The age of a subclass 143 visa applicant is no consequence to the granting of such a visa.

It is only the onshore parent visa applications under subclass 804 or 864 that have an age requirement.

    Best regards.

That is some good news for me. Thanks Alan, really appreciate your feedback.

To say it’s better to apply for 864 may not be true. Sure they would get a bridging visa to stay in Australia but they would also spend the rest of their lives on that bridging visa as the 864 has a 30 year wait.  There are many disadvantages being on a bridging visa and they need careful consideration before they can decide it’s a better option.  I’d say you need a vast amount of money for it to be a better option.  No access to any state benefits etc so if you ever need aged care and none of us know we won’t then you’ll have to pay for it yourself.  Just one of many examples of the pitfalls of a bridging visa.

    Hi all,

Is anyone aware if parents become ineligible for 143 if they become over 67(pension age) by the time of visa application outcome comes?

Main applicant in my case might be over 67 by the time our visa gets processed?

    Any help would be welcome.

It now shows the queue assessment. As previously noted in the forum any application after June 2018 will be assessed before being put into a queue. So they are assessing June 2018 applications now for validity prior to being given a queue date. If it’s anything like 103 ( the non contributory parent visa) the queue date could possibly be two years or so later than the the lodgement date!

The visa assessment shows the ones they’re currently working on and processing

    Hi,

Can anyone who has had a valid queue date assessment done tell me about their experience? Did they receive an email or phone call or anything?

I am only asking because I have applied for 143 in June 2019 and I have received an email from the department with the subject "IMMI Ackn of Valid Application - Post Lodgement".

Sorry for posting this note on both threads - but not sure if everybody checks both the threads or not.

Just checking - Has anybody raised these issues (ridiculous wait-times for contributory visas and fake timelines on Govt website ) to any ministers or MPs? I haven't had a chance to go through the whole forum, but just wondering if it has been done before.

I have recently spoken to (and also written to ) a certain MP, and I sincerely hope that they will respond. All I'm hoping for is for them to take cognisance of this problem.

I know how terrible all politicians are, but this issue needs to be raised with them often - otherwise all of us will wait forever, and any Govt will continue to not act on it.

    Hey Sherlock,

Who did you raise this with ? Local MLA or local Federal MP? I am happy to raise the same with mine.

I think it’s something to do with having everything correct and “ready to go” on the application when it’s assessed. If they have to ask for further info later that would impact on the time obviously.

    Hi Linda,

I received an "acknowledgment of valid 143 application" email in June 2019.

Does this mean my application could still be invalid? If yes then this is worrying because I have applied for 143 almost 2 years back now.

Hi. Thank you.  In our case there was no queuing so we didn’t hear anything until case officer asked for further documents which was January this year. I’m not sure what happens within the queuing process which I understand has been introduced for applications from some time in 2018 (I think). I’m sure there are others on the forum who can advise on this point. Also not sure if there have been recent changes with AOS. Someone will know though!

Thanks for the advise. Yah I applied April 2019 and haven't heard anything yet.

You have to be settled in Australia for two years before you can sponsor anybody I believe.

    Hi Linda,

Sorry I am the sponsor for my parents who have applied for 143.

I follow this forum out of my love for my parents.

I have been settled in Australia(Australian citizen) for 11 years now.

At the moment, because of the size of the queue and the fact  that all applications for visas are dealt with in strict date order,  it’s taking about the same length of time to get 173 as it is to get 143 but as it’s only valid for two years there’s a further wait as you then have to  apply for 143. Although the payment is split into two the total cost is actually more when adding together the costs for 173 and then subsequent 143.

So  it takes longer and costs more to get full PR. There’s not much point in going for 173 now  actually !

Wow thanks, Linda, that explanation was very simple and easy to understand. Thank you for this information.

Seems like I did the right thing by applying straight for 143.

  9. Same as before, did you mom recently get 3years? I wonder why they swtiched from 3years back to 1 year for me then.

My mother used to get 1 year multiple entry visas with very little conditions (only No Work, No Study). Now she received a 3 year visa with a whole lot of conditions attached.

Can I ask what conditions they attached to your parents 1 year visa?

Congrats @SusieRoo, as pointed by someone here and looking at the people who are updating about more docs requested or their application progressing they all are 173 holders applying for 143.
I haven't seen anyone who has applied for 143 to start with getting any requests or contact by DHA. Is that still the case? Or are there any 143 applicants being requested for more docs?

    Hi Anks,
I am same boat as you, only applied for 143 though 2019.

    CPV 143 Applied on 05/04/2019

    Acknowledged on 30/05/2019

As of March this year there were at least 39,000 CPV applications (lodged up to April 2019) which had still not even begun to be processed.  Based on the current annual cap of 6,096 that equates to just under 6.5 years. Then you need to add the number applications lodged between May 2019 up to April 2020 when you applied (which I don't have any figures for).  Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I would guess your parents possibly have around 7.5 years to wait before they even begin to start being processed.  Of course this assumes the annual cap remains at 6,096 and that immi actually manage to process/grant that number each year.

     Good luck

Thank you for this information mate, is there any chance you can share with me the source of this information i.e. 39000CPV applications? I want to keep an eye out on this one?
Also, I would be very happy if you can share how we can figure out they have 6096 spots each year and how many of those slots are used?

  12. Hi guys,

New reader/member here to the forum.

I applied for 143 subclasses straight and I have joined the queue for this one? I see currently they are processing applications from 2016, I am guessing this will mean my turn will come by 2024(hopefully).

I applied for subclass 143 straight in April 2019 and got acknowledgement by May 2019.

Does anyone have any experience with the following issues:

    1. My mother has type 2 diabetes and has to monitor her sugar every now and then. Will this impact her health requirements? Given we are applying for permanent visas for elder people, I am guessing they are bound to have some kind of existing medical condition. Any input will be appreciated.

    2. My mother/father used to get 3 years tourist visas in the past, suddenly last year they have started only giving 1-year visas when I asked for 3yrs on the application. Anybody else has experience with this? Is this because they want to raise revenue by making us apply for the expensive 870 visas?

Any input will be greatly appreciated.
