  1. Early years. Thank you for the responses. I will spend some time updating my collateral. Also planning to follow up with schools I've contacted in the past in preparation for term 1.
  2. Any advice on this? When I reviewed the standards it felt most are very generic - ie if you've worked as a teacher you've done these things. Four pages seems overkill instead of rating against each focus area.
  3. I've found it difficult cold calling public schools. Each have a different sign up process and then rarely get a call. Maybe time of year matters? Some use apps to list casual jobs but these jobs literally get snapped up in seconds. Certainly once you're in a school it makes a big difference. Provides a good opportunity to network. What's your recommended method when submitting a resume? How do you follow up?
  4. Wishing to hear from others in WA on how you've secured regular relief work or permanent roles? Are you working in public or private? Is the WA Gov job portal worth applying through or is this more for skewed towards local or known candidates? I've just been doing ad hoc relief jobs but looking for something more consistent.
  5. They have said they only issue emergency appointments for exceptional circumstances. Imminent travel was not deemed exceptional.
  6. I'm trying the passport route but no appointments available at this stage. I have read conflicting guidance "should" and "must" is used interchangeably.
  7. This is my concern. Visa application states nothing about Australian citizens not applying. And I cannot find any clear evidence stating I would be denied entry. I may face a delay but not denied entry. Further I have only heard of issues where no visa is granted.
  8. Are you saying that a UK passport and Australian Citizenship doc is sufficient for entry?
  9. Requirements have been satisfied as per the application - nowhere does it state Australian citizens cannot apply.
  10. I fly to Australia soon for a short holiday and hold a UK Passport (with Australian Tourist Visa). I also hold Australian citizenship but no Australian passport. While the travel guidance says dual nationals “trying to enter Australia as an Australian citizen” ... “should” enter and exit Australia on an Australian passport. It is not totally clear if entering/exiting on a non-Australian passport is acceptable. All other evidence I have read is either ambiguous or vague. From the visa website it makes no objections to Australians applying for tourist visas on non-Australian visas. I have heard from numerous UK/Australian passport holders entering Australia on UK passports with visas.
  11. Thanks Dorset. Sounds like we may need to do some more digging about the WA process. I know TRBWA is mandatory (similar to NSW Board of Studies). Still uncertain about AITSL.
  12. Bump - Can anyone help with the below? Or suggest who to contact?
  13. (First post. If not the right place, I can repost elsewhere!) My partner has applied for a partner visa with the intention of moving to Perth to live and work. She has almost 8 years work experience in teaching (3 years as a qualified teacher). She has a PGCE and has studied for circa 5 years (although 4 years at university level). All qualification attained in the UK. NVQ3 Children's Care > Foundation Degree Early Years > BA Education Early Years > PGCE > MA Education We essentially wanted to know what things we should do to register ahead of arriving in Australia. From what I can gather: 1) Register with Teacher Registration Board of WA (TRB WA) (registration takes approx 12 weeks). What level of registration are we eligible for - Full Registration / Provisional Registration / Non-Practising Registration / Limited Registration? 2) Register with Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) Is this required? Or is only the TRB required? When should this be applied for? 3) Register for jobs via the various online job sites (and cross fingers!). Apologies if these have been answered already. Still reading through the forum. [h=3][/h]
