6 weeks today!! Waiting anxiously
I've been closely watching any updates from you, as I estimate you and I to be closely together (I lodged in July, but only provided all docs on 13th Aug).
I can't take much more of these early morning wakeups, need a full nights' sleep!
-
Congrats!
03:30 here, and wide awake checking my phone to no avail
-
I bit the bullet and bought the Gold Package with the 2 marked tests. I just finished the first one and I got an overall mark of 87. I looked at the Border.gov.au website and it says you have to have 79 in 4 categories.
I got
Listening 84
Reading 88
Speaking 90
Writing 83
I didn't think I needed to get the tests, but I had to agree with supercow. It's worth the extra $ for peace of mind knowing what I'll be up against.
Good work mate, you'll ace the test. The other peace of mind factor, is that nothing will come as a surprise to you during the test, potentially spinning you in circles while the time counts down.
Let us know how you get on with the main test.
-
Ahhh I misunderstood your first post... I assumed he was the main applicant.
Yes, 4.5 average is accepted
Apologies for the misunderstanding

You only need a police check for Canada, if you lived there in the last 10 years.
Front loading, just means you supply all these required documentation, before they're asked for. So when the C/O picks up your application, he/she doesn;t need to put it down ... saving time
Exactly how you do it, I don't know as my agent did it for me.
-
My agent did these things for me, so I might be slightly inaccurate in what you can and can't do before being invited. I know that you need a HAP number generated, in order to get your health checks done. I believe this might only be possible once you've been invited, but I could be wrong. The police clearance is valid for a period of months (I believe this is 12 months) , and you can do it at any time.
If you've not filled in form80, do so now. It's a pain in the arse, but it's worth just getting it over and done with.
-
It's cutting it a bit close @hjd . The application itself will take a few months to be granted. Have you done all the medicals/police clearance/form80 in the meanwhile so you can front load the lot, in order to save time?
-
Are you 33 years old, or have been married for 33 years?
Have you checked your occupation is on the skilled occupation list?
What is a credit immigration agent?
Have you checked how many points you score?
-
These posts amaze me, someone joins the forum and makes a single post and tells us absolutely nothing and then seemingly disappears.
It really shouldn't though, happens often enough
-
@Karenz , were you invited to apply?
Your husband does not meet the requirements for the 189 or any other general skilled visa, how did you get to the point of submitting your application?
He needs to score at a competent level ( 6 for IELTS) in each module (the average score is irrelevant), which is you can read more on here:

Morning guys!
We we are STILL waiting for our grant! Lodged the 24th June, CO asked for our police checks, which we uploaded nearly 3 weeks ago (3 weeks on Weds 30th). Our emigration agent said it can take up to 3 weeks, so I'm hoping it doesn't drag over!
we booked our flights and officially fly on the 8th November, so exciting, scary, crazy, etc!! Booked 3 weeks of short term accommodation right near the Botanical Gardens in Melbourne.
Our house currently has quite a few boxes in it, waiting to be packed up!
How is everyone else getting on?
X
Jeez, thought I was waiting long. Have you given the DIBP a call?
-
Want to migrate.I need advise
Start swimming.
-
-
Finally had contact from DIBP yesterday (our application went in on 9th July).
Just need to complete police checks and medicals now, so fingers crossed!
My application went in 16th July --> Additional info requested on the 6th Aug --> Supplied medicals and clearance on the 13th August --> Still waiting 6 weeks later
Hopefully yours will be quicker.

Gut-wrenching @queenbee , so sorry to hear that
-
Finally after 3 attempts at IELTS general and 2 for PTE I have got the necessary score for 20 points. If it was not for this thread, I would not have even thought to give PTE an attempt. So thank you.
ps I would have passed PTE first time, but did not realise the scoring scheme and went over the word count on the written sections.
That's great to hear!
I hoped that it could at least help one other person...as I was sure I can't be the only one feeling like I'm stuck!
Guess it's EOI for you next then, good luck with the rest of the process.
-
Sorry to hear about all the hopes being squashed in here. Out of interest, can't you just put in an EOI for the 189 or 190 visas instead?
-
Great news @Rara82!

Grats Chatterbox!

So good your agent called and chasing my agent just gets annoyed I think when I ask anything who is your agent?
A chap called "Stephen Dickson", http://www.migrateaus.com.au/
Dude's got the patience of a saint dealing with me. The first time I contacted him, was October 2010! With all the hundreds of emails etc from me, he's not once taken longer than a day to response or even charged me any more than his standard fees, which really isn't a lot.
-
So, got an email from my agent this morning (04:20)
....
........
Still no news
He just dropped me an email to say he's not had any personal responses to the emails he's been sending chasing them, so he's called them up to ask what the deal is with the delay.
I know that it means nothing, but I can't help panic that it may be because there's a problem with the visa and I'm being rejected.
-
With a whole bunch of the August llodge lot getting their visas, it makes it even worse.
Ah well, guess I'll wake up tomorrow morning at 04:00, 05:00 and 06:00 again with this weird internal alarm clock thats been implanted ever since I've submitted!
-
Move it to Australia
-
Woohoo we've got our direct grants this morning. Can't believe it, double celebration in our house as its my daughters Birthday too! All the hard work has finally paid off :arghh:
Holy wow, that's some double awesomeness for a Tuesday!!
Six months here and this is my thoughts!

You're born elsewhere to the country you're living in, particularly within the first couple of years or so (shes not even been there a year) ... then you're foreign. It's easy as that.
I can understand the point of view that you might be "more" foreign, if you don't share common ancestry / speak the same language / same beliefs... but that's just nit picking for the sake of it.
I didn't mean this to divert into some existential conversation about xenophobia and/or the European crisis ... just found her comment ironic.
....kinda like Polish people in the UK sharing "Britain first" posts on Facebook (which I see all too often) lol
