  1. Suit and tie/your family history going back three generations/if you did well in the Mensa entrance exam the citizenship test is passable!
  2. I'm pretty sure it doesn't work on a first come basis nationally ....Sept does seem odd though!
  3. Test done and dusted now the wait for approval and the ceremony
  4. I received a test date during the week....test 09 Nov
  5. Mal and his not so clever pal have lost a sh*t-ton of votes but before you jump on the labor bandwagon consider their stance on other issues which are less desirable! Surely there has to be someone other than the two majors worth voting for?
  6. ..."The revised start date for the changes would be from 1 July 2018 if the government can seal a deal to get them through parliament." ..."SBS News understands all applications received until then will be processed under the existing law."... So....changes are inevitable....it's just a matter of time and negotiation but I would bet there will be some sort of English language testing, PR for more than 12 months etc. Importantly I hope the move to grab more power is cut short irrespective of future negotiations.
  7. The change in wording re. 20 April in that proposed amendment is still suspect and could culminate in retro. application depending on the interpretation!
  8. Potato head probably won't bring the bill to a vote, that way in his limited mind he wouldn't have lost! The bill will simply be iced! If nothing happens by tomorrow he'll have little choice but to process frozen apps in accordance with current legislation!
  9. It's not over for Dutton - his pride will likely prevent him from admitting defeat even at the expense of future votes! Anyway, it's not over until it is and the fat lady has yet to sing!
  10. Of all the changes this is the most significant: New Powers for Minister (possible but might be watered down a bit) - should be scrapped! A politician should never be in a position where he/she has too much power - for the most part they lack the mental capacity and self-control to properly administer the power with which they've been entrusted. As for asian and chinese communities implying there's a racist under-current to the proposals...well....that's just frustrating (ever heard the story of the boy who cried wolf?)! If the presumption of racism exists why put yourselves through the misery of staying here? Surely then they would be for more comfortable in a more familiar less hostile environment? I suspect accusations of suspected racism are simply more convenient than actually having to come up with a structured and sensible argument!
