  1. Letter for Ceremony Invitation received yesterday for me and my wife Blacktown NSW Council. We missed the last ceremony on 11th Oct 2018 due to my work travel. Now we have been scheduled for the ceremony again on 8th Nov 2018.

    Hope things go well.

All the best who all are waiting. You will get there.

  2. Thank you. I am thinking to call council and request them to accomodate me in next date.

Nature of my job includes travel a lot it is very difficult to make last minute changes. I have informed my boss if next ceremony date comes in the middle of my travel week we need to cancel the travel.

This time I am speaking in a conference which can not be changed so I can not cancel my travel plan as it’s been scheduled for me long before and I also updated my travel plans to immigration department.

As per immi suggestions and your experience I will not attend though I will call council.

    Thank you.

  3. Today I received the letter for our ceremony. But unfortunately, we can not attend as I am traveling for work in the same week. I already updated immi about my travel plans a month ago but still, they scheduled my ceremony in that week.

I called immi to reschedule the ceremony date and I got the most unexpected answer from the lady who picked up the call. She told me just do not attend the ceremony and you then you will receive a letter of non-attendance after that we will put in waiting list again and schedule your ceremony in next available date.

  4. Hey Guys. Sorry for the delay in replying back was having some health issues. I and my wife both did not take Birth Certificate in the test. My CO asked me for the birth certificate, but when I told that I used my passport as birth proof he got a bit irritated. Though he accepted the passport as birth proof. For my wife, the case officer did not even bother to ask the birth certificate. I think we were lucky to get good Case officers and maybe our Police check was already there with them so Case officers accepted and approved our application on the same day of the test.

If you do not want to try your luck Indian Embassy can issue the birth certificate based on the passport.

I believe if you have not changed name Passport will be enough but again depends on case officer.

Case officer had the valid reason not to accept Passport and 10th Certificate as birth proof. Below was his words.

    My Case Officer words:

"As passports are not made just after birth so it is not exactly proof of your birth. How will we know that you have not changed your name since birth? Your birth year is 1985 but the passport was made in 2011 so maybe you have changed the name in between those years we can tell it is your real name. Me as CO as depends on what documents I will accept."

  5. That’s so cool. Immigration would be so fast I never imagined. Now the wait begins for the ceremony. My local council is Blacktown NSW.

For the documents I did not had my Birth Certificate as Indian passport has all the details. The case officer was very good and humble. He pressed on Birth Certificate but accepted my docs and told me that if there is no change in name then birth certificate is not compulsory. But it’s good to have birth certificate then you will not face any issues and delay. Me and wife both were lucky that it did not effected our application. My case officer asked for birth certificate but wife’s case office did not even asked for the birth certificate. I think we were lucky to get good officers.

Lets wait for the approval letter and ceremony letter in postbox.

My passport does not show my parents' details, so I provided my birth certificate. I think it is best to have it ready if you have it on hand.

It's better to bring more documents for support.

I called immi today. They told me that whatever document you have uploaded as proof of date of birth and if it contain all the birth related details just bring that to interview which is in my case my passport which I uploaded. They told its a generic mail which we sent to everybody in actual we want all the docs which you upload with your forms.

  7. Thanks. Just want to understand as I was going through immi website they just need a document which mentions DOB, place of birth and parents details. All this information is on my passport. Do you think we still need birth certificate. Even with my online application I did not uploaded it as birth proof. I just used my passport and it seems like immi accepted it as I got test date invite.

  8. Hey Guys I have test on 28th June. Just a small confusion for birth proof I have uploaded my passport which has details of my DOB and parents. Do I really need to get birth certificate? Because I have not uploaded birth certificate so do I need to take it in the interview. What else I should take in interview except the I had already uploaded with my application?

I think you need to contact them to send you the citizenship certificate for Bubba. Once you get that you can apply passport for the child.

Thanks Sheila, I think immi sends letter and evidence through post by themselves once application gets finalised. Let me wait for another week then I will contact immi.

  10. Within 6 months your file was opened

My file was also opened within 6 months but then Immi had some questions related to my companies sponsorship. Human resource manager and my MA sorted out the issues by taking to CO directly but it delayed my visa approval for a month and then they requested some extra documents. After submitting the additional docs got my visa within 20 days.

It seems most of us get our files open within 6 months but after that department does random internal and external checks which delay the processing. Specially people like us who are from HR country.
