  1. Thank you for taking the time to give me all the valuable information.. I have claimed the 8% offset on my State Pension and submitted my return and I have nothing to pay this year. Next year will probably be different so I have emailed Teachers Pensions and await their reply, so it is good to know that your spouse was sent details of his contributions and about the ATO form 11.
  2. Yes, we are now permanent residents filling in our first ATO tax return. They are almost completed, but we now that if we can give a UPP (Undeducted Purchase Price) on our UK Teachers' Pension and our UK State Pension we may be entitled to a 8% Offset. I spoke to someone at the Teachers' Pension call centre who said he was very knowledgeable, but didn't know of UPP's. I would be very grateful if anyone can tell me how I get this information from UK State Pensions and/or UK Teachers' Pensions and how long it takes?
  3. Thank you for clarifying that. It was something I read that made me doubt that it was taxable. I am seeing a volunteer from 'Tax Help' to complete my return. I sent the form to reclaim tax to the ATO in May and understand from HMRC that I will processed in November.
  4. Is my UK Teachers Pension subject to tax when when I receive it here in Australia?
  5. Our Visa 143 application was lodged on 24 June 2016 and we were asked to supply medicals and police checks on Tuesday, 22nd February. We were surprised to learn that the police checks are posted to your residential address. Are we correct to think that these can be scanned and sent to Parent Visas? We are in the UK at present. With the Australian police check, we have the option for it to be sent to an Australian address. Could we have it sent to our son who is sponsoring us or directly to Perth, Parent Visa Centre, Locked Bag 7, NORTHBRIDGE WA 6865 rather than waiting 3 weeks to be posted to the UK. Thanks
  6. Our Visa 143 application was acknowledged late June 2016 so we are desperately hoping that we hear from WA Parents in the next few months, but who do they contact? Is it the applicant or the sponsor? If we are visiting Australia when they contact us, do we need any documents or copies of documents with us. Thank you to all the knowledgeable people who take time to reply to our questions!
  7. Has anyone who had there Visa 143 acknowledged in June 2016 been contacted yet by WA Parents to have a medical and Police check?
  8. Thanks to AJM22 and LindaH27 that's been really useful. I noticed that there is sometimes a lengthy delay between the Medical and PCC submission and the 2nd VAC request, is that always the case?
  9. Thanks for all the useful info. Are there any figures available for how many applications submitted in May 2016 are still to be processed and the total number of applications received in June 2016? We received our Visa Application acknowledgement on 27 June 2016. Like so many of you, we are desperate to be reunited with our family, with three sons, and four fast growing-up grandchildren there!
  10. Thank you for your very informative and helpful reply.
  11. No other advantage for us as far as we know.
  12. Am I correct that the 864 is the one applied for while in Australia? We are still living in the UK and need will need time to organise our move to Australia, so where advised by a Visa company here to go for the 143. Was that advice correct? I will also post on the main parent thread. Thanks Jan
  13. We lodged our Parent Visa 143 application two years ago. We have sons with citizenship and PR in Australia. We are 70 and 68. We have visited the last two years on a 600 Visitor Visa staying for 5 months each time. Question: If we are fortunate enough to get PR, will we automatically get the Older Person Tax Allowance on our UK Teacher and State pensions. Is it a universal rebate. If not, how is it calculated Thanks Jan
