  1. We had already set up our Immi account prior to applying for the Visa so that we could be given our HAPIDs. We had also sent away for our PCCs as well beforehand. We found out that we had been invited to apply on the 5th, on the same day that we had our medicals undertaken in Edinburgh; but we didn't actually make the application until we knew our medical results were uploaded by the hospital, on the 12th (after reading advice on the forums stating that applying after having completed medicals but prior to results being uploaded by the assessor can sometimes screw up the HAPID and slow things down!). We received our PCC checks around the 15th, set up an appointment with a lawyer for the 19th, to certify the police checks, and uploaded that night. We had EVERYTHING certified by a lawyer (belt and braces!) in the hope that any Case Officer seeing that would assume that all was ok, and would therefore be more likely to give us a Direct Grant. We didn't, and don't, know if this makes any difference; but Hey Presto!!! We decided that we wouldn't touch the Form 80 though; its a monster. We were never asked!
  2. We got two emails. The first email stated that my EOI application had been "removed". When I read that first thing this morning, I soiled myself! But the next three emails (one each for me, my wife and my son) from "auto-letter-generator@border.gov.au" stating some bumph plus the words "Grant Notification" in the subject line made me feel a bit better! I'll be armed to the teeth with paper copies, copies on phones, tablets and iPads when we pass through customs in February, as well as our passports!!!!!!! :jiggy:
  3. Direct grant received this morning. Two weeks exactly after application - can't believe it! :ssign19:
  4. I don't mean to start a bummer of a thread here , but I'm curious to know details about instances where applications for 189 visas have been refused by DIBP. Specifically why have they been refused; and if they have, what did the communications surrounding it look like? There seems to be hardly any posts anywhere on site surrounding refusals and I'm not sure if that's because it only happens once in a blue moon, or (understandably) those unfortunate to get one just don't post anything about it!
  5. We got our email invitiing us to apply for a visa straight after completing our medicals in Edinburgh, yesterday. You were spot on. Thanks!
  6. No. I chose both initially and then removed the 190 EOI on 22/09, which left the 189 EOI which had been in place beforehand.
  7. Thanks very much for the reply. That's what I thought. However when I look at the "Date of Effect" on my EOI landing page it says 08/09, but the PDF of the actual EOI when downloaded from Skillselect says 22/09! Hopefully we're both right!
  8. Hi CaptainC. I don't know if you missed my earlier post below (I wouldn't be surprised as you apparently now have a second job on here!), but what do you think? Dependant on how it is assessed will obviously make a great difference on any Invitation date.
  9. Hi CaptainC. I've got a process question for you: What is my actual EOI date? I first set up my EOI on 30/8 with only 55 points after not quite getting Superior on IELTS (a bummer, I can tell you. I was 0.5 away!). I then switched after some research and sat the Pearson PTE test and got the Superior rating, which pushed me up to 60 points. I updated the EOI as a result on 08/09. However I had also previously included a 190 expression for WA and then realised that it was Schedule 2. I am not sure of the ins and outs of the state sponsored route, but was worried that as a Schedule 2 I might get invited without a contract in place which would negate that invitation (and you only get the possibility of 2!); so I removed the 190 expression on 22/09. I'm hoping 08/09 as it's earlier, and think it should be based upon an earlier post by you which mentioned that it is only when amendments to EOIs are made which change points that it will make a difference to the effective date. What do you think? p.s. If you can follow that, well done!
  10. Thanks Captain. Do you know why they changed to monthly invitations over the past three months when it was fortnightly for ages prior to that?
  11. Hi CaptainC. My wife and I have had great fun watching you bat back and forth people's questions regarding their applications in recent weeks and thought we'd have a go. Here goes: 1: 251312 2: Occupational Health and Safety Adviser 3: 60 points 4: 08-09-15 Be nice!
