Hi Almost Oz- I have emailed ceremony.qld@homeaffairs.gov.au on several occasions to no avail. Not sure if your timeline is similar to mine (below)

Let me know if you hear back- Good luck!

    Hi @jadee

I only got approval last week. I have emailed on the email address and no response yet.

Looking at your timeline, I may have to wait 6 months. Let's see how it goes.

I called Toowoomba Regional Council and was kept on hold for ages while someone tried to find the information you are requesting. Sadly they are driven by Brisbane and were unable to provide any worthwhile information. I was told to ring them instead.

All I can say is that ceremonies are still going ahead in Toowoomba, just not huge amounts.

I have called Home Affairs who are quite frankly useless and also emailed, but no reply to date.

    I see. Thanks for response

Every day I read posts from people getting more and more impatient that the date for their citizenship ceremony hasn’t been set.

Whats the rush? Why are people so keen to get the process completed, the test has been passed, most likely the status on the Immi account has been changed to approved, so why are people so desperate?

Id be interested to know other peoples views, I’m waiting for my ceremony, but am not expecting it to happen for at least 6-8 months and that’s being optimistic!

Good question...I would be interested in knowing as well.

Hello everyoneTest is next week 28/7 so anxious I have been practicing the test on Immi reading the bond booklet.

Do the questions we practice on Immi same as we get on the day?

Also do we take all documents we used in application

    Thnx everyone

    Hi @ZULU2000

Don't stress. Its mostly common sense questions. I had read the booklet only once and passed the exam.

Nothing tricky. Make sure you read the "Australian Values" section bit more because getting any of the "Australian Values" questions wrong is an automatic fail regardless how you do on rest of the test.

Due to ongoing Covid, they did not check any of my documents. They did not want to touch my documents and spread Covid that way. They only checked my driver's licence.

    Good Luck!!!

    Hi all,

    I have a quick question:

I had my interview and test passed 100% and was in and out within 20mins, I took my test at a local Centrelink office on June 01st, was told there is no outstanding checks on June 24th, my question is, does the approval take significantly longer if your test is at a Centrelink office, I see from this thread that people get approved the same day... am I just unlucky or has this been the case for others that have tested at Centrelink offices. (I am remote so no other option).

    Hi @Julies450

I, too, am in the same boat. Tested and Passed at Centrelink last month but no approval so far. Hopefully it comes soon!!!

    Regards,

So I guess you know now, I hope you passed.
As you and the many others on this forum have no doubt found out, the questions are more or less identical to the government practice test and all the answers were in the ‘Our Common Bond’ literature.

    Hi @ToowoombaBlue

Passed with 100% last week, now waiting for approval. I don't know how long will that take.
Yes, reading "Our Common Bond" certainly helped!

I doubt you will have the same issue. We got married in the Dominican Republic and the certificate was in Spanish, we had it translated in the UK but Immi insisted it needed translating by an Australian approved translator!
Bit jobsworth if you ask me, but you have to jump through the correct hoops I suppose.

    Hi @ToowoombaBlue,

I have heard back today. I have got a Citizenship Test Date for June 2021.

    Applied July 2020
    Citizenship Test Date June 2021
    Location: Toowoomba, QLD

Not sure if anyone else here is in same boat.

had test 2nd week Feb 2021,status Received.

lodged FOI and today received reply, according to notes nothing is pending such as ospc not required is mentioned since date of test.

I have no idea what is causing delay when nothing is pending and what should I do next.

I am from VIC and its been 15 months since I submitted my citizenship application.

Can anyone else please advise as it seems that I will loose the job opportunity I am after since more then a year.

    Hi Zayn,

I applied in Jul 2020. I have not heard anything back yet? You think I should lodge a FOI request? Or should I wait?

And What exactly to put in the FOI request?

Word to the wise, check your immi account regularly!

I nearly missed a request for more information, luckily caught it with five days to spare! They should have emailed me, but didn’t.

    Hi @ToowoombaBlue

You applied in June 2020? I applied in July 2020 from Toowoomba as well.

Do you mind sharing what sort of information they have requested, so I can prepare as well?

    Good Luck.

Chased up Toowoomba Regional Council regarding test invitations, I may as well have not bothered. Basically they had no idea as they are a regional centre and it is out of their hands.

    Very frustrating!

    Hi @ToowoombaBlue

I am also from Toowoomba. I applied in July 2020. I have not heard anything yet.

I think the test is done by the Services Australia (Centrelink) in Toowoomba, not by the regional council.
