Hello, long time silent observer here. This forum posts have been a great help to me so far, and I would like to share my timeline:
187 DE, onshore, LR, 1 person
State: QLD
Processing centre: WA PESE
Visa application done by myself, nomination and RCB done through MA by employer.Occupation: Dentist
RCB approval: 24 Mar 2017
Visa and nomination submitted: 1 Apr 2017
Nomination approved: 11 Aug 2017Additional documents (AFP clearance) requested: 11 Aug 2017
Visa granted: 28 Sep 2017
Called up immigration this noon, and was advised that generally when you are requested for additional documents, your case will be reviewed in 30 days, but due to high volume of applications, this is being delayed. Yet got visa approved in less than 3 hours.
Hope this helps.Congratulations. Best wishes in your future life here.

Here is the policy statement guidance from the department about how long they will accept medical clearances. There is some discretion by the decision maker that can be exercised.
When can the validity of a health clearance be extended
If the validity period of a health clearance can be extended, this can be done only for 6 months and only if:
- there were delays in processing the visa application for which the medical examinations were completed and these were not caused by the visa applicant, or
- there are compelling or compassionate reasons.
Such extensions should not be given automatically.
Note:
- The validity of a health clearance completed for a previous visa application which has already expired should not, unless compelling and compassionate circumstances exist, be extended to facilitate re-use of a previous health clearance.
- If an applicant has lodged a new visa application has HAP has already successfully ‘re-used’ a health clearance (completed for a previous visa), and this health clearance expires shortly after ‘re-use’ for the new pending application, officers should keep in mind that the delays in processing provision would not generally be in respect of the newly-lodged visa applications. These cases may fall under the ‘compelling or compassionate’ provision.
- Extensions beyond those above are not available in any circumstances and processing officers should manage this. If it appears that a health clearance is about to expire before visa grant, processing officers should organise for health examinations to be undertaken again.
- Where the applicant’s health clearance has expired, and no further extensions are available, applicants are required to complete medical examinations.
Thanks for that.
So , for many of us who have medical expired over 6 months this means we have to spend more time and money getting them redone. ?!
this whole pr thing with its language tests, medicals police checks etc etc seems to be a big money spinning cartel between the govt and private companies.
Oh well, knowing that we are at the bottom of the pile of Australian society there's not much we can do but fork out more cash.

Congratulations mate. Best of luck for getting the visa approval.

I think what they are doing are rejecting applications that have incomplete supporting documents. Ie AFP checks , BAS statements. Medicals etc.
another thing that may be happening with this visa is more and more people deciding to withdraw their applications because they don't want to be in this limbo for one and a half years. They just is no certainty, especially if you have children.

This morning I am going to sign for a 6 month lease for a new and cheaper house. I hope my visa will allow me to stay that long. We kept postponing the move because we were afraid that some how our visa application wouldn't go through so we were waiting for a visa outcome first. We could have saved so much $$$ (more than 1 year has passed) if we only knew the process was going to take this long. But we can't live this way in stand by. We are taking the risk, hopefully it will be paid off. :-)
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkExactly in same situation. I've been thinking about moving for ages. But with our uncertain situations we just can't afford to take on such commitments.
Ive even been putting off some repairs to my car , thinking if I get pr I'll buy a new one or if no pr then I can just sell it cheap. But don't know how long things are going to drag on for.

When speaking to immi one thing she mentioned was that even when a file is being assessed they do not always update your immi account to show that.
So your file may be allocated, assessed and further info requested but when you check your file it shows no change.
I know someone who was on another visa . He had is file allocated and assessed and pr granted but the immi account showed no change till three weeks after he got his pr. !

What's the longest people here have been waiting for?
I'm from 19 March 2016.
Dont think there is anyone on this forum before that.

I spoke to immi today. The girl on the phone told me that my file has been allocated to a team since may this year and is being actively assessed.
I asked for details of the case officer but she said there is no individual co, but rather a team.
However, immi account has not changed since I lodged my application in March 2016, neither has anyone from immigration been in touch with my Ma or myself not my employer
Getting somewhat confused and concerned now.

Thanks Razza,
I applied onshore and have been working with my employer since December 2015, but we only applied in February...
My migration agent has told me about another case were an application was made in December 2015 and so far they are still waiting for the file to be allocated. (same in WA). I will give her a call and see if that application is still pending...
Back in June /July My agent had a couple of cases from December 2015 as well. Don't know if they have been processed yet.

Yes, you can track your nomination application. Give your agent your immiaccount username and ask him to share the nomination application to you. After he does that, you will see two applications(one is visa, the other is nomination) in your own immiaccount.
Ok. That's new to me. Immi have always told me they can only give nomination details to either the Ma or employer.

Hi, as we can track our visa application through immiaccount, is there anyway we can track nomination application as well? anf if we can what details we need for this?
No. Nomination is to do with the immigration dept and your employer. Only they can request details regarding nomination progress.

Almost 18th month and all quiet on the western front.
Not a squeak or a creak or a peep from our friends in immi.
-
So my assumption is this:
1. Ensure that your applications are 'decision ready'. All this about tactically uploading police check etc at a later date so that they are still valid a year later does not work. Upload ALL docs and then let them expire, then pay more money to get more recent docs and upload again.
2. For those of us who have been waiting many months ( ,since mid-march 2016 in my case) ,this is a slight glimmer of good news in sofar as I can assume my my correct and sufficient documents are uploaded. And that immi hasn't had the need to refuse my application because of lack of paperwork.
I hope that makes sense. Long day at work!!!
Happy Waiting!!

My MA has had a couple of his clients do this. They cannot afford to stay in limbo for so long and have decided to withdraw their application and return back home.
