Thanks for response they are diplomas and I'm insured to practice them on the general public (but only as last month). Originally started doing them all to make some extra cash but I've enjoyed it that much I started doing more... Lol the HD brows was very expensive I know its all well recognised here but because I don't know the beauty industry in Australia I'm lost! I'm not even sure they offer HD brow products in Australia? Lol there's a lot to look into I suppose. I honestly don't know much about it all , I've just started building up these little things from scratch to compliment my make up artistry course (extra cash lol). I was told about the professional portfolio building course by a friend who went to Australia, but that was for a working holiday so a lot different... It's a very hard topic to find anything on !

I'm about to complete a professional make up artistry course including special effects make up. Also have a number of certificates for beauty treatments (HD brows, lash extensions, gel nails). But they are all separate courses I have been putting myself through over time. Has anyone had any trouble getting their beauty qualifications recognised? I'm just wondering because I know a lot of people usually do one big course where as I've gathered up loads of little ones. I was considering doing a course completely aimed at building up my professional portfolio with proper models/photography rather than just clients. It's looking like it will cost me anything between 1000-3000 as its with a top make up artist. Anyone know if this would be worth the money? I've only really been doing it since June but want to get as much under my belt as possible. Thanks

May sound silly, but there is just too much info on this on the internet sometimes. Can someone 'briefly' sum up how this works for me? If your job is on the CSOL, does that mean you can apply for sponsorship if you have a job to go to? My husband is exploring options for his little sister (not that she has a job to go to but just trying to show her options)

Were in the same boat, our only chance at a 189 is if my husband gets 8 or more in IELTS. Reading your post has made me think, dyslexia may also be my husbands problem ?? It always held him back in school. He doesn't have much experience either ( he's in air con and refrigeration ) so we lack points there which is why we desperately need the IELTS. We've been really worrying about it but fingers crossed

We were ideally looking at Queensland (Gold coast, Brisbane area) as my husband has family round that area but it doesn't look like they would sponsor his occupation . I've also found out the ceiling for refrigeration and air conditioning has been lowered which doesn't look good for us as he hasn't got the most experience. My husband thinks I'm thinking about it too much, he's the laid back one, I just worry ! Lol but hopefully I am just worrying about it too much and the revision will pay off.

Thanks again for replies Without superior English we only have 55 points. And if we decided to wait until he had the extra experience then we lose points for age (currently in the 25-32 band). So, the 190 may be a better option if we don't get the English. I'm really unsure of the requirements for other visas as I thought with us being British the English tests weren't going to be so hard and getting the points would be easy, but his English writing held him back even in school. All we can do is practice and hope for the best. I think we will take a look at the PTE though, it seems it may be the easier option for him. I don't want to end up being held back too long because as I said before, if we wait for the extra points for experience we lose them in age

Thanks for reply his English speaking, listening and reading is all fine. It's the writing we can't get past, he just struggles to get what he's trying to say down on paper. What are the other options for the English test? The only other one I've heard of is the PTE? If there was something with less writing it would be great! Lol the IELTS seems to have a lot of essay style questions which seems to be the problem.. But I'm sure we'll probably get them in all tests..

We are hoping to apply for a 189 visa. My husband is a refrigeration mechanic but only has 4 years experience (as far as the migration agent we spoke to knows the labour work he done before for the same company won't count). Unfortunately unless he gets 8+ in the IELTS we won't qualify for a 189. We've been revising and looking at past papers (his older sister is an English teacher and even she has tried to help) but there is just no way he'll score that high. He's great at his job and anyone in his work would agree but written English just isn't his strong point. Were still going to try the test anyway but someone suggested we try to get a 457 instead and maybe apply for a 189 when he has more experience ? I'm not sure of the ins and outs of a 457, but aren't these very hard to get ? Any advice ?

I'm not an expert so don't hold me to this! Lol but I also got very confused with this yesterday. My husband is a refrigeration mechanic, if you look at the SOL it says he needs his skills assessed by TRA. But if you go through as many pages as I did on the TRA website when you click on his occupation it tells you their (whatever the technical term is RTO something or other) is VETASSESS. I don't know how the TRA works exactly but seems they have other assessing authorities do their assessment s for them?? Again, I'm no expert lol based on my research yesterday lol but have a look anyway ..

