Yeah I had my doubts that they do. What do they expect, them being all secretive about the ceremony process? Its high up there and waiting for six months is a long time. -

What happened? lol Yeah, they have the recording thing for Dept. of Human Services as well. They have a disclaimer played out the first thing when you call them. They say to mention if you don't want them to record. I just let them lol I can provide some good banter -

I am in regional Far NQ in Townsville and I applied in April, got approved 2 days after my test in July. No dates yet. -

Have you rang DIBP? Sometimes it depends on the waiting list and how apt is the comms between DIBP and the council. -

That's excellent news!!! Congrats!!!!! It will most likely be that date. A lot of places have a big ceremony in September so you might well be in that. I think they also want to probably make way for Australia Day ceremony so they might do a big one in Sep and clear the back log. I might call them today now, I was approved on the 15th and they did not have anything for me last week -

Yeah I'd like to know this too. I rang them on Wednesday about the passport and they did not have a date yet. So I am definitely not in the Aug one, shame its the same day as my birthday. How amazing that would have been! -

Oh no! I did not know you were in the same boat. I am just regretting not applying for citizenship last year in Canberra where its super fast and rather waited till I moved to Townsville where it seems the ceremomy is taken quicker than a test date. Now I did ring the Passport office and they said the same thing but I too have read on the other forums that people have applied for passport the same day going to AUSPOST directly after the ceremony. I might just do that if I have one in Dec otherwise I'll have to postpone my trip to next year as I have already booked my tickets. I envy my husband and my son. No need of this stress at all lol. -

Thank you <3 Nah my husband's originally Hungarian but lived in Austria and migrated to Aus when he was 7 So he's already a citizen years ago haha I wish I was a Defence recruit, it would be done in 3 months. We have a friend, he's a lateral transfer from the UK army and he had his oath done within 3 months. -

I am in Townsville so two business days might only work if I am in a capital city. Also the DIBP said that its ideal to wait 7 days after receiving your certificate so I won't cut it anyway. Shame that we got posted to Townsville (Defence family), I got my son's passport when we were travelling to Europe last time in 2 working days, but we were in Canberra and it was sooooo easy. -

This is exactly what I mean. I am not even sure now what to do unless I reschedule my citizenship appointment if its in Dec and travel on my original passport. -

I can enter EU on my passport if I have my ceremony in Dec but I cannot return back to Aus as my PR will cease the day I take the oath. I cannot believe it. I rang the Passport office and the lady said she cannot ship the new passport to an overseas location. -

Chandnihorvath replied to FlashP5sub175's topic in Citizenship
Well the council said there's no backlog but the DIBP says there is. I rang them yesterday to check for my passport and to ask to be not put in Dec one if I cannot get an urgent passport as I won't be able to return back on my foreign passport. She said there's no tentative date yet anyway. The earliest it can come out is 2 months in advance but usually call around 3 weeks in advance from the date. Its annoying how for so many people it puts things on hold. She said that she cannot guarantee I won't be in the Dec one and I am like I cannot even use my own passport to travel overseas and return peacefully lol. smh -

Oh mate what a shame! I am lucky in that sense I guess coz my council has 12 ceremonies for the year and a big one on Citizens day (17th Sep) but I'll quote Alexandre Dumas for all of us 'wait and hope' lol. -

Chandnihorvath replied to FlashP5sub175's topic in Citizenship
Yeah seems straightforward but since I have rang them on Monday and its now 3 weeks since approval - there's been no tentative date. Maybe they do have a particular format to stick to. They deal with so many people so DIBP might be a bit overwhelmed I guess. -

I guess at the end of the day, there's nothing anyone can do except wait because all we can do is guesswork. Unless we know someone working for DIBP lol. -

This is so silly, if its true! I thought they'd want to get it over and done with to avoid backlog/over filling the venue. -
