  1. @JeremyNg266 Honestly, they did not ask me for further documentation yet.

However, I am still studying full-time student, living with my sister, work under 20 hours per week in school days, and receiving roughly every 3-month money from my parents account and I am using their bank card here in Australia if needed.

What about you, I am wondering how you would answer the dependent questionnaire?

    Thanks

  2. Hi @Jagdeep1,

Unfortunately, you have lodged your application after 19/11/2016. Thus you would get affected by the new rules (Please refer to the attached image after changes)

But in my case, I have applied in July 2016, so I will not be affected by these changes as there is no upper age limit  (i am 24 years old) and still dependent on my parents by studying full time. (check the attached image before the changes)

@Tulip1 I have asked a registered immigration agent about this matter and he has informed me that it does not matter if you are over 25 years, as much as you could prove the dependency on your parents.

@Alan Collett it would be great if you could confirm what I am saying.

    Thanks

If I was you I’d be speaking to a migrant agent to get things confirmed.  You may not be two months away from being asked for documents. They may have reached there quota and you may be 4 or 5 months away. When do you turn 25? You seem unusually old to still be dependent on your parents.

I am still dependent on my parents as I am still l a full-time student doing my master's degree in which they pay for its international fees. I will turn 25 in November this year.

I do not see it as unusual old to be dependent as I am still a full-time student if you know what I mean @Tulip1

@Bishoy95, how old are you now?   That's what matters.  When your parents' visa is granted, you must still be under 23 and dependent.

I am 24 years old, however, my lawyer told me that I will be fine as I applied before the date of the changes.

Even though, there is a website which confirms my lawyer speaking: https://www.acacia-au.com/including-family-members-changes-from-19-November-2016.php

Could you check it and see if am I wrong 😕 ?

  5. Hi All,

I am enquiring about the 143 Contributory Parent visa in the Dependent Child matter.

I have already applied with my family as a dependent child, and the visa has been acknowledged on the 29/07/2016.

The rule at that time was: the dependent child can be under 25 years old ( or no age limit, not sure), but it needs a proof of dependency to be granted, after that, they have changed the rule on the 17/11/2016 as the dependent child could only be over 18 and under 23 years old.

My question is, am I still be included because I have applied before the rule has been changed or they would reject me as the new law would be applied?

    Help Please

    Thanks!

  6. I am 24 years old dependent on my family and I am still a full-time student doing my master's degree which will end in June this year.

I am not too sure if am I need to keep studying after that or no as I am expecting for them to ask for the further documents in 2 months time

The thing that there is no proof if they would accept me as I applied before the changes have been made.