Wow, its crazy what they expect kids to have. I suppose it's so they keep up with technology , it changes that often by the time my son is in school God knows what he will need. I hope they don't introduce them to primary schools, I worry about kids being on the internet too much lol

IPads? Are there actually schools that expect you to have those? My son will only be 4 (if we go by the time were hoping to). Rent wise we have enough for approx 6 months + and still plenty of time to save, its really the extras were trying to out money away for now. My husband is a refrigeration mechanic so yeah he has licences etc to do, but still plenty of time to put away for it. We just need to calculate roughly how much more saving we need to do , I hate not having a rough timeline of things lol and extra cash because of the low starting wage too. Shopping is a big one too I suppose, we've lived in this house for four years and I still forget we've no cheese grater, only two pots and three glasses! Our house has very little in it, and every time we have extra cash I still forget to buy them !

She was my family dog, sadly she passed away last month and my mum has now took our dog for company so we won't have any pets coming with us

Thanks for all responses, its looking like its mainly all the little things that add up. Yeah we've counted furniture, its our shipping and money to replace what we don't ship lol

Thanks Our accommodation on arrival will be with family so not too worried about that one. We've left ourselves a huge chunk in our 'money to get by' so its just knowing where it all needs to go, always forgetting something !

As we were discussing our savings I thought I'd check to make sure we had considered everything that needs to be paid when migrating. Here's our list - Flights for 4 Visa (+everything that's included with visa) Vetassess Ielts Migration agent Shipping Money for replacing what we don't ship Car (everything that comes with having a car) 6 months rent Money to get by School cost Health insurance Travel insurance Bond/deposit on rental Feel like I'm forgetting something, is there anything we've missed ? I don't want to start the process until I'm sure our savings are up to scratch.. (Although we've had to put a temporary pause on it so a bit more time to save)

Congratualtions, that's great news Good Luck with everything! Our three year plan has now turned into a five year plan with another baby on the way, so it's nice to hear people have waited so long and finally got there as a lot of negative people have told us we'll never do it if we wait that long.

I've been doing a part-time health and social care degree which I didn't think I would have completed by the time we were planning to move, but now we have another baby on the way we've put a pause on moving which means (hopefully) I will have completed my degree by the time we go. Anyway, I started the degree mainly because I found it interesting and I was getting sick of working with horses. I'm just wondering what sort of jobs I would be able to look into when I'm in Australia with my degree. I know I'm at a disadvantage as I will have no experience, but my husband is the main visa applicant so my job isn't the important one it would just be an extra income. So I'm just curious to know what sort of work may be available to me with this degree or even if anyone could suggest further study/qualifications I may be able to get out there that could compliment my degree. Oooo Which Moogoo products would you recommend for clearing up acne? I get some serious breakouts and its my birthday at the end of the month I might spoil myself ! Lol was googling their products there , there's so much I don't know what the different products do :wacko:

I've never used talc anyway coming from a family with skin conditions (that's not to say its hiding somewhere in the ingredients list of other products). I suppose this is why there are so many 'mineral' products now , and you do see a lot of talc free baby powders now, at least I do in Asda. I remember going to buy a face powder called 'banana powder' I heard it was used a lot by make up artists and the lady in the shop must have done her research on talc as she's the one who told me about the link and advised I buy mineral products. But when I looked it up myself I read it was because a lot of feminine hygiene products used to contain talc?

Yes, I've heard this one! I think its anything that includes talc at all that's why you find a lot of talc free products now. But i don't think its as simple as just using talc I heard its if yano, ' use It down there ' lol but if it was a big issue I dont think they would still be selling it for babies ??

Thanks , I've tried clinique before and had no problems, just a tad pricey! Lol we use boots own sensitive skin sun lotion (not that we need to use it often in NI) but I'm hoping sun lotion for sensitive skin should be pretty easy to come by

In our family we all have extremely sensitive skin so every time we so much as change shower gel we all break out in rashes. I'm just wondering what products we might not get in Oz and what alternatives there might be so we can get used to them if they're available here. I have a wee bit of a list lol sanex hypoallergenic shower gel and bubble bath, e45 body lotion, timotei shampoo, and I use no7 cosmetices which I know we definitely can't get . Anyone know good alternatives?

Yes Maxine me and my husband have been researching the different spiders (probably a bit over the top!) So were experts when we see them lol he finds it all quite interesting though I just want to know what not to touch! Lol Oh my, newjez, I can imagine the surprise ! Its not the same as sliding a piece of paper under a glass when it comes to huntsmen I'm sure! The spider poking out of the visor! I don't know how I'd handle that! I remember when my son was only a few months old I heard a buzz in the car and straight away thought 'wasp!' Pulled over to the side of the road, flung all the doors open grabbed my son and made my husband thoroughly check the car before I'd get back in. The thought of our boy getting bit/stung is my main worry, he would think big spiders are great!
