That makes a lot of sense as we’re on 40 months at the moment and expect to get asked to do AoS in about a month or so! 😁 which would mean another 8/9 months until granted.

Are you able to prepare anything for AoS in advance? While I have to wait another 2 years before they even allocate a case officer, I want to know if I can prepare anything asit gets nearer. Thanks

That is your income but your wife can be assurer as well if not enough?

Current year and previous 2yrs proof of income not sure if increases. It didn’t increase for 10yrs I believe that’s why it’s hiked so much now !

Thanks Kath. I hope that doesn't mean Joint assurer as it will not make sense if we have to add each other as partners in calculation.

So what should be income requirement if me and my wife are assurer (with 1 child)  for 2 parents? Thanks

Income requirement for joint individual assurers
    (1) This section applies to an individual who gives an assurance of support jointly with another individual or other individuals.
Note: Individual means a natural person – see section 2B of the Acts Interpretation Act 1901.
    (2) The individual assurer meets the income requirement for a financial year if the combined amount of assessable income of the assurers for the year is at least the total of the following amounts:
    (a) the newstart income cut-off amount multiplied by the total of:
    (i) the total number of individuals giving assurance under the assurance of support; and
(ii) the total number of adults receiving assurance under an assurance of support given by the individual; and
(iii) the total number of partners of the individuals that are jointly giving assurance under the assurance of support; and
    (b) 10% of the newstart income cut-off amount multiplied by:

An agent did this for someone if it helps -bit less than you quote.B2613D27-D99D-4C25-B849-9C4B4AE251AE.thumb.png.16c5698fda62c60caa6fd4cd7585a604.png

    Hi Kath

Thats been sorted very well. I have 2 questions on AOS if someone can help. Thanks

    1. I fall under the category of me with partner and 1 child under 18 applying for 2 parents - $120,665. Is this combined income of myself and my wife (she works too)?  Is it group certificates from last 3 years to show income from previous years?

    2. Does this AOS income level increase every year?

    Thanks for your help

  4. Hi All

First of all, a big thanks to all of you here for helping people with your experience.

I have applied for 143 for my parents on 30/05/2017. I know I have another 12-18 months before dept will pickup my file.

From other people signatures, I gather first thing is to prepare for Medicals/AOS/Police Checks. Is there anything I can do to prepare myself to send these things back asap.

Can someone please provide more details or refer to a link giving step by step process for Medical/AOS/Police checks? or I just have to wait for request with all details? Thanks

Secondly, once Permanent residency is granted, do parents have to live continuously here to ensure it does not expire. Are there any requirements?
My parents may still prefer to continue to live in India even after the grant of 143 visa. I have applied for this visa to cover for the risk if they want to come here when they are too old.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    hello,

My parents have 2 sons and 1 daughter. Me and my brother is Australian citizen but my sister live with my parents. My parents are very old now and they are really very sick. and there is no one who can take care of them. now, me and my brother want to bring our parents and sister here. now i now we can bring them by contributory visa but that visa takes 2 to 3 years to process. but they are very sick so we want to bring them quickly here and thn apply for contributory visa. please, give me some advice how can i bring my parents and sister quickly here. is it possible to bring my sister with may parents by 3 years temporary parent visa? thanks

    Shaki

Most likely you will not be able to apply for contributory parent visa while they are here on tourist visa due to restriction in visa - Condition 8503 'No Further Stay'.

You should be able to apply for tourist Visa but they would have to go back and reapply for tourist visa to come back here again. If they have come on subclass 600 visa before, they may get 3 year tourist visa. Contributory parent visa can be applied offshore only if visa has above mentioned restriction.

  6. I am not sure why people are excited about the new proposed parent visa? Yes, it does give parent right to live in Australia continuously for 5 years but has anyone considered how much it would cost in private health insurance.

I have insurance policy for my parents with BUPA and they have recently increased fees to $1466 per month. At this rate, it would cost $87000 for parents to remain on temporary visa which is close to the cost of Contributory Parent visa. There is not enough competition between providers for health insurance policy for overseas visitors.

What are others planning to do with private health insurance for their parents once we have this new long stay Parent Visa? Thanks

In brief, an 8503 condition means they can't apply for a visa while they are in Australia.

Lodging an application for a visa doesn't cancel an already granted visa.

    Best regards.

Thanks Alan for your reply. Does this mean that my parents can still come and go under Tourist Visa (600) while it take 2 1/2 - 3 years to settle subclass 173 CPV?  I was thinking applying for new visa cancels existing visa. Thanks

  8. Hi
My parents have been granted (feb 17) Visitor visa (subclass 600).  They are currently outside Australia.
I plan to apply for Contributory Aged Parent (Temporary) (Subclass 884) or Contributory Aged Parent (Residence) (Subclass 864) for them .

Visitor Visa has 8503 - NO FURTHER STAY condition which will not allow me to apply for Subclass 884/864 visa when they are onshore and Subclass 884 visa says "You cannot apply for this visa if you already hold another visa that has a ‘No further stay’ condition."
Subclass 864 says "You must be in Australia at the time you apply for this visa. You can only apply if your temporary visa allows you to apply for another visa while you are in Australia. "

Does this mean I cannot apply for Subclass 884/864 for my parents at all? Why is that so? They are 69/68 years old and falls under Aged category. Thanks

Is my only option under Contributory visa is subclass 173/143 as they can be applied offshore? I think I am looking at 32 Months wait period for 173 if I go that path. Thanks

2nd Question - If I apply for subclass 173, will that cancel their Tourist Visa (subclass 600) How can they come to meet us in Australia while they are waiting for their subclass 173 visa outcome? Thanks

    Thanks
    Aman
