Thanks for the positive reply, I quoted I do not feel I have enough points. Even at 75 points with the extra points in my English exam this wouldn't be sufficient enough, so do I hope and wait for a skilled nominated invitation form NSW or do I look at the 491 route in SA when it becomes available ?

If you want to have better chance at NSW nomination, try to improve your English score as 70 points is also unlikely for nomination and it would also help if you want to try 491 path.

With any point-based visas, you should try to max out your points as much as you can for better chance. You can submit EOI for all 3 visa simultaneously and hope for the best.

    Hi,

First post so please be kind 🙂,

I'm looking at the 190 or 191visa route ( Electrician ) I have completed my English language ( PTE 10 points ) and skills assessment and have also produced the relevant 10 years + work experience evidence, our EOI was submitted early March with 65 points skilled independent and 70 points for skilled nomination through NSW ( lost points during lock down due to birthday ) I have previous work experience in Australia but unfortunately was only 11 months, I also have my Australian recognised trade certificate from the TRA in Electrical mechanic that I was granted whilst in Australia on a sponsored visa, this was granted by the electrical trades committee.

My question is does anyone envisage NSW inviting off shore applicants in 2021 through the nominated Visa as I do not feel I have enough points for independent. I have been asked by my agent if I would consider the 491 pathway to residency if this was to became available with any of the state ( SA being a possibility ), my only concerns are its a temporary visa with limitations, I have a young family and wouldn't want to risk moving to the other side of the world on a temp visa. Our long term plan is to move to Australia and settle and I just don't feel comfortable on this type of visa unless it was a very last resort.

Our long term plan would be to reside in Queensland as my parents live there ( immigrated in 2008 ) unfortunately electricians are not on the skilled list for Queensland hence the NSW route for a few years but we may well end up residing in NSW long-term if all goes well.

We were hoping to be there by February 2021 prior to Covid but now we have decided for our son to finish secondary school ( July 2022 ) so do I hold out and hope they will start invitations for skilled visas or do I go with the 491 if it becomes available.

I could try the PTE test again for the 20 points but my writing keeps letting me down and I cant seem to get above 74 but all other communitive skills are 79+, Tried the IELTS but again was the writing, I was going to try again but anxiety gets the better of me on the day.

Basically I'm looking for someone to shed some positivity, we started our process in February 2018 and now feel that it may have been a wasted journey and expense.

I know its the unknown at the moment with Covid and we are trying to stay positive that one day we will eventually get to Australia!

Thanks for your time reading the above, any relevant replies would be much appreciated.

with 65 points, you are likely to have 0 chance at getting invite, should really consider 491 and other options

We’re planning on moving to Perth after Xmas from Victoria, I’m reading conflicting information online about whether we are allowed to even enter WA.

i work in recruitment and believe I’ll need an exemption letter, Is that the case does anyone know?

    thanks

yes you need exemption unless the hard border open after xmas (highly unlikely)

    Hi All,

    I need some help and advice please. The situation at my part has folded quite weird. Please if someone can advice me;

    a) I applied for my parents visa 864  by mid of Oct. They are on 600 visitor visa which is going to expire by end of this month (oct). Now, as of date, I haven't received any updates, neither the acceptance. I am very much concerned about bridging Visa  A as they might become unlawful noncitizens. I am hopeless now despite sending emails and calling immi team several times. What shall I do in this situation ?

    b) What if my parents stay beyond their date of current 600 visa expiry ? Will the department consider my lodging date and backdate the bridging visa A ? Anyone has experienced this before ?

    c) I cannot apply again the visitor visa for them as i will be granted a bridging visa for 600. If i get acceptance in the meanwhile 600 is being processed, I have no idea how the system will react here as bridging visa A for 864 wont be issued? My God this is so confusing for me

Also please if anyone on this forum who has applied 864 and received bridiging visa A , could you please share your time line how and when it was received ? Was the visa bridging received via post (on paper) or via email ?

Would really appreciate if anyone who can help me with this. Havent got any replies from immi teams or agents too.

