  1. Hi There,

I got 489-SA invitation on 7-Jan-19 and I need to lodge by application before 9-Mar-19. I have also submitted EOI for 190-Vic on 12-Nov-18, now I am confused if I should wait for 190-VIc considering the benefit it offers or go ahead with 489-SA.

can anybody tell me if I miss 9-Mar-19 deadline for 489-SA, can I re-submit EOI for 489-SA? will they consider my application once again or is it one invitation per applicant and will reject if I re-submit?

I just want to give some more time to 190-Vic as its been only 9 weeks to my submission which includes Christmas holidays, as I am not aware how many days they are closed during Christmas.

How many points you've got and which occupation for Victoria 190?

  2. Hello Folks! Does anyone aware of tax deductions or tax benefits available for people on 489 Visa. Can they tax deductions on their income for kids education, medical insurance premiums, family tax benefits or expense related to kids. Appreciate if someone can put some light on the topic or guide me where can I find more details. Many thanks

  3. Hi Everyone,
I am new to this forum. Waiting for my visa Grant for subclass 489 (SA).

Visa applied - 27th oct 2018, all documents uploaded upfront.

    Points - 85

    Application status - Received

Any update , when can I expect the grant?

Hi Alka. Welcome to the forum. You should've by now received grant. I've seen@jimbo applying on 30th October getting one. I thought it's on 1st come 1st basis unless CO have asked for additional information.Have they?
  4. Woop fantastic!
I'm certain this will be the final cold Christmas for all of us in this thread (except the occasional visit back home). We're still hoping for an August flight to Adelaide but will be happy by getting out before the end of the year.
Everyone - If your visa grant came through in February, when do you reckon you'd fly out?
Hi Jon or Sophie. I've been following the this thread and other. I'm amused to see yours@jetblast jenki and jellica responses. I'm sailing in the same boat as yours. Front loaded my Visa application on 15th November. Awaiting grant. I would love to be in touch with you bunch and hopefully tag along for a beer at Henley :). If I get my grant in Feb/March , me and my wife are planning to touch down by July end. Hope to see you'll in Adelaide. Stay in touch!

  5. Hi Dadda,
I agree with mallan that some of these replies are overly negative. They're absolutely true but I can see how they may come across as blunt and overly harsh.
The reality is that your visa is not guaranteed, even after paying all the fees. You submitted the EOI - great! You got nominated by a State already - great! You applied for the visa, got the police checks, did the medicals and paid all the fees - great! You've done everything right so far based on what you've described (as long as you haven't lied on your application or forgotten important details or anything like that. I'm not accusing you of doing that at all, though).
But there is no guarantee that you will get the visa grant, or even if you did, the Australian government can cancel it at their own discretion, even after you've moved your life to Australia. But they would only do this for a very good reason. Remember that Australia thrives off migration. As for the comments people have made about entire visa classes being shut down, yes that happens. However, you've applied for the 489 visa, which is actually a great visa to be using at the moment. Most of the anti-migration sentiment is due to the overcrowding of places like Sydney and Melbourne but the 489 specifically supports the lower populated cities like Darwin or Adelaide. These smaller cities and towns are crying out for more migrants, and as the 489 ties you to them for at least 2 years plus the 887 processing time, they love this visa!
No one on these forums, even the migration agents who post here, can tell you that everything will be fine and you'll definitely get the visa. But there's still a really good chance that everything will be fine. As long as you've completed all your applications truthfully, not missed anything off, can back up all your claims and have the right documents, the medicals and police checks are ok etc etc etc, then you shouldn't worry.
But just to reiterate, don't sell your house, book flights or make any big plans until that visa is official and you've been given the grant! It's perfectly fine to believe that it will come through and plan for that because it probably will, but it doesn't hurt to have a back up too.
Excellent reply! Even I think. No point being overoptimistic or being too negative. You do your job and be open to the consequences. Do whatever you can

  7. So glad I found this group and so lovely to hear peoples success stories.
We are waiting to get assigned a case officer for 489 visa.
I'm starting to have a panic about this type of visa -  does anyone know if you have to pay for schooling with 489 visa and if employees will be less reluctant to hire you on this type of visa with it not being permanent.
    Thanks
    Sonia
Hi Sonia. Can you share your timelines and state you've applied 489 for. For schooling fees refer to thread https://www.pomsinoz.com/applications/tapatalk/index.php?/topic/198716-Time-to-migrate-to-Adelaide---Please-Help!! . Jobs I know of friend of mine who was on a similar visa 4 years back did not come across any employer treating him differently just beca1use he was on 489.
