  1. I have applied for my police checks and I have medicals arranged for my wife, daughter and I on the 18th November. Fingers crossed that they all go well, so after that what sort time am I looking at for the processing and granting of a 189 visa for all three of us? I am the main applicant with my wife and daughter dependant applicants. Has anyone had any significant delays from this point relating to either their police checks or medicals?
  2. I'm applying for a 189 visa and the Immi site states this has a 3 month processing time.
  3. Yes, i'm applying for permanent residency. I have just downloaded my eMedical referral letters for each of us so i'll get them printed and organised. Thanks!
  4. Great, thank you. The medical centre said that the DIAC/Immi dictates what medical examinations each applicant must go through. Is this information available after clicking 'Get Health Details'? From what they say it's not a standard "medical" for everyone. I may be wrong.
  5. I have lodged a visa application for my wife, daughter and I and I am aware that I need police checks and also medicals. When I contacted the hospital/medical center in Edinburgh closest to me who perform the medicals I received this response: Does this mean that I have to wait to be assigned a case officer to be advised on what medical examinations my wife, daughter and I need to organise? I lodged our visa application about 10 days ago and I have requested police checks for my wife and I and I was hoping to organise the medicals to get everything done at my end to hopefully move the application on as quickly as possible. I understand there will be a significant processing time, but i'd like to give them everything they need ASAP. Any advice or shared experiences appreciated.
  6. thanks, I've uploaded as many documents as I can just now. I don't have medical and police checks yet, but when I have them I'll be sure to upload them promptly. What is the "form 80"?
  7. great thanks for this. I'll be sure to send a high quality version. out of interest how long was it from the point when you lodged your visa application and when you were assigned a case officer?
  8. Can anyone advise on how to send the Police Check Certificate to Immi? In the ImmiAccount I see there is an 'Attach Document' link beside 'Character Report' which I assume is for penal report/police checks. I note that Immi state you must provide the original for the police check - so does this mean it needs to be posted or can I scan a coloured copy and attach as normal? I'd be interested to hear what others have done previously in this case.
  9. Great, thanks. Were you aware that you would be allocated a Case Officer before you submitted the application? So did it take around one month from the time of lodging the application to being given a CO?
  10. Thanks for your comment. Did you do all your application yourself or did you enlist the services of a migration agent? My wife and I have done everything ourselves. Did IMMI ask you for any other documents and did you get in touch with them for anything?
  11. Are you sure? Regardless if they're colour or not surely they are copies if they are copies of the originals? See my other post to see what the letter says now. Also, did you have to upload documents?
  12. Thanks for replying. Did you get the "IMMI Acknowledgement of Application Received" document in an email when you submitted your application? In that document it says the following: Providing documents The department may make a decision on your application without requesting additional information. You should provide us with all the information you feel is relevant. If you lodged your application online, you should log in to your account to see the documents required for your application. Do not send us original documents unless we ask you for them. If you send copies of your documents, ensure that they are certified copies. If you provide us with fraudulent documents or claims, this may result in processing delays and possibly your application being refused. The first part worries me as I have paid out over £3,000 on the visas and I would hope that unless there is a really good reason they wouldn't reject my application without asking for some additional information. So, have you uploaded uncertified documentswithout having them notarised/certified by anyoneand have they accepted or acknowledged them?
  13. Hi, I notice you're originally from Kilmarnock. I'm from a nearby village :-) I don't think it's as simple as scan and upload as it states the documents have to be certified (I.e by a migration agent or similar). Did you have to provided certified documents too?
  14. I lodged my skilled migration visa application for myself, wife and my daughter on Sunday night. It is for a 189 skilled independent visa. Once the application was lodged and money was processed I noticed a section at the bottom of the page for Identifcation Documents such as birth certificate, marriage certificate, English test and others. There were more for me than there was for my wife and daughter who are both dependant applicants. Importantly all documents were marked as "Recommended" and not required or similar. Does anyone know if I need to provide all or some of these documents? Also if they will be required will someone from Australian Immigration contact me to provide them? many thanks.
  15. i don't remember ticking this box, however I booked my test in June so I may well have done it as it is true. Thanks for confirming. thank you, this makes sense. Obviously I want DIBP to have access to my test scores, I was just curious as to what or who initiated the email.
  16. Does anyone know how the Australian DIBP verify your PTE Academic English test score following submission of an EOI? I entered my scores during my EOI and I also noted a 'Send Scores' button in the PTE site. I didn't use this feature, however a day or so after submitting my EOI I received this email alert from Pearson: As you requested, your PTE Academic scores for the appointment listed above will be sent to the following recipient(s). Please allow one to two business days for a recipient to receive your score report. Department of Immigration and Border Protection - DIBP - Visa Applications Would this have been requested by DIBP or would Pearson have sent this on?
  17. Can anyone advise on how employment history should be entered during the EOI process? The question simply states "enter your employment history within the last 10 years". My employment history runs from July 2004 to present day, however the outcome of my skills assessment was that my employment "start date" was July 2010 as they took my first 6 years away from me. Does this mean I should only enter July 2010 onwards? I have went in to my EOI and amended it tonight which has brought me down to my expected points total of 70 (from 75). Also, does anyone have an email contact for SkillSelect? Thanks.
  18. Congratulations, that's classed as "Superior English" am I right? Also, 90 is the top mark. Any tips for us aspiring to that level?
  19. Thats interesting information although very frustrating too. My nearest exam center is Edinburgh and they are only operating once per month so if I fail my first attempt in September then I would have to wait until October at the earliest to re-sit...and that's assuming there is availability at that short notice. Has anyone else found limited availability in some centres? The site says they have flexible availability but I'd hardly call one Monday a month flexible! good luck with your re-sit across the water :-) I'm glad Dublin has good availability.
  20. Thise scores are very impressive, particularly the listening and speaking sections which look quite difficult to me. Are you aiming for Superior English meaning you need a score of 78-82 across the board? if so were you just one point away from gaining your required score? Did you manage to book another test at short notice? Where are you sitting the test? I'm sitting in Edinburgh and the availability is very disappointing (only one day per month for the next 6 months...and it's a Monday so I need to take a day off work)
  21. Thanks very much for posting this up. This gives me a lot of encouragement going in to my test in September. I feel like I have a good grasp of the English language, however I am still very nervous about sitting the test and having to do so multiple times. I know of someone that had to sit it 5 times before passing. One concern I have is the listening questions and the fact that you can't replay the audio to hear it again. I read somewhere else that a question was spoken by a Yorkshire farmer talking about farming. I think that is very unfair, if the English language is being judged it should be the Queen's English and not a regional dialect.
  22. Hi, This is my first post to the forum, so hi I am in the process of doing a Skills Assessment with the Australian Computer Society with the intention of applying for Permanent Residency in Australia. I have booked my IELTS English Test with Pearson for September, which hopefully gives me enough time to prepare. I am considering purchasing a couple of early bird tickets for Down Under Live, a Australian and New Zealand migration expo. http://www.downunderlive.co.uk/australia.php I am open to Employer Sponsorship, however my attempts at contacting prospective employers in the Perth area have been unsuccessful so far. Is it worth going along to this to get some more information? Is there likely to be any prospective employers there willing to sponsor? Many thanks.