    Thanks in advance

Once you have successfully lodge application, then the bridging visa A should immediately come into effect when visa 600 expire. You can check status using VEVO the date after visa 600 expire to see if there is any bridging visa A in effect. If not, you can apply for bridging visa A separately https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/bridging-visa-a-010#About

You can also apply for visa 600 again, then if you get acceptance for visa 884, just have to submit form to cancel the application for 600 before the new 600 get approve.

Advise is only from my speculation though, not expert.

    Hi zeal,

My employer is agreed to Nominate me for 186 DE.

I have small question in regards to calculate  3 years full time Work experience.

    Current background:

I am working full time for same employer from 4.5 years as Network Engineer.

    2.4 years before 482 Sponsored.

    Remaining on 482 Visa.

As we know for 186 DE required at least 3 years full time with positive skills assessment. (I already skill assessed positive once at the time 482 Visa application)

Could you please assist that AM I eligible for 186 DE with 3 years work experience?

    Regards,

    Vishal

you should be able to apply for 186 direct entry

Yea I am looking for sponsorship but nobody is ready for that its too hard to get sponsorship. I tried in WA and Queensland as well. If you know something about that plz let me know.

Oh, your current workplace does not want to sponsor you? Because I'm also RN in WA and got my PR from employer sponsor pathway.

Hi there, I have logged my EOI on 85pints for 491 visa in WA in first week of October. I just want to know is there any chances   that I can get my invitation till end of November as I am registered nurse in Australia and Mine occupation is on PMSOL as well. Moreover, I am onshore and currently on visitor visa.

What type of RN you belong to (mental health, emergency, aged care, etc)? WA is currently reviewing RN on their occupation list so it is pretty tough to get state nomination from WA for RN. Migration list for WA

Unless you are applying for family sponsor instead of state nomination.

  8. My nephew is currently a year 9 international student with valid student visa studying in Melbourne but he and his parents wish to transfer to a secondary school in Perth next year. Just wondering what's the process as I have searched on the WA official website (WA TIWA) but there is no mention of transferring, only new application. Also emailed them but they only give standard answer of please look through website.

I assume that he will put in application for spot in available schools, then receive letter of offer, pay fees and etc and let the department home affair know he changed school? Or does he need to go through the visa process again?

    @paulhand

  9. 1) What is the cost difference between a partner visa and working visa?

for just visa: partner around 8k and work around 4k, not including paperwork, assessments, english, police clearance, health check, etc

    2) Everyone says you need legal advice (and fees) for a work sponsorship visa to ensure your application is perfect. Does a partner visa also require legal fees, or is it quite easy to complete?

best to get advise from migrating agent for both type of visas

    3) What is the total processing time for PR through work sponsorship vs through partner visa?

186 process time 6-9months average, can be longer, can be shorter

partner about 23-27 month for the temporary (first part) then another 11-22 months for actual PR

    4) I believe if my partner applies for PR through his work sponsorship, then he won't be able to swap jobs/companies. Is this true? Can he swap jobs/companies if he's on a partner visa?

if it is 186, the answer is he can change job after visa is granted, but not advised to and on partner, he can also change job

    5) I read that while the work sponsorship visa is being processed (bridging visa), my partner won't be able to leave the country even for a holiday unless he gets an exemption. Is this correct? Does this also apply on the partner visa?

it depends, if his current visa still valid, then bridging visa will not come into effect, and he can travel, if his bridging visa A is active, he can apply for bridging B to travel. bridging visa is automatically generated for most visa applications

    6) My partner mentioned even if he does apply for permanent residency through his work sponsorship, he's still not guaranteed to obtain PR as they don't approve everyone. Is this the case for a partner visa too?

there are always chances the department will reject any application that they deem unsatisfactory working or partner

    7) If we register our relationship, we become de facto. What are the legal/financial ramifications if one of us dies/gets ill/receives inheritance etc.

have to ask lawyer for that

    @Brad1549

Best to talk to migrating agent to see the best pathway.

I saw on this page https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/help-support/applying-online-or-on-paper/online that you can import any applications anyway.

Looks pretty easy. Has anyone done it and sure doesn't compromise application at all?
My MA is Deloitte and they told me that they prefer I wouldnt do it...

    Thanks!

It doesn't compromise anything. I imported mine without agent knowing, and got my grant. As long as you don't upload or change any information yourself, using it to monitor status is fine.

  11. Good luck to everyone else waiting.
