV and apply for 189 and my WHV expires, would I be able to apply for a bridging visa until an outcome is received? Is that how that works? 
     

    Sorry for all the questions and thanks for your help. Just trying to figure a way to sort a visa out when I’m not currently able to apply as I’m offshore.

    If an employer wants you, they need to offer you a 186 DE.

    With that in mind, would it work to get a WHV to find yourself a contract and then applying for 190? Or do you have to be in the country for a certain period of time as technically you’d be classed as onshore at that point?

    Couldn’t see a related thread… Is someone able to explain how the evidence of job contract works and the timelines in which you have to prove by? For example, someone who is offshore and doesn’t currently have employment who wants to apply for the 190. 

    Every HR department I have spoken to have said you can’t apply unless you have a current valid visa, but if you are applying offshore for PR I’m not quite sure how you are going to be able to gain employment prior to a visa being granted if this is always the case.

    If those new rules were in place I wouldn’t think twice about it. Otherwise I’ll just wait and see how things progress with PR first, seen as I’ve already started looking into it anyway.

    I worked on a combination of banana, watermelon and avocado farms in Queensland and although the experience was good the work was hard to say the least 😅

    I'm not 100% sure if they have also scrapped the rule that you can only work 6 months with each employer. However if this was scrapped then it would give people like me and you a chance to find a employer to work for and get some valuable skilled work experience that could possibly help us get PR in the future.

    Worth keeping an eye on.

    I am in the process of potentially applying for 190 state sponsorship. I have my English language exam with superior result and I’m awaiting return of my skills assessment. Good to know there are potentially other options, if required.

    Would it be best for me to look to gain experience in a position that's on the MLTSSL while I wait for the new working holiday visa rules to kick in?

    Also I'm thinking when the new working holiday visa rules kick in I will be able to move to Australia 2 years and try and get some skilled work experience whilst in the country, would this be better for future PR visa prospects?

    I have seen online that it is super competitive for IT professionals at the moment.

    Oh my goodness. I just read up about this now. Hallelujah!!!! 
     

    I’m in a similar position to yourself, 30 years of age about to turn 31. With the intention of eventually getting a PR visa. From the UK. I haven’t actually had a WHV before though. 
     

    Sorry I am not able to contribute to your actual query, but thank you for providing me with the information you have. This is exciting news! Hopefully they bring it in quite quickly. 

  9. I’m of the understanding you cannot purchase a house on a temporary visa. 
     

    If you are able to, I’d only move forward with the PR visa’s. Although you can go for permanent residency visas after three years, there are those who have applied for such and are still waiting. For stresses sake, I’d continue on the PR pathway, even if it takes a bit longer. 
     

    I could be very wrong in that recommendation though, I’m sure others (including migration agents) will have a better idea of what to do in the current situation.

  10. I’m aware this is probably a really stupid question… See if my occupation currently isn’t on an offshore list, but is on an onshore and graduate list. Can I still apply for a 190 offshore with it anyway? Would it sit there until they might possibly consider my occupation from offshore applicants or would it just be ignored/rejected? 

  11. You should receive it in the mail. I got mine literally the morning after I’d been emailed to say my results were available to view online. 
     

    If you are concerned you can give the institution a call, where he sat it. 
     

    I’m not sure if it’s different per institution, but when I sat mine I was given an envelope to write the name and address of where I wanted the certificate delivered to. It’ll likely need to be that, as it will have has photograph on it and an official sign off.

    The only reason I asked for it from hmrc was because I couldn’t for the life of me remember when I worked at one of the places I’d worked. I filled in the following application form, with the reason “migration application”, it took about 6 weeks to hear back:

    I’m of the understanding you need your entire employment history, your address history for the last 10 years (problematic for me as I’d been to and from uni in different cities) and dates you’ve been on holiday/where. 
     

    I’ve submitted for my police clearance today, with the risk it will expire sooner than I can use it, as it’s only £50 ish. Shouldn’t be too much hassle to renew. I contacted my local migration health examination approved doctor and they’ve said that I’ll have to wait until I have a HAP ID. At the moment the wait with them is 3 weeks for an appointment.

    Can you complete police checks and medicals even though they haven’t been requested yet? Or do you have to wait?

    As far as income for the last 8 years. If you are UK based. I requested a letter from HMRC for my entire employment history, they’ve provided me with that to include how much I was paid and when. Hoping that’ll be a contribution to a visa application!

  15. I do appreciate what you are saying, but I’m not a time waster. I’d stick with them if I felt like they were open to helping even with basic questions. 
     

    They shouldn’t have said they were happy to answer any questions following a consultation, if that wasn’t going to be the case. They should have just said I’d need another consultation, which would have been fine knowing that straight from the start. 
     

    Wasn’t overly impressed with the initial consultation anyway. Person didn’t seem to give straight answers about anything, was all very vague and didn’t know much about the process for my occupation. Granted as they aren’t in my occupation it is excusable, I just expected to be overwhelmed with information and I’m not any better off than I was before it. Maybe I expected too much, haven’t done this before so could have went into it with too high an expectation. 
     

    Again, everyone’s experience is different, doesn’t mean someone will have the same if they go with them. Just voicing it anyway!

    I know this is an older forum. I went with Emergico however, after an initial consultation I was told I could email any questions I had and they would be happy to answer. I’ve since emailed questions, making it clear I’ll continue with them when I’m in a position to apply for a visa, they said basically they wouldn’t answer any questions unless I paid for another consultation. It’s a bit disappointing. These are just basic questions, like how the process works for each state and EOI’s. I’d emailed again and just got ignored. So, probably gonna switch to another migration agency once I’ve had time to research. It’s a shame. Their reputation seemed good.

    Queensland only has 3000 subclass 190 spots for this program year. 

    Do you reckon it’s more sensible to just apply to any state, do the two years there and if I want at that point move state, seen as the chances are so low anyway?

    Oh right. I thought it was a minimum of a six monthly thing. I don’t want to wait six months to apply when my occupation might never be on it for that state anyway. It is an eligible occupation for onshore and graduates so I’m hoping they’ll change their mind ASAP, to let offshore apply for that also.

    Couldn’t see a relevant post to ask a question on about skilled occupation lists. 
     

    I’m interested in 190 sponsorship for Queensland. However, my occupation isn’t on the offshore list at the moment. Is there a possibility this may change as it’s just opened or is it set in stone from the start what occupations are needed?
