That would literally suuuuck. Wonder how much they've done so far this year

There was a number floating round on here as recent as a few weeks ago if i remember. It seemed that they were coming in under the target, Think they were on track to hit 150,000 which is interesting. I think Dutton wanted to reduce the target number further but the PM wanted to keep it at 170,000 so there is a bit of tension in the party. Draw your own conclusion from that when predicting the final number on July 1.

    I didn't get it bro?

We are coming to the end of the financial year and the immigration target is 170,000 people I believe. They may be close to it and therefore they may slow processing down until July 1 when they enter a new year and therefore a new quota number.

    Hi All,

I've been a silent reader for a while ... I check my immi status every morning and was shocked to see "finalised" on a SATURDAY!!

    Nom / PR application submitted - 15 Sep 2107

    Nom / PR approved / granted - 02 Jun 2018   (8.7 months)  No further documents requested ~

Conference & Event Organiser (TRT, LR)

The increasing processing times have been stressing me out (and my baby due at the end of the year)  I consider myself lucky and wishing everyone on this forum the best!   ... and Thank you "Heidi" from Department of Home Affairs, you made my day/year/LIFE!!!

for those who's been waiting since 2016 (long time), there is must be something dodgy with the application that they couldn't approve straightaway, but they wouldn't tell you what's exactly wrong. what's the chance of application refusal in the end? are they just waiting for us to give up ourselves? is there a point keeping waiting?

Not necessarily. What do you mean dodgy?

Obviously its worth waiting. You are clearly worried which is a goood indication that you want to stay/come to aus.

Massive growth in Australia's ballooning temporary migration is dwarfing the Government's cuts to the permanent intake.

The number of people who hold bridging visas — the same kind of visa given to the Commonwealth Games athletes who are seeking asylum — has hit a historic high.

At the end of March, 195,000 people with bridging visas were in Australia, including more than 37,000 whose nationality was not specified.

That is up more than 40,000 on a year ago, and close to 90,000 since 2014, according to official Department of Home Affairs figures.

It has pushed the number of people in Australia on temporary visas to more than 2.2 million — again, a record high.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has said the Government was planning on cutting the permanent migration intake from its traditional level of 190,000 per year, down to approximately 170,000 this year.

But that number is dwarfed by the scale of the temporary visa program.

In the past year an additional 150,000 visitors are in Australia on temporary visas, including 33,000 more foreign students.

The Government has rolled out an overhaul of both temporary and permanent migration programs in the past year.

Jonathan Granger, director of Granger Australia and a former national president of the Migration Institute of Australia, described the migration program as "chaotic", saying processing times in major visa streams including the temporary skill shortage (formerly code 457), employer-nominated scheme and skilled independent visas had all grown in recent years.

A Department of Home Affairs spokesperson said processing times were driven by a range of factors including:

    • the volume of applications received,
    • completeness of the application,
    • how promptly applicants respond to any requests from the department, and
    • the complexity of assessments in relation to health, character and national security requirements.

The boom in bridging visas has been driven by a mysterious component of 37,000 visa holders for whom the Department of Home Affairs will not reveal their nationality. The Department of Home Affairs declined to provide more explanation about this group.

Really strange the unspecified nationality thing. Any hazard a guess?

Ooo I actually have a question, what do we think - when our apps are received, do they sit in one big database which can be accessed by any processing center, so we don't know which is going to process ours until it's allocated? Or do they get allocated to a certain processing center's database meaning some people can be at the top of the pile quicker depending what processing center their app is with?

It really doesn't matter that much, just wondered it randomly and thought I'd add a different question into the mix

They will almost certainly sit in one database which will be fed into a CRM of some kind. As for the other questions im really not sure. Its almost random enough to suggest that ha.

Most likely priority express lanes or workflows will be set up based on certain criteria in my opinion. Think its likely they work on batches of occupations too as it could  be more efficient to process a sugar load of the same job through that way. I can certainly see the benefit and that would explain some of the randomness. Each pese is working on diff batches of occupations at any one time maybe.

    Hello

Have any idea what r they doing
N how long they take to finalised the application after this status
As it was changed last month
N I did not hear any thing from them

They are assessing your file and nobody knows how long it takes. Its on a case by case basis. Could be a week, could be a year.

Unfortunately, as per forum rules I have removed the links which included bad language.

I understand your frustration and anger but please realise all you can do is take deep breathes and relax. Attacking the immigration department employees will not see your visa be expedited. Especially when a large number of them are on this forum and viewing your posts.

Have to agree with that. I think airing frustration is one thing and getting peed off with the lack of transparancy and clear process is one thing- attacking an understaffed workforce is another. I doubt they choose to be overworked!!

I wonder if anybody has seen their visa refused because of details shared on here. Wouldnt be surprised

I guess it all depends on the CO and the team. some granted without even ever uploaded recent docs (only docs prior to lodgment) . i dont know.. i am sorry for what happened.. but yeah, if you are meant to be here , you will be here and vice versa. Let the universe decides.

Well that is the case anytime before a refusal but once that letter comes out thats it.

I have supplied all the required documents to my agent. They didn't ask about the health examination. 186 DE  visa application just 2 weeks ago, do I really need do health examination at this early stage?

I would refer you MA's advice as thats what you pay them for. The department does clearly state however that applications should be decision ready when lodged. If it was me I would do it asap.

It's good the hear that people who applied in December 2017 are getting their decision now. It's mean processing time getting quicker than before.

It doesnt mean that at all, look at the spreadsheet. Its been happening the whole time unfortunately.
