  1. Hi

Approx costs for us (in AUD) for a family of 4 moving from UK

15k for visa (using a migration agent)

    7k flights

    6k shipping our stuff

    5k Deposit/kitting out new house

    15k car

Not cheap or easy but well worth it for us.

    Good luck!!!

  2. I am looking at applying for 189 visa, i am a qualified social worker and would be moving with husband and children. Are the working visas only up to 31 years, just wondering if cheaper option for visas?

All PR visas are expensive Im afraid....

  3. A slight variation on this.....

If you're old enough to cash in your super in Australia as a lump sum and then subsequently retire to the UK, would you still pay tax on the lump sum in the UK? Would this be an asset or income?

All very confusing......head beginning to hurt

  4. Thanks for your reponse folks

One thing I forgot to mention was the kid has minimal english at this stage. I was wondering if anyone had brought over kids in similar circumstances and what were their experiences? Id imagine it may be a struggle for him for a few months

  5. Hi

I have a relative moving to the UK with their son who is 4 in April. My understanding is that the child should start school in September, however my relative has been told by several schools that he will not be able to start in September as they didnt register him by the end of January? Odd. Is there any reasoning behind this or does it sound like a fob off??

    Many thanks in advance

  6. Okay so just preparing for all eventualities…

Partner of 11 years is listed on my EOI. Having received an invitation to submit visa application, my partner is getting cold feet.. When entering Australia with subclass 190, does everyone have to be present who is listed on there, or could I enter on my own if we spilt up or will my visa be void?

Once granted you will both have your own visas independent of each other so you could come on your own with no issues

  7. You have the visa now so keeping them up to date on your job situation is not needed, your visa was not granted due to your future employment.

As to address I have just sold my house and have no intention to inform DIBP, I am not expecting anything in the post from them.

Exactly. Your visa is granted and thats it finished. You dont need to do anything else except enjoy planning for the next stage of your new life.

  8. I stopped paying into mine, 6 months ago and yes it is depleting due to fees..

Doubt anything will be left by the time I hit 55

But this wouldnt change by moving your pension here. You still pay fees here. Cant you move your pension to one with lower fees?

Im in a similar position. I have some of my pension in the UK and some in OZ so Im at the mercy of both exchange rates and the stock exchange. Doesn't worry me toouch to be honest

  9. As others have you will get more for your money using a currency broker than using the bank. Moneycorp is one but there are others so shop around for the best deal. I personally have used Moneycorp and HiFx both of which have been great
