We are in Perth but used an migration agent who Is based in Queensland so not sure if the application was submitted on the basis of our location or the agents.

Our actual visa grant was processed by the Australian Embassy in Beirut. We have no connection with Beirut (I am Australian and my partner is from the UK) but our agent did tell us that our application had been sent offshore for processing and there has been another thread recently regarding offshore processing of onshore applications.

Hi - for anyone waiting for an onshore visa I thought I would update on our timescales. Applied onshore October 2017 and medicals and police check requested January 2017. All submitted last week and have been granted 801 permanent visa today so just under 5 months from submission to approval!!

Hi - I’ve just joined the forum but thought I’d reply to you as we are in a similar position in that we submitted a partner visa application onshore in October 2017. Like you we didn’t expect to hear anything for ages but we used an agent who contacted us last week to say that our application is being processed offshore and police checks/medicals have been requested. Not sure if it’s the embassy in Beirut but offshore processing of onshore applications is happening so maybe the huge onshore backlog is being farmed out to speed up processing!!
