So excited to say I got my Grant notification today for my 189 visa. It's been an incredibly tough journey - I received a negative skills assessment back in October from Vetassess, which I had over-turned within 3 weeks (which everyone said was impossible) via an appeal process. I then got my invitation on the 18th December, Lodged my application on the 23rd December, and got my grant today. I should also mention I applied for a bridging visa b yesterday, so they must have accelerated their decision because of that. I also had made sure my application was 'decision ready' with medicals and police checks all done in advance!! So happy days - good luck to everyone else and thanks for the support!

Hey everyone! I'm hoping to get an invite in the next SkillSelect round, this Friday 18th December! 'The Captain' thinks it's highly likely! My existing visa expires Jan 11th, so I'm pretty stressed about it as you can imagine! I'm just wondering when those who got invites in previous rounds, actually received them? I've heard Skillselect generates invites bang on Midnight (i'm already in Australia so I'm talking local time). If so I might stay up late and wait!! Eeeek What time of day have people received invites? If there's another thread on this, then please point me in that direction!! Exciting times ! Thanks Matt

Hey Supercow. I just wanted to thank you SO much for your post. I am grappling with major time pressure on my application for a 189 visa before my 485 expires, and having recently failed to get the required 8 in the writing on IELTS, I found your post randomly through google!! It totally helped so much, and gave me so much confidence to go ahead with PTE, and I'm delighted to say I got my results just over 24 hours since sitting the test and got 90 90 90 90!! Thanks so much - it takes a lot of effort to sit down and share your experience in the way that you did. So please know that it has made a huge difference to so many people. Really, thank you! No here's hoping I get an invitation in the next Skillselect round on the 18th Dec! :-) Matt

Hey Captain, I got my PTE English marks back today 90 90 90 90!! So happy - and thankful to the person who did a big post on PTE. I immediately put my EOI in. So I got the EOI in a day earlier than planned!! Here's hoping i make it in the 18th Dec round before my visa expires 11th Jan!! Thanks mate, I'll keep everything crossed then, and spend every spare minute doing practice tests for Pearson! Do you have any idea when we'll know more about the dates of the January rounds!? So hoping there is one before 11th Jan!!! Eek

Hey Captain! Thanks so much for helping us all out! I'm in a bit of a tough situation. I'm on a 485 which expires 11th Jan 2016. I had to go through an appeal process with Vetassess - which I successfully did, but only got a positive skills assessment back today. I also got my IELTS results - and will need to do another test, because I didn't get over 8 in the writing - I'm planning to do the pearson test on Wednesday - which I have heard people get results back within 3-5 days. So Captain - Assuming I pass my English test for maximum 20 points Superior english, and lodge my EOI on Friday, is there any chance I'd get an invitation on the 18th Dec? Is there any point in lodging an EOI now (assumptively on the basis I will pass the test - no pressure!!) If not, do you have any information on when January rounds are - as if it's after 11th Jan - I'm screwed? 1) 272314 2) Psychotherapist 3) 65 (assuming I get superior english) 4) Hopefully - by 11th December.
