  1. Hi all,

I have just arrived in Brisbane and am just starting the Vetassess/Futureskills process. The only thing stressing me out is the DOL starter diagram, wiring and testing! Does anyone have advice/diagrams that they can send me so I can have a look. Didn’t work with motors in the uk. Thanks in advance.

  2. Hi all, we are heading to Brisbane in the new year on a PR visa so will have to get a QLD licence.

On my UK licence I have C1 entitlement so upto 7.5 tonne. What class will I get when I transfer to the QLD licence do you know??

Also I do not have towing entitlement on my uk licence, do you get this automatically in Australia?

    Thanks in advance.

Is anyone else just a citizen by decent and applied ?? Getting worried now as all my info - birth cert etc is British but I have citizenship from my mum. I've provided my citizenship  certificate to prove this but I'm my RFI they asked for full Birth cert and passport 🙈.. starting to panic now that hubby may not be able to get the visa!!

Hi my wife was Citizen by decent, we uploaded her uk birth certificate and Australian citizenship cert and all was good for me getting my visa. Good luck.

Any more movement for anyone? Not a dickie bird on my husbands application submitted 31st January 19. Early days I know but our house purchase completes next week. How frustrating to have an empty house waiting for us in Australia!! Anyone think its worth uploading a statement to advise our house purchase is completed? We own it out right and only have a lease for our UK rental until September. After that my hubby will move in with family temporarily as we cant afford for him leave his well paid job in UK without a permit to work in Aus. I will relocate with the children in Sept (we are all aussie passport holders, only DH is British). I have shipping, pets and job ready to go too, so cant delay moving. How sad that the visa system is going to split us up! Stressful really dosnt even get close 😨

Fingers crossed for you @roomummy, hope it all works out for you.

@SydneyBound I arrived in perth at the end of october, then on to Brissy in January....boy did I bake.... the humidity!!!! Jeepers!!!

Generally I'm finding things ok - I've been in work for about 6/7 weeks now but and they've been very welcoming 🙂  Didn't find it too difficult getting work at all, I was pretty chuffed I got this one though! I'd really like to start making a conscious effort to make some friends. As we dont have children, I think you can miss out on just chatting with other mums etc...  My partner doesnt have any family in Brissy either so I can feel a little isolated when he goes off doing boy things...  Anyway I've managed to sign up to a singing group on thursdays - this week will be my first time.... wish me luck!!!

Just read through all the posts and updated spreadsheet 🙂 hang on in there guys..... it will happen....  it was the most stressful thing and I lost so much sleep over it but you''ll just want to bottle up the feeling when the golden email arrives 🙂

Thanks for updating the tracker and instructions on adding a signature, it makes waiting a little bit easier...hope you settle well in Brissy!

@Woodydj82  do you mean the visa application itself or a document? Mine says received on main page beside my name.

    Check your application status

If you applied online you can check your visa application status in ImmiAccount.

We assign a status to your application to show progress.

The status shows next to your application in 'My applications summary'.

    • Incomplete means you have started but not completed an application.
    • Ready to submit means you have completed an application and can submit.
    • Submitted means you have submitted an application.
    • Received means we have received an application from you and can assess it within the current processing times.
    • Initial assessment means we are assessing your application.
    • Further assessment means we are assessing the information we requested from you.
    • Finalised means we have made a decision. We will notify you by email or post.

Note: The application status for My Health Declarations and Partner sponsorship forms will always display a status of submitted and will not change to a status of received.

@mppc thanks for this, the last paragraph of what you uploaded states the sponsorship form will stay as submitted.

    mind now at ease.

    Thanks

  7. Advice please?

My wife who is the Australian Citizen filled out on my immi account a “sponsorship for partner to migrate to Australia” form ( which I believe is the 40SP form even though it doesn’t state this?)

We submitted this back in January and on the account it still states submitted. Should this not say received?

Please can someone either put my mind at rest that this is ok or whether I need to send a technical help form?

    hope the above makes sense??

    Thanks

  8. Thanks for the replies.

i spoke to Vetassess this morning and I am not eligible for the skills assessment as I have been off the tools for to long. You have to working as an electrician for 12 months within the last 36 months. This is even though I have all my uk qualifications and have 10 years plus experience as an electrician.

Never mind, fancied a career change anyway.

  9. Hi all,

I am an Electrical Project Manager in the uk at present. My wife is an Australian Citizen by descent and we have started our partner visa application to move to Brisbane later this year.

I have been trying to look at similar electrical project manager roles in Australia but I am unsure if I need my Eletrical license? If I do need a license does any one know how I get one!!

As I have been off the tolls since 2014 I have been advised that I need to Be working as an electrician now or to bend the truth with my references which I categorically do not want to do.

Has anyone on here been able to secure a similar role without a license or done the assessment whilst not working on the tools.

    Thanks in advance
