  1. Thanks. I can't remember if we had to get a bus or not but I do remember having to put a bit of a jog on!! Thats great that the gates are in the same terminal now, & I suppose they'll prob be on the look out for rogue passengers who are connecting.
  2. We have had our visa granted & have just booked flights to activate visa/start sussing areas out etc before moving out. Our flights are Glasgow-Dubai-Perth with 2 hours 30 stop-over 1 way & 1 hour 40 on our return, flying Emirates. Initially I thought this would be fine however it's been 5 years since I was last in Dubai & they we're extending whilst I was there. I will also be travelling with a 1 year old. I'm now panicking that we won't have enough time to get between gates/through security never mind managing to stop & change &/or feed my son. Has as anyone else done this flight & was the stop-over time enough? Plus I'd love to hear your experiences on travelling long-haul with a baby, I'm getting quite nervous. He will do his own thing, it can't be helped, but I'm terrified of being THAT parent with THAT child that cries all the way lol
  3. Our medicals were the last thing we were asked to submit. This was done on 16th March & visa granted on 22nd March, I expected a much longer wait. Fingers you hear back soon
  4. We had ours done in Edinburgh. Admin staff, nurses & Dr all fab! Both my partner & myself had to give 2nd urine samples due to small traces of protein, think we must've been bit dehydrated, & those were fine. Glad they give the option of 2nd test, I'm guessing that must be quite a common result. All other tests were the same as what you described except no stripping (phew, as didn't exactly have glam undies on) & instead of rubber hammer she just done resistance tests (push/pull limbs). My 5 month old just had a general check over, no bloods or x-rays. The Dr even very kindly changed his nappy!! They wrote to us within the week telling us tests had been signed off & submitted. Overall we were there for 2 hours. It is a lot of money, especially for a baby to have essentially the same checks his Health Visitor does, but hey ho that's it all done. Defo nowhere near as scary as I thought it'd be & as I said the whole team there were lovely which makes it all so much easier.
  5. I'm just looking for a rough guide as to how long it takes for a CO to be allocated, for a Contributory Parent Visa 143, if anyone has any idea? My dad submitted his application approx 9 months ago & was advised that at that time it was taking roughly 12 months for a CO. I received notification that my visa has been granted yesterday & it got me thinking about his application again.
  6. Just wondering if anyone has been in same situ, & if you have any tips or advice from your experience, as I'm starting to get a wee bity stressed that we'll run out of time! We have literally just appointed a migration agent to start the process of applying for our visa. We'll be aiming for skilled independant 189, agent agrees with this. My partner will be 40 in Jan 2016 so we ideally need to have visa app lodged by then. We have just discovered that I am pregnant & that all going well we will have our 1st child in Oct. Did you hold off on making arrangements until after the birth or did you still go ahead to a point then just wait to have medicals & get babies passport????
  7. Thanks so much for your replies. It's the contributory visa he'd be applying for, although very expensive, we knew the waiting times would be considerably shorter! Phew, that's 1 less thing this pregnant lady needs to worry about!! He's in WA just now visiting my brother but he really will need to get a wriggle on once he gets back. Thanks again
  8. I was at an Expo a couple of weeks ago & 1 of the agents there said that the contributory parent visa would be closing again, after just re-opening a few months ago. I have searched online but can't find anything that suggests this. Does anyone know if this is true? My brother is a permanent resident & has lived in Australia for several years. I am just starting the process of applying for skilled permanent visa & we had hoped that my dad, who's 54, would also start applying later on this year. I'm now totally stressed out that he may not be able to join us. His 2 children & grandchildren would be in Australia, & if the agent was right & this visa is closing, I am going to have to make a massive emotional decision that I really don't want to :unsure:
  9. Are there any Vetassess test centres in Scotland?
