Thanks for this reply. This is good news, so as I understand it this means I can leave Australia for a total of 12 months over the 4 years and will still be eligible to sit my citizenship test in April 2020 (based on my initial entry to Australia in April 2016)? Also, on a similar note - my wife and daughter are on my visa so I'm 2020 would it only be myself that would need o sit the citizenship test or would my wife need to do it also?

I am planning on moving back to the UK with my family in May for a period of 6-7 months, returning to WA in January next year. I was granted a 189 independent skilled permanent residency visa early 2016 and I entered Australia in April of the same year. I recall there being a condition in the visa where I could only be outside Australia for up to a maximum of 12 months (cumulative) over the validity period of the 189 visa - however, I can no longer find this condition on the official site - https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa-1/189- Can anyone in the know advise me on the conditions of my visa now and if there is a 12 months restriction? I can't for the life of me find it on the website. Can anyone point me in the direction of this restriction? The goal of my family is to gain citizenship which I understand requires 4 years residency in Australia, but we need time back in the UK to see family and make further longer-term arrangements. I am planning on contacting the Immigration office in Brisbane, but I fear they won't reply or the lead time will be weeks or months away. I emailed them when my visa application was close to completion and I rarely received a response.

Visa identification at departure airport and on entry to Australia
martyfenwick replied to martyfenwick's topic in Visa Chat
Hi, what at visa did you apply for? I have the 189 visa and I was never sent any paperwork other than the visa grant notices that are attached to the email sent from your case officer. If you print these off and take them to you when you go to the airport to start your journey to Australia you will be fine. i was asked to show my grant notice letters at Glasgow airport, but nothing else. hope this helps. -
Hi, You can do the test at Cardiff University - http://www.cardiff.ac.uk/for/prospective/international/english-language-requirements.html Thanks.

Thanks. Is there anyway to verify the visa is linked to the passport(s) before I arrive at the airport? -
Visa identification at departure airport and on entry to Australia
martyfenwick replied to martyfenwick's topic in Visa Chat
Hi, i'm going on a 189 visa with my family. My wife's sister flew to Australia around 5 years ago and there was some confusion with their visa at the airport in the UK and they had to wait at the check-in desk whilst it was sorted out. They _nearly_ missed their flight because of it. I'm just trying to avoid a scenario like that. -
Can anyone advise what visa identification I need to provide to the airline upon departure from the UK and also on entry to Australia? I am flying with Emirates from the UK to Perth and I believe I need to show visa documentation to them and obviously to the border protection in Perth, WA. All I have is the Visa Grant Letter/Notices that were triggered from the ImmiAccount system. Should I have anything else? Is there anything more formal I need to present?

I've read some other forum posts on this subject, but the circumstances differ to mine. I am still waiting on my PR visa, however there is the possibility I could work remotely (at home in WA) for a UK company (not my current employer) what I'm hoping someone can confirm for me is : Should I be paid into a AUD account in AUD for tax reasons? Does it cost my employer extra to pay in AUD? Do I pay UK tax or Australian income tax? I don't want to be in the position where I'm paying double tax.

Hi, My CO asked for further information a couple of weeks ago which I provided and now my visa application shows "Assessment in Progress". Am I correct in thinking that firstly a decision is made (which I am advised of) and then there is further visa processing before the visa is actually granted? If there is any information online that anyone can send me in the direction of I'd be very grateful. thanks.

I have been asked to upload Proof Of Employment as part of my visa application, however I can't seem to upload a PDF of my current payslip. I just get a message saying "Field file name must not be blank". It's definitely not blank, I have the file selected for sure. I'm using Firefox - is anyone else having a problem with this? The PDF is 1.8mb in size, so not massive. i have filled out a complaint form, but I worry how long it will take for this to get picked up.

I have received an email this morning from "GSM Brisbane" asking for further information/documents, these are: proof of employment for myself and medical examinations for my wife, daughter and I. The ImmiAccount system is down for maintenance right now, so I can't check - but can anyone advise if I can upload proof via the ImmiAccount as I have done with other documents? The letter says something about replying in writing, which is quite confusing. From the letter: Request for more information for a Skilled - Independent (subclass 189) visa Processing your application I have begun considering your application for this visa and require additional information. Asummary of the information required for each applicant and a more detailed description ofeach requirement is included in the attached Request Checklist and Detail attachment. Timeframe for response You must respond to this request within 28 days after you are taken to have received thisletter. You should provide your response in writing. Please send your response to me using the contact details provided below.

Here are the prices that the medical center sent me. I believe it's quite expensive, however there's no way around it if you want your visa. Adult medical, ages 15 +, £319 (this includes the medical, x-ray and HIV blood test) Child medical, ages 11 – 14, £215 (this includes the medical and x-ray) Child medical, ages 0 – 10, £105 Hep B and C blood test are charged at £42.50 each. -

Yes, unfortunately you have to pay for the medicals and they're quite pricey. For my daughter, wife and I it's going to come in around £800-900! Yes, kids have medicals too - but they're less involved and cheaper than adult ones. -

What do they mean by using your health declaration? I think that is just a short questionnaire to give them a broad idea of your health before you go. I wouldn't imagine you would be able to book a medical without your HAP ID. They asked me for all HAP IDs for my family when I booked my medicals last week. I received a "NO TRACE" police check certificate back yesterday so i'm hoping my wife receives hers today since I done them a day apart. Our medicals are booked for a couple of weeks from now, so fingers crossed they go well and I can get them loaded into my visa application. I'm unsure of the processing time from _that_ point however.
