  1. Congrats Linda..... Huge congrats... I can only imagine how you are feeling! Still no bloomin grant here.... Am I the last one?!!! starting to feel a little bit low and I am trying my best to be positive!.... Ok, pulled myself together. A lot of wine being consumed in my house at the moment! Got to be soon for us... Good luck to anyone that is still waiting February gang x
  2. Hi smogzy, Firstly I would seriously recommend getting an agent that knows this and can advise with the most up to date information etc. In order to move permanently as a nurse with a degree your wife could apply as the main applicant on a 189 permanent residency visa. Unfortunately diplomas are no longer recognised for migration, so she would have to provide evidence of her degree and her experience (you can claim extra points for years in profession) to the Australian nursing and midwifery council (ANMAC) for a skills assessment. A positive skills assessment means she may then apply for PR providing you have enough points which will depend on your age and English language ability amongst other things. There's a wealth of knowledge on here where there's always someone or a previous thread that will be able to help!
  3. Congratulations!!! Yiippppeeeeeeeee! Sadly still quiet in my house! :-)
  4. Me too, I'm also a diploma nurse but got my skills assessed before they changed the rules but I'm still awaiting grant after 5 months waiting so far! I too will have to apply to AHPRA hopefully for a referral for bridging course, otherwise it's a change of career for me!
  5. Macca10 and harveyspecter we in this together! I using agent and I know she will be in touch as soon as she gets any info, I'll wait and see what happens with u two and if I'm last I'll ask her to get on the case!! Good luck x
  6. That's good to know I'm not alone! Thanks for your reply and hope you hear soon :-)
  7. Sadly ANMAC have now chaned their rules in line with AHPRA requirements for registration. I really can bet how you are feeling it is such a disappointment. Are you working at the moment? Don't lose hope, though I think time is of the essence! It is possible to fast track a top up to degree level, as you will need this to practise in Oz anyway. Have you included an extra 10 points for superior English level if you can get 8.0s in IELTS? And are you claiming for work experience? Do you have a migration agent that can advise you on exactly what your options are?
  8. Hi guys, anyone from the February gang still waiting?!!! im trying sooooo hard to be patient and calm... But would be nice to know we not alone!! i have such butterflies now it's been nrly 5 months
  9. From my understanding, this reads for the 189 visa any of the above and the scores specified. For your skills assessment however they may specify only OET or equivalent :-)

Oh no! I'm sorry I totally forgot about that, I did a diploma but they have only just changed the rules. Is it an option for you to top up? As you cannot register with AHPRA and practice in Australia without a degree anyway, if you wanted to continue being a nurse x

Without doubt Veronika at sortoutmyvisa.com she is amazing, any recommend her enough. She knows stuff and always gets back to u super quick, she just tells you exactly what u need to get for her/ what u need to do etc am she does pretty much everything else... I haven't filled out one form thankfully! She was recommended to me years ago by wanted down under you know the channel 4 programme ? He has helped lots of nurses and will give you am exact email containing timelines/ options and all costs from the offset. There are others recommended on here too in other threads but I would definately say check Veronika out x

Ps... For ANMAC you need 7.0s in all sections of the advanced IELTS. If you get 8.0s that's fab as you can then claim an extra 10 points for your visa. If not you can resist IELTs general to get the 8.0s needed for those extra points, that's what I did. Hope that makes sense! i think our medicals were £290 each that's was in Plymouth . and Definately revise for IELTS, it's the format of the test really you need to be familiar with as it's pretty intense when you are in there and too expensive not to prepare for! Good luck with everything :-)

