    Hi @laurahair

Thank you for the response and good to hear that you got your PR with no issues. Just another question, did you end up pursuing the online study. I am enrolled with a WA uni but doing my studies online and I am based in Sunshine coast Qld.

I will be eligible to apply for my 887 in August, when I checked with a mara agent, they said online study is not considered a breach, but after reading your post I got curious as to why the college told you its a breach.

I hope this won't be a breach on my side.

I did complete my online studies. Once I moved to the sunshine coast which was considered regional for my 489 visa they accepted my enrollment.

When I first enrolled I had just moved to the Gold coast so the college could see that I was in breech of my postcode regional area for the 489.

You should be all good though if you are living in the Sunshine coast that is considered regional. Good luck with your PR

    Hi Laurahair

Just iqnterested in knowing if you got your PR with no hustles. I am in the same situation now

    Hi @Wadho

I got my pr in June last year after applying the previous September. I got a call from them asking to resubmit my police certificate as I uploaded it in the wrong format, I was approved straight away. No other questions asked. Good luck with yours. We ended up staying in the sunshine coast after getting PR 🙂

    Hi Sony,

I know this is an old thread, I have found it extremely helpful in my preparation. My test is in 2days and I've been going over all my old college notes.

I was wondering if you could help me, do they refer to chemical straightening process or process of performing a relaxer in your questions? This process is slightly different.

I hope you can assist me.

    Thank you so much!

Hey I was asked about chemical straightening! I was asked how I would do the process and then he asked questions about how to check if it was ready. He did give multiple choice answers. This is the section that I failed on. I YouTubed videos of it for my resit and I passed. If you haven't done one I would recommend just youtube. Good luck!!

  4. Hi all. I hope everyone is well! I'm sure there are alot of people in this situation and just wondering what people are doing or advise out there.

I am on a 489 I applied for my 887 visa in September but am living in the sunshine coast. Since I moved here in December I have not had any luck getting work because I am not a PR and I don't see me getting one anytime soon. My boyfriend has a full time job since Feb.

We are nervous if he looses his job what to do.

If we went home to Ireland we will breach our visa conditions assuming we will be gone for longer than 6 weeks so would that mean we wont be aloud back into the country when things settle?

Also they have added another 6 months wait time onto the 887 visa timeline, bringing it to 24 months from application to approval [emoji24]

  5. Thank you for your replies and advise.
I got in touch with a mara migration lawyer and she said it's ok that moved from the NT after the 2 years. But I still need to be in the specific postcode classed as regional until my 887 comes through. So I have signed a new lease in sunshine coast and am leaving gold coast.
She also said because I haven't worked in the gold coast that I should get away with it.
Fingers crossed the visa will all go to plan from here.

  6. Hi I'm just wondering has anyone been on a 489, did the required 2 years and applied for the 887 and then left the nominated state and still got there 887.

I did my 2 years in the NT applied for the 887 and then moved to Queensland. A migration agent had told me when applying for my 489 that I could do this so this was always my plan.

I have only been here for 2 months and have not worked yet, but I did change my address on the immi application.

Yesterday I applied to study online and I got a call from the college saying I am violating my visa conditions and cannot study outside of the NT.

I have rang the NT migration who refered me to department of immigration. I called them twice today with different questions. One person saying I need to live and work in a specific postcode in Qld and another saying once I submitted my 887 immigration won't ask for any info post my 2 year commitment.

Has anyone done the same and what was your outcome. Tia

  7. Hey Laura, Is it relevantly easy to get a job in Darwin? I'm trying to think of back up plans in case the visa i have applied for falls through ...And i know that NT do state sponsorship....when i jumped online to check out jobs there didn't appear to be much ...

    Hey
The salons don’t seem to advertise much on job sites. I have found they look for staff through there Facebook pages, or they have signs up on the window. Everyone is saying Darwin has quietened down a lot recently, house prices have gone down and so has rent. I found it easy to get work but I had to walk into salons and drop my cv in. As for my bf he is a cabinet maker and there is no work in his trade up here but he got a job in warehouse, so it’s all good [emoji4]
  8. Hi guys, so this thread was started in 2015, so is everyone who started the process from the UK back then all happily settled in Oz? We are just at the very beginning but was hoping (everything being successful) that 12 months was a reasonable timeline but I am beginning to doubt that.

    Hi Rae
I haven’t been on this in so long. I have been in Darwin for the past 10 months. Loving every minute and the long process was well worth the wait. Also before I came to Darwin I was dreading having to stay here for 2 years on the 489 but the time is flying here and the sun is always shining. Good luck with the visa process

  9. Hi I’m asking on behalf of my employer. My employer has applied to become a sponsored salon and has a girl who she is wanting to hire though a 457. The girl is currently working elsewhere on a 457 but wants to leave ASAP and come work for us cash in hand until my employer can sponsor her. If the visa does not come through before she reaches the 90 day limit to find a new employer is there a bridging visa or will she be runing her chances of my boss sponsoring her.

