  2. Perfect I will check that out - thanks guys! I would say 40 minutes to an hour max commute to the city
  3. Thanks guys for your replies, our situation has very much changed and it looks like we will be moving to Melbourne instead. If you know of any good areas in Melbourne that would also be greatly appreciated for our move in spring next year. Thanks H
  4. Hi My husband has been offered a job in Melbourne - working out of the CBD and we are considering the move for early next year. I know you can’t really decide where to live until you have seen the areas, however I was wondering if anyone had any areas they would recommend to live in that would be suitable for a young family. I would be moving out with my husband and my 2 year old daughter and would need to be somewhere with easy access to the CBD for work. We would be looking at renting a house or apartment around $700 - $900 per week in an area that would ideally – Be safe - to walk around on my own and park a car overnight Easy access to the CBD by public transport Good area for kids Close to restaurants, cafes and shops We have lived in Fremantle in Perth for 4 years prior to returning to the UK for 4 years (ping pong pom) and would like to live somewhere with a similar feel to it. We have visited Melbourne on holiday but didn’t take any interest in the suburbs to remember which ones we liked. Any recommendations or opinions on areas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Hannah
  5. If we both had work there - in a heartbeat! x
  6. Sounds like you have made the right decision. I hope it all goes well for you and your family. Perth really is an amazing place! x
  7. How are you finding being back in the UK? We lived in Perth for 4 years (457 working visa) and moved back to the UK in 2015 as we missed home and felt like we needed sometime with family. it took some getting used to being back, I think the first 8 weeks felt like a holiday but then soon settled back to UK life. I think the reasons for the move can make people miss the place more/less. We have days when we miss our old lives in sunny Perth but also enjoying our time in the UK. However, we feel like we need another adventure so we are now looking at moving to Sydney at the end of this year. its funny how people do ping pong between. I suppose the one thing that makes it easier for me is that we never treat the moves as permanent, when we moved to Perth for 1 year it turned into 4, we moved back to the UK for a few years knowing at some point we would likely move countries again. Moving to Sydney on a sponsored working visa so I know its not permanent unless we want it to be. Could you move back out if you really wanted? I would give it a few months to see how you get on being back in the UK. its not all bad ? I hope you are starting to feel more settled.
  8. Hi Vicky We are moving to Sydney from the UK, we were in Perth 2011 - 2015 and then moved back to the UK. We loved Perth and I am sure you will too and its such a perfect place to have a family. I hope it all goes well. We have only spent a long weekend in Sydney so not sure what to expect as other than the tourist hot spots we didn't see much of Sydney. Plus this time we are moving with a little one so I know it will be much different to our last trip. I would be interested to keep in contact to see how you get on moving with a little one and if you have any tips for when our time comes! H x
  9. we are looking at renting and would be between $750 - $1200 per week
  10. Hi Vicky Have you made the move? My husband is a QS and we are moving out to Sydney later this year for his job with my 2 year old daughter. Just wondering how you have found the process moving with a little one? I noticed you are also thinking of moving to Perth, we lived there for 4 years and loved it, very different to Sydney but such a lovely place. Feel free to message me if you have any questions on Perth H
  11. Hi I would like some advice and peoples opinions on suitable suburbs for a young family. We will be moving to Sydney in just over 3 months for my husbands job, we are both early 30s and have a 2 year old daughter. We are still undecided whether we want to live closer to the city and joy the buzz and city suburb lifestyle but live in a smaller unit or live a little further away from the city in a bigger place and enjoy the space but still be close to cafes, restaurants etc. We love to eat out so would ideally like somewhere close by to cafes and restaurants and has stuff going off. We have lived in Fremantle in Perth for 4 years before my daughter was born and would ideally like something a little similar to that. I would be interested to know peoples opinions on suburbs? Any help would be appreciated as we only visited Sydney for a long weekend and visited to tourist hot spots. Thanks H
