  1. Hello,

If an applicant has an eye condition that the MoC considers expensive, what would be the best way to go forward? Will the case officer allow an extra time for treatment or is there any way to pursue the health waiver? We'd be really appreciated to hear your experiences/suggestions.

Also, I'm trying to look up George Lombard's contact, but he seems to have moved to another company. Is he still providing services for parents visa?

    Thanks very much!

Can anyone confirm something for me please.  I have my 143 visa and will be replacing my passport soon as it’s due to expire shortly.  I assume I don’t need to inform immigration of my new passport details and that my visa will automatically carry over onto my new passport?

I think you need to submit Form 929 so that the department can link your visa to the new passport. The details of how to submit should be on the form.

Seeking advice on citizenship timelines.  We were lucky enough to get out visas granted in Sep 2018 and in Nov 2018 activate them with a trip out.  We then had to return to the UK to sort out our affairs and finally moved over on 7 Nov 2019.  It would seem that our "permanent residency" would be counted from 13 Nov 2018 when we activated our visa.  However  I am a bit confused over the definition for "lawful residence" .

The website states " You need to know the date your 'lawful residence' started, that is, when you first started living in Australia on a valid visa.  For example, you might have arrived in Australia on 1 June 2012 holding a temporary visa. Then on 4 September 2016, we granted you a permanent visa. So, your lawful residence date is 1 June 2012 and your permanent residence date is 4 September 2016."

But this doesn't cover our situation.  Can we start our citizenship application now (more than 4 years since our permanent residency), or do we have to wait 4 years from when we finally moved here - i.e. 7 Nov this year?  Does anyone have any similar experience.

    Hi @Pertenhall,

I think you need to have lived in AU for 4 years since your visa activation date. Make sure you also meet the criteria below, especially item 3.

You can start your online application. If you don't meet residence requirement, it won't allow you to proceed.

Also worth checking with the calculator if you haven't done so already: https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/help-support/tools/residence-calculator

When you apply you must have been:

    • living in Australia on a valid visa for the past 4 years
    • a permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen for the past 12 months
    • away from Australia for no more than 12 months in total in the past 4 years. This includes no more than 90 days in total in the past 12 months.

Hi Noctis, please don't panic.  Form 929 (found online) allows you to update address and passport information.  You can fill it in, scan and email to the address on the form.  I'm not sure whether you need to tell them about your new job, just that you must prove your income for AOS if you are the assuror.  There is probably a form for informing Immi that you have married, although not sure which one, as your parents would have entered you on their application form and now need to add your partner.  All the best, Jacqui 😎😎

    There is also Form 1022.

Thinking of printing form out, filling it in, then I try to fill in online and submit throughout the day for her. She has no holidays left to take time of work to into a centre.  Going into early to work to do today didn’t happen for her as my a grandson had her up 3 times in the night! 🙄 Wonder if over the weekends site might be less busy and working 😡

No, she won't have a Centrelink CRN and will need to apply for one.

She can try logging in to MyGov (which she should have access to for her tax and Medicare already - if not, she should register) and she might be able to apply for a CRN through that.

However it's likely she'll still have to visit a Centrelink office in person to present her proof of ID, so she might as well just go straight to the office.

Yes, better to go to Centrelink branch since they will need to verify your id before account is usable.

Certainly not upset-  just seemed strange and wondered why. Anyway she will have to wait for 5 years before she can apply for partner visa

I think the condition referred to above is not on the parent visa itself, but on the partner visa instead, which eligible sponsor must not have sponsored another person or been sponsored during the last 5 years, so you need to check the eligibility criteria of the partner visa or any visa you want to apply to confirm.

Hi Biggsy, thank you for the advice but I'm not sure if HSBC work in the same way as Commbank. I will have to contact them on the phone but the advice they've given me in writing already is that the cannot increase the BPay limit. I'll let everyone know what they say. Thanks again Christa

Hi @Christa, I think it should be fine. Why not let your sponsor who is in Australia do the payment? Afterward, you should send payment receipt to parent visa team as proof.

Yeah i searched on immi web & saw that too that’s why im very worried about now

is there any exemptions because it state “ the following conditions MIGHT BE ATTACHED to this visa “. & it is usually in the case of a Partner Visa.

Has anybody recently got their visa granted with dependant child has this issue ?

    😂😂😂

Hi @Mily, I think you need to wait till visas are issued to see if there is any condition on them, especially Condition 8502 “must not enter Australia before specified person”.

