Hi everyone, my parents got 2nd vac payment requested yesterday. Done payment today by bank cheque. Now waiting for final visa grant...so exciting😉. Been a long wait till now. I wonder how long from 2nd vac payment to visa grant 🤗

+- 40 months whew. Congrats for your family overall - its very stressful for everyone involved but going to be so worth it. Hope they can get there in time for Christmas.

No news, I am a bit in front of you. 3/9/15 have resigned myself that I will be lucky to hear anything before Christmas!

My daughter was asking me last night if there is any chance I will be there for Easter and I am so reluctant to put both our hopes up. I am a little fortunate in this instant that I have applied for the 173 so I won't have the delay of the AOS which seems to be the major hold up so my heart wants to say Yes but my head is saying no 😞.  My process will be quick but my position in the queue is becoming debatable.

Anyone submitted 143 late in 2015?
My parents submitted theirs around NOV 2015 but yet to hear a word yet. =(

Hi they are currently only processing up to and including 11th June 2015 but I do know someone who submitted theirs on 2nd July was asked for documents so hopefully it won't be too long now.

    Just found this excellent forum!

Not sure how to add all the dates below the post, however we applied for 143 and this was receipted on 15th June 2015, Invite to complete AOS , police checks and medicals on 22nd March 2018, all done including AoS on 21st August 2018.

I am hoping we may hear within 3 months about 2nd payment?

All v stressful - really reassuring to read how this is progressing for everybody here.

Hi everyone , Thought  I would share my experience of finding a job having been inPerth for a few months. It was a concern of mine as like most on the 143 visa I am a mature person ( older) and might not be as desirable as the younger applicants ( more ways than one) . Realistically Ageism must exist if an employer has a certain profile in his mind for his/her idea of the ideal candidate. So I knew that as Perth has a higher unemployment rate than it used to , I might struggle to get paid  work. After our planned few weeks off recovering from the stress of selling up and moving over , the job hunt began. I have a full work history in sales and was surprised and a little disappointed when my skills were not snapped up. I am confident in my ability but found that initially I had to adjust my cv and application , generally work hard to proceed past initial job application.  I was boosted by some interviews, video interviews, second interviews but it took a few goes  to get a yes!. Ironically a second yes came from a previous application two days into my job so I declined. The new job wasn’t all I hoped but a third yes came after a little follow up and I start my new role in new property sales this week. So if you need or want to work , keep positive and keep trying and something will turn up . It might be on day one but if not keep trying. I would say that as every where who you know not what you know can help. Anyone who is worried or trying and would like to chat tactics feel free to respond in the forum or pm me. I’m not a careers expert but I would be glad to share my experiences and knowledge gained. I will plug my role as a new homes salesperson in the Perth area another day !.

Welcome to Australia to all the recent arrivals and to the waiters , your turn will come .

    Good luck all!

Will definately get in touch when my turn comes for sure. Did they ask you "where do you see yourself in 10 years time?" ?

I tried putting another word instead of ‘test’ and worked immediately.

This week my contemplation as to what ‘word’ to use ended up in very inappropriate words!!

Could this be a way of venting with your choice of word when sending for the ‘out of office’ email - even this could be considered a good descriptive term!!!

Likely the word substitute for ‘test’ could in the long run produce some colourful choices.

    Is it still 11th June?

You can do but I think they  use the earliest date used  in requested documents  to set the period within which you have to enter to validate the visa but not sure. Others will be able to help! Good luck!

Thank you Linda - I actually just did a test run (sorry I know that test is a very touchy word around here) and it was so easy and quick even uploading documents and passport photo - I managed to print each page as I did it (you cannot save it) so I think I will just wait until asked.

Hooray! Hooray!  so happy this morning our visas have been granted. ? ?

    3 years, 3 months and 8 days.

That is fantastic news so great to see there is some kind of movement. It gives the rest of us an idea that we looking at maybe 3.5 years worse case scenario. Personally counting on 3 years and 3 months as I am on 173 I won't have the hassle of the horrendous AOS delay.

  10. OFFSHORE APPLICANTS (subclass 143 and 173) When your application is allocated to an assessing officer, you or your authorised contact may be asked to provide more documents, including (but not limited to) an Assurance of Support (subclass 143 only), police certificates and health clearances to finalise your application.

We are currently assessing applications lodged up to and including 25 May 2015.

So disappointing - told my grandkids earlier this year that I would be there just after Santa visited and looks like now I will have to tell them it will be after the Easter bunny has come!

Hi. We are in Newport 10 mins from Palm beach and 15 mins from colleroy where our fav restaurant there was partially washed out to sea. We are on hill facing Pittwater and Scotland island and fortunately had some shelter. Just opened some more roads today but clearing up will take a while longer. Houses below us flooded out and we had lovely waterfall in garden which fortunately missed house. Another King tide in couple of hours and waves still about 5 to 10 m when we passed colleroy earlier today. Poor Tassie getting it now. Fingers crossed no more lives are lost Kim

Hi I was just reading all the old messages from 2016 and picking up any tips and saw that you are in Newport - I will also be moving there when my visa is granted my daughter and SIL have bought a house along Barrenjoey Road not far from Newport Primary School so would be great to grab a coffee (or a gin for me at the rate my waiting is going) when i finally get there?

It’s not so much excitement it’s more wariness.

We knew where we stood with Dutton-  it depends who gets the job and how they see it.

If retrospective measures took effect in the past and the Australian  govt is anti immigration I’m not sure why the proposed AOS changes didn’t actually go ahead. I believe Morrison at the Treasury is in favour of immigration.

I'm still amazed st how easily and quickly govt personnel changes happen in Australia - in UK it takes place quite slowly.  Is it 6 PMs in 10 years now?

Hopefully they will re-employ the +- 300 staff members he laid off so that they can catch up to the backlog and we can start moving in the waiting room again. My backside has spread from sitting for so long!

    Hi Marilyn,

I completed Form 1022 myself on the basis that I was the Applicant.  In the box marked 'Information which is no longer current' I referred to the question in the original application and said my daughter was now an Australian citizen.  In the box entitled 'New correct details' I listed my daughters Australian Passport Number and her Citizen Certificate Number.  I think it worked and I received an acknowledgement that they had received the information and that my file had been updated.

    David

Thank you for your help with this David - I posted the form 1022 on 15th and also emailed them a scanned copy and they responded already to say my sponsor's details have been updated - so looks like they happy for an email copy of the document I didn't have to spend £7 posting it ? but at least I did it.

    Hello Roomies,

Well, today is the day I thought would never arrive! This evening we fly to Sydney – on a one-way ticket!!

Three years of waiting and wondering and sending ‘test’ emails and gnashing teeth when the date has not moved. Then six months of anxiety. Nerve-wracking medicals, frustrating AoS palaver, sorting removal firms, packing, chucking, scrubbing (shoes and boots), paper work, resignations, and emotional farewells.

Everyone asks if I’m excited - but at the minute I just feel numb and just a teeny bit apprehensive. But this is the bottom line:

I am moving from one comparatively rich and comfortable country to another - to be with my daughters!

    How very, very lucky I am . . . . .

Good luck to you all! This will be you one day!

    See you in Oz,

     M

Amazing news and yes can't wait for this to be me sooner rather than later. Just been in Sydney for 10 days I surprised my daughter for her 40th and was able to see their new house which they bought with me in mind, saw the new schools the grandbabies are going to, met teachers and their friends and in just those 10 days solidified my decision to go was the perfect one for me. Best of luck M and hope you keep us updated with your progress and any tips you have once you have settled will be greatly appreciated. Bon Voyage!
