  1. Perthbum, Im an aussie returning home after 18 years in the UK... so I am returning in the right direction My children are all dual nationals. I have absolutely NO intention of living in the UK again and have made the decision to move back home now that I am in my 40s and feel that being nearer to family is the priority at this stage in my life. I have listed some ball park figures above for moving the horses and Im sure that the investment in their relocation will more than pay for itself in the future breeding program and conservation of the species. Its a very exciting project...if not a little daunting at times. Like moving internationally isn't hard enough lol
  2. There us already some Fell ponies in Australia, that have done very well so my founding Dales stock will be a wonderful addition to the Australian equine community. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using PomsinOz mobile app

  6. Hi Toots, I have Dales Ponies. They will be the first of their kind to be exported to Australia. They are category 1 endangered and only 330 registered breeding mares remain. The hope is that making them available in other parts of the world will increase there popularity and help boost numbers. They are currently doing well in the UK, Germany and France. I compete my Dales in endurance to a high national and international level and I'm hoping they that I can continue in my passion to breed some Dales for the future. The Dales is highly regarded as a alrounder horse that can perform in many disciplines. My daughter is also a very successful endurance rider and we plan to continue challenging the Arabians in this amazing sport.
  7. Thank for the replies... really helpful suggestions. I've done some additional digging on the customs & quarantine website. Seems all the equipment can be professionally washed with products, (IE: virocon S.), dried, and packed with labels stating the companies name and contact details, the products used and it's bar codes, receipts for product purchase, the date of the treatment and any other relating information. The equipment can travel with our personal belongings but must be clearly labeled in its own boxes and not mixed with our house stuff, so it's easily identifiable by customs. I will of cause check with IRT and our shipping company but it's nice to hear from others and I would like to hook up with anyone who's done this before so I can be as informed as possible. Of cause sports horses travel daily in race industry and international competition so I don't think it's a big deal in essence but I would like to avoid any unnecessary dramas or costs if I can help it. The cost for moving the horses is a mind blowing £15k each plus local transport door to door. Hence the low numbers of horses being moved from the UK to Australia. The cost is justified in my horses breed type and rarity. A passion I have spent much of my life working with and I simply can not return home without. The herd consists of a small breeding trio that has many more values to me than money. Yes we will have our own property to move the horses into after quarantine. I will be very pleased to share my experiences as they unfold for anyone who's is interested.
  8. Hello Pet Lovers, A few questions to those of you who may have moved your horses to Australia. I have 4 horses who have made the cut to be relocated to Australia with us in 2018. I have my quote from IRT...I've got over the shock, my husband's talking to me again and now my search for information about relocating my equine kit is required. Can I ship my Equine equipment with our household furniture, clothing and personal items? If so where can I find detailed information about preparing it for shipping and should I prepare myself for any additional taxes or fees to ship my equine equipment and paraphernalia? Anyone who owns a horse knows how expensive all the kit is so I dont really want to sell and buy it again, plus much of my leather goods, saddles and bridles etc are custom made and fitted for each horse. A guide to the types of items are: 4 saddles, 4 bridles, grooming kits, boots, wraps and headcollars, Buckets, feed bins and saddle racks, lunge lines, saddlecloths and numnahs, fly rugs and turnout sheets etc...etc!

  10. Does anyone know if we would qualify for the first time buyers stamps duty concessions? I have a principle family property in the UK but never purchased a property in Australia. Seems to be a grey area in my investigations.
  11. Dear All, Some advise needed in relation to selling our UK home and buying a family home in Oz. I am an Aussie returning home after 17 years in the UK. I own a family home here in UK (with a small mortgage) and am wishing to sell it in advance of our relocation. I plan to rent for 1 year in UK after the sale of our house in order to finalise my affairs, work contract and conclude the children's school year. Whilst renting in the meantime I would like to start the search for a family home and hopefully purchase ready to move into whilst we are still renting. I am hoping to be mortgage free in Oz and purchase a home outright with the equity from my existing home. What is the best way transfer equity from Uk in order to buy in Australia, attracting the least amount of fees in the middle as possible? I am currently compiling a budget planner so I can predict my financial position in advance of marketing our house later this year (2017) in view of relocating in 2018. I am assuming that I could put any equity into a holding account here in the Uk and transfer the required cash directly to the vendor when purchasing in Australia via transferwise or Moneycorp? So the only fees to purchase a home would relate to this transfer? Thank you in advance.
  12. Thank you everyone for your replies. Very helpful. I have a right to remain visa for the UK and my understanding is that I can return on this visa within 2 years of being out of the UK without it lapsing. Hopefully this woud be plenty of time to have decided the permanancy of the remocation, I'd like to think our decisions would be firm well in advance of embarking on this adventure. I have never applied for a British Citizenship due to personal choice, Ive always hoped I would return to Australia, up until recently the timing just hasnt been right. All of the children are dual passport holders. The childrens ages I listed are how old they will be when moving. I have considered the schooling ages and my older son will be finished his college course at this time. Great advise for husbands Australian visa! I had no idea it would/could take that long. We are looking at the Mid NSW Coast on an acerage as my family have beef country in the area, so I think the dogs will be very well catered for. Its the selling and sorting at this end that seems the most daunghting. I think renting after a sale is the best option for us to ensure a smooth finacial transition. Thanks everyone. Im sure I will have lots of questions in the future.
  13. Dear All, I'm an Aussie lady who's been in the UK for 16yrs now. In that time I've married a pommy fella and we have 4 children. We are in the early stages of planning our relocation back to Australia to be nearer to my family, I just feel it's time now and I'm excited to be thinking of returning home. We are planning a relocation for 2018. Now for the complicated part. We are going to need to sell our home in Oxford to fund the relocation and free up equity to buy a new property in Oz, I'm sure many people do that. But thinking logistics how have others managed this process? Rent after sale then move? Coordinate sale with move? I'm running a spreadsheet with some predicted costs but I'm sure there are things I'm missing off the list. Can anyone share a costings sheet or logistics tracker they have used as an example? We will be relocating dual citizenship children age, 18 (with a disability), 14, & 10. British hubby who is a Property Maintenance manager for a construction company, myself I am a Office manager in Business center and our 2 border collies. We have the luxury and support of all my family down under with free temporary accompanying available at the other end. Also are there any particular recruitment agencies specialising in British CV applications? Is it advisable to start job searching this far in advance? It would be really helpful to have some logistical guidance so we know where to start and have a guide against any unseen hazards! I appreciate every move will be different but wondered how others have managed the process. Thanks for reading