Hi, can anyone please tell me whether for CPV 143 Parents visa,  it is better to have ONE Assurer for AoS  with total income of $130K p.a.  OR  Two (2) Assurers having total income of $260K p.a. for faster processing of AoS ??   We are thinking to have ONE Assurer for Parents.  Plz give your input as many of Forum participants have good experience.

IMO, if one person could meet financial requirement, just use that one person. Joint application could be complicated.

1 asurer 2 people is max so I lodged by myself for my parents, and my friend lodged by himself for my brother. We used the joint application reference number that mygov sent to me earlier. I come to centrelink afternoon again and they said they can't do anything, go home and make a call on hotline number. So stressful

You seem to have lodged a joint application because you are using the same application number. I think you need to lodge 2 separate applications. I could be wrong; please confirm with Centrelink.

This morning I came to Centrelink. The centrelink officer said the error system so no email or notice come through mygov email about interview or anything. Then i checked my phone dial, i missed a call from ID caller 3 days ago. Then 1 hour later, i got an email with a reject letter. I and my friend are asurers with joint application,( I sponsor my dad, mom, and my friend asure my brother), but they give me that reason, still confusing.

Did you lodge only one application?

Our son is waiting for the AOS phone interview. He is concerned about when the call is likely to come through as he has a very busy work life and some times can’t answer his phone. Can someone who has received the call let me know the number so he can check his phone. I suspect there are many numbers they call from but it’s just another thought!!!

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Bridgie

It will most likely come from a private number.

Hi, I am just wondering, can a panel doctor that conducts health examinations who is appointed overseas by the Australian government be eligible to sign a Commonwealth Statutory Declaration?

Would them being appointed mean that they have a connection to Australia? Would they be registered in Australia wherever they may be around the world?  Here is the website to make more sense of having a (connection to Australia) https://www.ag.gov.au/Publications/Statutory-declarations/Pages/who-can-witness-your-statutory-declaration.aspx

    Thank you

    Joey

You should also try Australian embassy. They should be able to provide this service for a fee.

having just checked Peter’s link, it still shows my old passport number

Just to clarify, are you using new passport details for the vevo check? Last time I used it, if you use old passport details, it will show old passport number, and vice versa.

If you use new passport details and it says no visa found, etc, then most likely it haven't been updated.

Can anyone who has filled in form 929 re change of passport help.  How do you know if homeaffairs have updated your passport number

they have said its 40 days processing. Good job I didn’t wait until the very end of my expiry date!

Do you just cross your fingers and hope it has been done before returning to Australia ?? 🙄  Can’t see anywhere on my immi account that shows my passport number etc.,

    thanks

    Hi @Kathss56,

I assumed you already have a visa? You can verify your visa with new passport details using vevo check:

    https://online.immi.gov.au/evo/firstParty?actionType=query

You should also bring both passports when you travel.

Thanks David that’s really helpful..we have used the Commonwealth bank while on holiday and find them very good so might decide on them as we can pop in and talk rather than online, which sometimes you need!  😎😎

I think Commbank has a monthly fee, but can be waived with monthly deposit. If that's a concern, you can use NAB instead.

Regarding saving account interest rate, UBank USaver + Ultra is the best at the moment - 2.41% with minimum $200 monthly deposit from external bank (UBank is owned by NAB, online only).

Regardless of who you bank with, you can use any ATM from the big 4 without any fee.

Do you have to open the bank account for the AOS bond before putting the paperwork into Centrelink or do they tell you when they need it? THanks

You need to lodge AoS application first. After your application is processed or you get interviewed, they will issue a letter requesting bond guarantee, which you need to bring to CommBank.

Also, you can't lodge AoS application until you receive invitation letter from PVC team to provide documents.

Getting things together to go in my Movecube.  I have four things to declare as having been owned less than 12 months, two were bought and have been in obvious use since January & February and two will be completely new and unused, but added together the four will be over the $900 allowance - probably a total of around $1200. Does anybody know if Customs has any discretion where obviously used things are concerned?

Some used items could have depreciation applied, and if you travel in group, you could combine your allowances.

Total 46 months of waiting and process. I can wait to start new life in Australia. But my parents have things to arrgange so they can go with me shortly. Can i go by myself if im a dependent child? Thank you.

What is your initial entry date on the visa? Your parents will have to activate their visas before that date. I read somewhere that the main visa applicant has to activate visa first, but I could be wrong.
