  1. Nah Ive not done anything with the medical and police checks yet. Never heard of this p80 form either to be honest
  2. Hi mikee.. Sorry what I meant was.. We have applied today. I got an email from my agent saying we have been invited to apply. Then she took the payment and has applied to NSW for sponsorship (190visa) today. The way I took it was.. The application for sponsor ship takes about a week to hear anything back from.. and once we have been accepted for sponsorship, we then apply for the main visa. I thinks that's the way it's going anyway. I don't log on to an IMMI account or anything or fill out anything like a "form 80". My agent just emails me what they need and I fill it out and send it back, or give my bank details for payment at each stage for payment. They are taking care of everything.
  3. Hi guys, 6 week today I lodged my EOI and today we have been invited to apply to NSW for our sponsorship. buzzing today that theres finally a bit of progress. Have been advised this bit may take about a week then we get to apply for the main visa. Unsure how long thats gonna take. hopefully not the 3-4 months some people have stated. Been advised its more like a few weeks!
  4. 3-4 MONTHS... **** that.. I was told about 6 weeks one we've applied.. Jeezo. . I really hope it doesn't take that long man.. For both of us. Each I'm going through an agent.
  5. Hi mikee, thats fantastic mate! Hopefully mine isnt too far behind. How long do you reckon the application will be
  6. Awww tell me about it.. trying to explain to people and go over it all is a nightmare at times haha! We have a family friend out there who with thier kid 8 years ago via an agent and recommended them. So we have an agent from Edinburgh who has been fantastic. They tell us what the need or send the forms etc.. I run about get it all done and email them back.. The past 8 months has been relatively stress free which I wasn't expecting. Not having to get anything signed off or anything I think they do al that for you. Well all going well and visa is granted by end of march then I can properly start applying for jobs. Have done alot of ground work so far an got my name out and got some contacts and expressed interest etc but there is only so far they will entertain you without a visa on a bit of paper if you know what I mean. The planned time is around June which give us time to take a month off work and spend some time with family etc.. if a job was to come up sooner though then it would be a no brainer.. as soon as possible I suppose rules all. What about you. What area are you going to.
  7. Hi mikee. Yeah 3 hours man it was quite intense at times. I think in the end the guy was glad to finish it but we had a wee chat for ten minutes after all the questions just talking about our plans and how we had got here. Yeah I had to do the same with the payslips. As much as possible in the last 3 years etc and all my p60s aswell. Me and my partner also had to get written statements from friends and family that back us as being a couple for the past five years and I also sent away a load of Christmas cards and party invitations addressed to us both, then loads of pictures of us both on holiday over the past 5 years and pictures including family members that wrote statements to tie it all together. It's actually a good thing that they are so in depth so I don't knock it. I live in Glasgow mate what about you?
  8. Hi mate, yeah I had to do a kinda of Skype interview with VETASSESS. Lasted about 3 hours and went through everything I done in my apprenticeship. Wasn't to bad. What about you? Apart from that just had to send all my certificates and proof of training away including work references and statements and all that
  9. Hi mate. Though I would take a quick look to see if anyone was in the same boat as me lol. My EOI was submitted on 15/12/15 also. I am a mechanic by trade and my last position was a Nissan Master Technician which a done for a couple of years. I initially wanted the 189 however I'm going for the 190 visa as I needed the extra 5 points of state sponsorship as I don't have the 5 year post apprenticeship experience in that trade. I had a minor career change and now work with heavy diesel engines and generators so hopefully that expands my jobs prospects a bit. That was the plan anyway. I have been advised around a 6 week wait roughly to be invited to apply if I am at all. I have my girlfriend on my visa aswell so hopefully all goes very smoothly. Has been absolutely stress free and excellent so far. Started the process in May. I have no idea how long it takes to be granted if were invited to apply. Hopefully not ling because the excitement is getting unbearable haha Gavin
  10. Hi, Sorry to hear about your mother in law. Your message is actually quite refreshing to read, its fantastic youve made the move and are settling in and have found a job so so soon, but doing while while having personal issues aswell is stuff that many people including ourselves are no doubt going to have to face as part of the process of chasing a new life elsewhere, not in direct contact of close family and parents. I wish no one would have to go through that but I personnaly am quite a realistic straight to the point kind of person and i know that one day we may have the same issues to face, and it will no doubt bring up questions like, is this the right thing to do, move away etc. I think it is because it will happen no matter where you are in life or what your doing. Its refreshing to see how youve went and are making the best of it and havnet lost sight of whats important to you. Wish you all the best for the future!
  11. In reply to comment that started the thread, good to hear the motor trade is doing well, Im am half way through an application for a skilled independent visa, using my previous experience in the motor trade as a master technician, hopefully there will be some good job prospects in the near future in the Perth area! i have experience in power generation and heavy diesel aswell so hopefully thats another string to my bow!
  12. Hi Guys, Not posted here for a very long time but I think I was the first after @Pinkestlady started the thread. Just read through it all there and its awsome to read the up and downs through the whole process and end result being visas granted. Gives us a lot of hope. Our Story for anyone thats interested lol: I started mine in March or early April I think after a 2 week holiday in Perth and decided to go down the 189 Skilled Independent Route via our migration agent who have been excellent. Recently got word back the first part of the skills assessment has been accepted and just waiting for the skills interview now. I have been doing some of the IELTS training. Not done the medical or police check yet. Surprised to see how many people done these things so early on. We have basically been doing what is required when weve been asked by our agent and let them deal with it until the next instruction has came, its been a fairly stress free process so far thankfully and have the expectation that it should be granted within 9-12 months. Now its just looking at potential jobs and flats etc as weve pretty much narrowed down where we want to live to 2 or 3 areas. Exciting stuff. Looking forward to any replies or questions from you guys Hope everything works out the ways you want