    Hope this makes sense. TIA

  10. Hi brills
I was the same as Vicky with the visa, I was going to apply to qld but while waiting for the vetasses cert hairdressing was taken off the list. I was fed up at that stage and went to New Zealand for a year.
I came back last September and put my eoi in for NT in November. I have been offered a 489 visa just last week. I submitted the application and 2 days later was asked for medicals and the other documents. I have my medical booked for may 2nd, that was the nearest appointment.

With regards to making the videos I set up a camera on a tripod and recorded a full haircut, colour, hilites, perm, mans cut and beard trim. I downloaded a movie editor online and muted them and set them on quick speed so they were about 7mins long. I also did a voice over explaining my technique. I also took photos of upstyles and sent them aswell.

  11. Hi it's shells again it tock about a year for us don't give up we have a 190

Moving in 6 weeks time eeeeek scared !! [emoji3]

    Thanks Shells

Good luck with your move, so exciting

    IELTS 16/08/2014 positive Vetassess 26/06/2015 EOI submitted 13/10/2016 190 NT submitted 21/11/2016 70points

  12. I got my result 4 weeks after the technical interview but it took about 4 months after my interview to get my certificate, which you will need when applying for visa. In total it took 7 months from the time I sent in my first documents to getting my certificate.

I did email vetasses a few times asking about the time frame and they emailed back each time!!

    Good luck

  13. Good luck getting accepted on a 190 for NT! They will offer you a 489 instead which means you have to work in the state, rather than have a moral obligation to do so.

I'm kinda expecting to be just offered the 489 but no harm in going for the 190!! At least it will be a stepping stone to where we want to be!! [emoji4]

  14. Well of course you can't get an Irish bank statement in AUD, why on earth would you think that you could. Nobody is going to expect an overseas bank to produce a statement in a currency other than the funds are held in! Just show it in €, they want to see that it is equivalent toa certain amount.

The *visa* requirements by the way do not include any need to show proof of savings, that is merely a state sponsorship requirement.

It states twice on the application to show proof of funds or assets

"provide evidence together with a summary of all financial assets in AUSTRALIAN DOLLARS eg.certified bank statement".

For two people they require $50000 or proof of assets.

  15. Hi

I am about to submit my 190 for NT and I went to my bank here in Ireland for the proof of $50000 funds. I asked my bank to print my statement and show it in Aud as the visa requests all funds to be shown in $, I was told this is not possible and the best I could do is do up the exchange rate myself and show my statement in euro.

What has everyone else done? I don't want my visa to be denied because the bank can't do a statement in dollars!!

    TIA

  16. Hi I have just got NT sponsorship for 190 I'm a hairdresser age 42[emoji4]

Yeah!! That's amazing!! How long did it take from time of eoi. I am submitting mine this week, can't wait.

When are you planning to make the move..

  17. Hi, I've applied for hairdresser for NT. I started in August 2015, and now at the stage where positively hoping for visa grant.

I had had applied for 190 visa sub class but as turned 40 during the visa process I was offered 489 visa subclass with NT state sponsorship.

first of all you need to have 5 years work experience either as self employed or working for someone. You need to get your document assessed along with 4 videos or pictures with detailed information on chemical perming, colouring, barbering with classic hair cut and outline shave. With some fees.

once done with this you'll be given a date for technical assessment which will be Skype interview - you need to clear this assessment done by VETASSESS with some fees.

after clearing this you can apply or EOI, mean while you also need to score for IELTS 6 or above.

after EOI you will be offered state sponsorship for 190 or 489visa subclass. Now you are at the last stage where paying visa fees, medical check ups and police clearance. Inbetween a stage you need to some fund for 190. You don't need to show funds for 489.

489 is a temporary visa for 4 years and after completing two years in regional area can apply for permanent resident. This is all I went through the process. Hope it will be helpful to you.

    Hey Sony

I've read that you didn't need to prove funds for a 489 visa. Did they ask for any financial evidence. I can get a loan from family for the 190 but I would rather not have to, especially not knowing how long I would need to keep the money in my bank. Did it take long for you to hear back from the eoi.

    Thanks

    Laura

  20. I phoned a immigration office and they said i can apply yay. I was looking through the tra and wanted to no about videos of ur evidence do you have to get someone to sign it off or do u just send it

Hi Libby that's great! you just send them in, you don't have to get them signed off. But there is other paperwork where you need to show where your employer (if in a salon) signs to say you are confident in your job. And you need to show your proof of previous employment etc. have you done a chemical straightening before? That was the hardest part for me..
