  1. Sorry for the length of time for the reply, notifications were going into my spam folder. I’m secondary science. Whilst I would love to go for a 189 - which you don’t need registration for - they are virtually impossible to get with less than 95 points. So it’s likely we are going for the 190 state sponsored visa. For Victoria you need your teaching reg for this, I think for SA and some other states you do not. it’s actually WA we want to go to but there is no PR visa pathway straight there currently/pre-covid for teachers. I hope that changes but I’m doubtful so we will prob have to do our 2 years elsewhere first. I’ve not got an SES.
  2. Well I finally got my VIT registration! Only took 7 months! In addition to everything else I also sent my EHIC card and a NHS medical record.
  3. As it’s being considered under special provisions exemption it’s taking a while... had an email last week to say still being processed
  4. Of course. A very reputable one too, who is often recommended on forums such as this one.
  5. Not much I can do about that, can hardly get rid of my brother my agent hasn’t raised it as a concern so far so clearly she doesn’t feel it’s an issue.
  6. My agent seems to think we have a reasonable chance with the 190, I’m just waiting on registration with VIT. Teaching is not on WAs state sponsor list for offshore applicants so would have to be the family route - the only advantage to us of the 491 is that it would allow us to go straight to WA (where we want to be long term) unlike the 190 where I will have to do 2 years in Vic first - but it’s all part of the adventure and we may end up loving Vic as these seem to be our only options we have no choice but to give it a go, regardless of chances.
  7. Thanks for that. Of course I go through my agent before I actually do anything, but I do like to gather info before I go bombarding her with questions, especially ones that I suspect I can easily find the answer for!
  8. Yep. Just getting all paperwork in order so as soon as we can submit the eoi we are ready. Vic for the 190 as my occupation (secondary science teacher) is on their state sponsor list, WA for the family 491 if we decide to go down that route.
  9. Well thank you for that friendly and helpful reply. I was simply trying to establish if it was worth investigating this route but apologies if you feel asking a simple question was an inappropriate use of a forum
  10. Thanks for your reply. I thought that was the case, it might still be worth me looking into as being onshore and getting Australian work experience would put me in a better position for points for other PR visas, plus avoids the need to do 2 years in VIC. just need to establish if my brother would be able to sponsor me now.
  11. Thanks for your reply. I’m already with an agent, currently in the process of gathering paperwork for the 190 visa for VIC, but just wondered if it was worth asking my agent about the 491 as a possible route straight into WA which is where we want to be long term.
  12. Hi if a family member sponsors your for a 491 visa what do they actually have to do? Do they have to employ you? Also once the 5 years is up what is the next route - can you apply for citizenship or do you then need to look at other visa options? sorry if these are daft questions, I’m really struggling with the Aussie immigration website!
  13. A statutory declaration explaining why I couldn’t provide a commencement document, a referee letter confirming my name and address, and additional ID documents (I sent my police check, a mortgage statement and P60 with a passport photo attached) plus the form with all the documents listed signed by a nurse to confirm they are my documents. fingers crossed it’s enough...
  14. Still waiting. Had an email yesterday to say thanks for the documents and they are currently processing.
  15. Nope. Sent all the docs they requested but like everything else no one seems to do anything in a hurry. Perhaps like my AITSL it has gone to the bottom of the pile again!
  16. The statute declaration for us on their website https://www.vit.vic.edu.au/forms-and-publications/forms theres also a video explaining how to complete it. for the letter I just got my friend who’s a nurse to wrote a letter confirming my name and address, detailing her name, address and job role. I hope I’ve done it all correctly, I’m having a major confidence crisis as I felt I had 100% had met their requirements the first time around.
  17. I’ve not heard back from VIT yet but my agent has advised that I put together all of the other documents (referee letter, statutory declaration and additional bits of ID - I’ve gone with my police check, mortgage renewal and P60), so I’ve sent those off and I’m awaiting a reply. If there are any issues I’ll apply for a tourist visa and try that next, thanks for the heads up.
  18. Will do. I have emailed back, and I have my agent on the case who is also seeking advice from someone at smart teachers. So hopefully will get some clarity soon. I was so fed up yesterday, yet another hurdle and we are no where near submitting the EOI yet!
  19. Yep it was my full birth certificate. I might email them back to clarify but UK birth certificate doesn’t seem to be on their list now - it must have been a few weeks ago because I wouldn’t have included it otherwise.
  20. Yes I sent the original application weeks ago with my birth certificate, passport, driving license, and bank statement as these were all listed as accepted documents. Yesterday they emailed asking for the additional documents, but the list appears to have changed - UK birth certificate or bank statement no longer on there.
  21. Having a bit of a nightmare with my VIT teacher registration which I need for the 190 visa eoi. I’ve been asked to provide additional secondary ID documents - they have recognised my passport and drivers license but seemingly not my U.K. birth certificate or bank statement. looking at the list I don’t have any of the commencement documents (all Australian resident docs, I’m still in U.K.) so will have to request an exemption with a statutory declaration, referee letter and further ID docs. Looking at the list of accepted ID documents I’m struggling to see anything that I have - has anyone gone through this process that can suggest anything that might be accepted? I’ve downloaded the stat declaration form, but for the referee letter does it need to be set out in a particular way or does it not matter as long as it confirms my name, address etc ad us signed by an appropriate person? Total minefield - if anyone can help I’d be really grateful! Rebecca
  22. For the AITSL assessment you don’t actually need to pass an English test if your qualifications were completed in the UK (or other English speaking country) though? So the only need for the test is for visa points, in which case the general one can score you maximum points?
  23. Hi New to the forum and in the early stages of planning to move my family to WA in 2021. Can anyone point me in the direction of websites to get my head around the secondary science curriculum and exam system in WA? Also, when doing the skills assessment, what sector do UK secondary teachers go for - middle school or secondary? Im currently curriculum leader for science in an 11-16 school, 11 years teaching experience but never taught A-level. My timetable is predominantly KS4 so I’m inclined to secondary but would it be an issue that I’ve not taught 16-18 in the UK? Lastly, do science teachers in WA/Australia tend to teach across the 3 sciences or stick to their specialism? I’m a biologist but I love teaching physics and chemistry, would be sad to give them up.