Hi, if you go on the ANMAC website there is a reference example you could give to your manager to make her life abit easier. I had a nightmare too as my manager resigned and was not contactable, so I used a previous manager who wrote me a fabulously detailed ref, then from my current job I used a senior staff nurse and passed my skills assessment. They accepted it as a senior nurse that had supervised my practice. So I sent two in the end, but a good migration agent will be able to tell you exactly what is acceptable. It's such a long wait I understand completely you don't want your manager to know your plans just yet! :-)
  18. Waiting!! Crikey this is torture! Good luck everyone :-)
  19. Omg not sure if we got that email as going though agent, first CO requested mess and PCCs, second co requested my old passport and current one and no one knows why... submitted all that last Monday and nada....... Have everything crossed and so excited for everyone, please let ours be a yes this week!
  20. Do you think on the 1st July we will hear?!!! Or from then try might start granting....aaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!
  21. This is really tricky and to be honest I don't think the decision gets easier even nearly two years in to the process! ( we waiting to hear any day now). We have travelled, lived and worked in Australia and even then I do have conversations with myself quite a lot regarding taking my son away from family. We have a three year old and my family adore him. Half our family are in England (mine) and my husbands are all in South Africa and although we miss them a lot we Skype every week and visit once a year for quality time, and we fly my mother in law over too to stay with us. We have always saved and spent any extra money on seeing family...I know it's more expensive flying with two children though so that will be more complicated. Being on the other side of the world is difficult, especially when you are worried about anyone. My mum had a health scare when we were in Australia and I didn't cope with that very well as I have always been the one that helps and organises if there's a family problem. But in my heart I honestly was happier in Australia. I made some great friends that welcomed us into their lives and became extended family. There will always be "debates" on here as to which country is better/ most promising future etc and it's all very subjective, EVERYONE had a different experience and opinion and I just believe you have to follow your gut instinct as all to often that will be right! if it's telling you to stay then stay and make peace with it, the what ifs are natural but not at all helpful! The way I see it is you get one go at life, cheesy but so very true and something we all too aware of... You can spend years planning for your future and things can change so quickly that you wish you had taken life by the balls and just gone for it!! People will argue that this isn't a very responsible attitude, but you can always come back if it doesn't work out, yes it's money wasted and more change for your children but if they are loved and with you then I don't suppose they will care too much! You are lucky in that you both have great career prospects and there will always be work for you with the right outlook and attitude. I have travelled with my husbands job since our son was born and he is a very secure, confident and kind little soul. He loves being with his family but also has had such adventures and experiences that I cannot put a price on. In Australia he camped with kaolas and kangaroos, learnt to fish, swam with dolphins out at sea, bbq'd in the outback, and was outside most days A Lot of the time in the fresh air and he was sooooo so happy, eating fresh fruit and vegetables. I'm not saying at all that children in the uk have less of an outdoor life but in our case only now has the weather started to be such that we hav wanted to get out in it! (Still abit too chilly to get in the sea or camp- we could but not just yet thanks!) and we live in Cornwall which is such a beautiful part of the uk. We have lots of friend a that have emigrated all over oz and in their opinions their children are Definately happier and they don't regret a thing, but again that is just their experience. There are positives and negatives and everyone's again will be different, we are going because I know if we don't we will always be thinking what if... My heart saying go for it and my brain saying we will work it out because we always do... All too often in my job I see people regretting what they didn't do and not often what they did. We have both just landed great jobs here but again we still going for it! Jobs are precious I know but you know what we still going for it!!! No one can make your decision but you but as you asked this is just out way of thinking!.. Goodness I could ramble on so much more but I'll spare you, but I do wish you the best of luck in your decision and know we have all Been there!! X
  22. Aw good luck everyone and please let us know when you hear anything!! We are living in a caravan and have been waiting to hear before making any plans, trying our best to get on with life but the fact is waiting to hear is massive and either way our lives are going to change, I am so excited but also nervous and it's so nice to know you guys are in the same boat! Not long to go now..... 5 days!!! X
  23. I can't even think like that!!! You sound so positive, I don't think I'll believe it at first... Might keep to myself, drag my husband to the pub and order a bottle of champagne... Then get excited/ jump up and down/ plan!!!! It's been sooooo long I can't believe we are nearly there... Are we nearly there aaahhhhhhhhhh!!! Xxxx
  24. That's interesting too I always though you had to change your name on your passport, that's why I did it!
