Do I need to do the ielts first before the vetassess
You only need the IElTS for extra points. You are best to apply for this early because the dates are limited and if you need to resit it this will take longer.
What state are you hoping to apply for?
Where are you from [emoji3]

Hi sorry I'm rubbish at this lol how come your in NZ NOW ? Very exciting ! No never been to NT before bit nervous and excited lol . My biggest worry is the kids as not sure what the schools are lke there x
I was just sick of how long the visa process was and nothing happening so we booked our flights and were in NZ within 10weeks[emoji3]
When we first started the process we were hoping to go to south Australia then hairdressing was taken off the list. So we can only go to NT aswell.
My bf is a cabinet maker and is on the list for most states but he is short a few months experience to qualify and would also mean starting the process all over.
Are Ye planning on going as soon as Ye get the visa or finishing the school year in the uk. I'm sure it is a lot harder with kids to get organised. What ages are they.

Hi shells. Congrats on vetassess. haven't gotten as far as eoi yet. I am currently in New Zealand. Only arrived 3 weeks ago. We are planning on submitting our eoi in the new year, We will also be applying for NT although not too keen on going there but it's a step in!! Have you been to NT before
-
Hi lauren that's great you can apply for that visa. I'm not using an agent so I can't recommend one. I'm sure you are excited to get started.
-
Is this a pubic post?
Yes laura
-
Yeah just a shame they will be in Vic and we won't lol.
i will be getting in touch with some after the weekend and hopefully go from there, there is so many websites that say so many different things I think I could go on forever searching for myself it's took us a while to get this far.
yeah I've read through the full post I think I'm going to have to brush up on my knowledge! I've just completed a barbering course though so I've already refreshed some theory, but thanks I'm sure I will be asking about vetassess soon (hopefully anyway)
Oh hopefully you will get to apply fingers crossed for you

Yeah that's our next step at the minute I've got together a start on my paperwork for skills assessment but going to speak to a migration officer with all my questions, there's a few!
Yes I have a husband but no skills he's a HGV driver and can easily find work in any area of oz so that's no issue to us personally but obviously he can't help towards the visa application
yeah I went travelling for 3 months straight after finishing my apprenticeship then been over twice, 4 weeks at a time as my husbands grandma and grandad live in Victoria.
Good luck with the 187
Ah lovely that's nice to be going over to family.
Let me know how it goes with the agent and if u need help with vetassess just ask.
Myself and Vicki have alot of the questions we were asked during the interview written in this thread [emoji4]

Oh so that's going to be a problem, I've sent off for a statement of national insurance contributions as that vouches for employment but over years the majority is only going to be part time work, how many years experience do you have?
Maybe contact a migration specialist and see if they think you can pursue the visa. I did an apprentice from 2005-2007 and then moved to oz came back and went to college in 2011 and have worked since then but post qualification experience is only 3 years. It is only enough to apply for NT. But I have been offered a regional job in WA so I am hoping to get the 187 visa started asap.
Do you have a partner that is going and are they on the skills list.
Have u been to oz before
-
Hi, brilliant I'll give that a go! The only thing is I've only been working part time (16 hours) due to having 2 young children. Do you know if the experience has to be full time? I did my apprenticeship 2006-2008 then worked Full time as a stylist then moved to the salon where I am at now and working 16 hours a week since, I've been there for 6 years
thanks
From what I have read it asks for full time work. Working a 24hr week.
I was working 3 days per week so just met the requirements.
The only proof of that was my pay slips and I only submitted about 5 or 6.
My boss filled out the forms and wrote that I was full time.

It's ridiculous if he's not accepting your answers if Australian techniques are different. You've been trained here!
Crazy questions....who is this assessor guy?! Lol
Lol i know, it was through vetassess.

hi, sorry to jump on your thread but im currently looking to move to Australia with my family, im also a hairdresser, would you be able to give me an idea on what you did for the skills assessment. my main issue is the financial/payslips. I have been employed as a stylist by my employer for 6 years, but I can only find 3 of my p60s. any help or advice would be GREATLY appreciated by any one who has been through this.
tia
Hiya I rang the tax office and they were able to send me a print out of my previous Employer and that worked for me. I had a few recent payslips that I sent.
It turned out to be a really long process I sent my first documents in January and just received my certificate last week.
How many years post qualification do you have?
-
Ye that's how we are feeling just want to get going. But we are back from oz 6 years now just feels like we will never get going!!
I've just submitted application for nz whv arggg so excited!!
-
Better pack alot of clothes so! I'd be happy just to get work and do trips around the country. Excited now going by what you have said.
-
Oh really I was only sent that form with my positive assessment. I've never been my sister has and preferred it over oz. I've done a lot of research and there seems to be jobs in Auckland, nice apartments, nice area etc.
We have just been so focused on getting to oz that we never even considered nz.
Where would you go back to if u went.
-
God thats so annoying Vicki. I sent my form away 2 weeks ago, so I guess I won't be getting my cert for few months.
We are applying for a whv to nz and hoping to go in October just sick of waiting. Prob won't even have cert by then anyway!!
-
Oh yay Laura that's great news well done I know, as far as I can see none of the states have changed for hairdressers, but by the time we get our certificates you never know it might have changed again! Be prepared for a long wait for it, they are still processing my results ?
How long have you been waiting for cert now Vicki. It really drags everything out.

Thanks girls.
i am a bit confused with the eoi. I first submit my EOI through immi skill select and chose NT. On the application it asked what date I received a positive assessment, work details, ielts results etc. But no prof.
I then thought I had to go to the state page NT and submit a further eoi to them. On this application it asks for proof of cert and prof of funds etc.
But other people on this form are saying u do not have to show evidence. So I don't really know if the eoi on the immi.gov.au page is all I need to do. Have you come across this and what have you done.
Ok just found the answer to my question. I do need to submit the eoi on NT page.

Hi girls so has the new occupation list released today changed plans for anyone.
I was really hoping for SA but hairdressing is not on the list. So at the minute I only qualify for NT but I will need $50,000 in the bank :-(
I'm a bit frustrated as what to do next.
On the plus side i passed vetassess
-
So I did my resit on Thursday it only lasted 15 min.
I was asked the colour wheel and that was it on colour.
I was asked how would I do a chemical straightening service? I just rhymed off what I had studied.
Then I was asked why would you not preform this service on a client?
What size section would you take?
Is it ok to use a ghd on the hair or would you use a different brand?
Can you clip the hair up after this service?
If a client has no definite parting where would you part the hair during this process?
Hope this helps someone.
-
Ah no that's crap actually never even thought of having to wait for cert. Hopefully it arrives soon. Although will you hold out for July 1st and see what changes are made to the state lists.

Any other hairdressers out there applying for vetassess?
