  1. Your turn soon Phil.

    Good luck with it

    Steve

    Hi Steve,

    Yep.......nearly there.

We also accepted an offer on the house on Thursday, not counting our chickens yet but looking at April 26th for exchange of contracts. Our dogs "Poppy and Aussie" can fly out of the UK from May 5th (earliest date because of Rabies shots). So if all goes to plan we'll be in Perth by middle of May.

After years of planning, I can't believe in 7 weeks it will actually happen. Weird !!!

I have found the logistics of our move to be the most challenging. Bringing together a date for the house, the dogs, the visa, a removal company. I know it will all be worth it very soon. :ssign19:

    Cheers

  2. Hi congratulations Maisie, and hello to everyone else.

I've recently joined, but been following you all since we lodged our 143 Application 03/05/15 still a long wait for us.

    Hi Lorraine,

    Welcome to "the madhouse" :ssign7:

I'm certain that we all started out sound of mind, as far as I can remember.

You'll get a lot of comfort sharing your frustrations and tribulations with others who are venturing through the same process and also lots of useful and helpful insight. It really is great know you can chat with people who understand what you are doing. Sit back and enjoy the ride for now because the frustration rises closer to your date of exit from the waiting room. As I'm sure all early 2014'ers will testify.

    Cheers

    Phil

  3. Broooooom brooooom @HARLEYDPHIL you are fired up and ready to go behind @Harvi13

    Hi Kim,

    :ssign7:

I have been fired up with expectation since early Feb, it's no good for the blood pressure

There is no doubt that the pace has slowed, I wonder if the large volume of applications in March has just meant that all the COs have been busy completing those cases and just unable to open new ones ? rather than an issue with numbers ?

Everyday brings us all a little closer to our dream.

    Phil

  4. Woohoo!  we have a case officer, I'm so excited  daughter is going to centrelink tomorrow to hand in he AOS paperwork then hopefully we should be good to go.

    Maisie

    Hi Maisie,

Fantastic news for you !!!! and all of us behind you in the waiting room. Hope all runs like clockwork and you attain a speedy exit through the door.

    All eyes now on @Harvi13

    Phil

  5. No. I was so sure they would start moving ahead after non movement for so long. They will now break their service quality times which is quoted as 18 to 24 months. Apparently they are penalised if have 5% applicants over that. From now on that means every applicant will be over unless they pull their finger out Kim

    Hi Kim,

Does that mean we'll all get our visas at a reduced rate ? .......not.......

    :biglaugh::biglaugh:

    Phil

  6. Well immi never fails to surprise - my husband and I were fired up by @AlanSteel and we too sent email to immi saying as so close could we not have our HAP NO. We had response within 1/2 hour saying ..............YES you can as so close and gave us numbers and we have now booked for next Monday. Nothing ventured nothing gained Kim

    Hi Kim,

    Now that's what I call "Pro-Active"

    Congratulations.

I know it feels great to at least get Meds out of way.

Just shows "it's all in the wording" as @AlanSteel has now used your technique and also had a successful response.

Well done for showing the way

    Cheers

    Phil

  7. Immi now showing 4 April :daydreaming:

    Hi All,

I'm going stir crazy in the waiting room.

    Seriously.........IMMI, 3 days in 3 weeks ???

There was a hope 3 weeks ago that we would have a CO before our 30th Wedding Anniversary on the 15th

Guess I need to rethink a prezzy Lol:laugh:

Maybe we'll get another update tomorrow saying they have moved along to actually picking a 4th April application up from under their coffee cup.

  8. We are using Pickfords around 5200 for a 40ft container that will include our car Furniture will get loaded into vans from home then into container at the depot Car goes through to the depot a few days later so that we have it to the death Were in the north east of England going to Adelaide Furniture wise we put a value of about £5000 as our stuffs not new but we fell cost of a full container is worth it as we get the car and everything else tucked in

Thier insurance is excess plus covers for some storage either side of the pond if needed

    Hi,

Do you know much of the 40' are you using ? I don't think £5.2k will be for a full container, as they are loading at the depot they will be using what's left to ship other goods. As per our 4th quote.

    Cheers

    Phil

  9. Hi All,

I have now got all 4 of my quotes in for moving to Oz, this is based on a 40" container including the crating and shipping of my Harley

(customs fees are on top of these quotes)

It is entirely up to the individual how much value you put on all your Worldly goods and the insurance is calculated at a % of the total value. All who quoted us have said that there is a small amount of negotiation about this fee.

The other quite amazing thing is that they are all very similar in the total volume and have said we are using about 3/4 of the container.

Dorree Bonner £6700 +4% Ins (Sole use container) 8-10 weeks

Anglo Pacific £6287 +3% Ins (Sole Use Container) 8-10 weeks

PSS £6227 (Started at £6377) +3% Ins (Sole Use Container) 8-10 weeks

Pickfords £5544 (Started at £5974) +3% Ins (Shared Container) 8-12 weeks

They have all stated that the container will be filled at our house and a bulkhead place inside to stop our good moving. The Pickfords container will be taken back to their yard and the remaining space used before shipping.

    Food for thought ??

Hope this info is useful to anyone who hasn't yet got that far with there planning and research.

    Cheers

    Phil

  10. Brilliant news Linda it's nice to know that they do exist, it will be interesting to see the time frame from contact to completion. I can hear all those who lodged in April/May feet shuffling from here.

    Joe

    Hi Joe,

Don't know about shuffling but I think I feel an "Irish Jig" coming on.:ssign19:

It is great to hear that "one more of us" will be making the progression.

    Phil

  11. Hello everybody

yippee the lesser spotted case officer has contacted me by phone and email today

so now I have to send them scanned copies of police certs and form 80 and bizarrely a copy of AOS confirmation from Centrelink who say immi already have it but who am I to argue. Will keep you posted

    FANTASTIC news Linda

    :jiggy::jiggy::jiggy:

I'm delighted for you......and the rest of US

    Phil

  12. Hi Amanda

I seem to recall that there was a price increase in March 2014; and even more worrying rumour had it that there was going to be another one in June 2014, this never happened but I reckon we're in for another backlog in June/July 2014 applications as a result of that rumour.

Was wondering if you had any joy finding out about a GBP account in Aus?

    Cheers

    Steve

    Hi Steve,

Yep, checking back through emails from our Agent

"On 22 March 2014 the VAC increases intended for 1 September 2013 took effect"

There must have been a lot of late applications to get through, VERY VERY disappointing not to see any progress after the positives of a speedy March14.

I agree with @Skeelsy regarding the disappearing/appearing line of "On or After this date"

We've got so close, lets not lose it now :biglaugh:

    Cheers

    Phil

  13. I'm checking in all the time to see if Dolphin1962 has got the big yes yet!!

Also wondering if we will be in the running this week or will we have to wait another week!!! Stress, stress, stress LOL

    maisie

    Hi Maisie,

Hopefully Immi aren't having a week with their feet up

    Fingers crossed for you also.

    Cheers

    Phil

  14. oh my goodness now I am really scared/panicking

hVe done my form 80 but don't know how to scan them back as a single pdf as there are 18 pages each can anyone tell me how to do it!!

Off on holiday for a week in morning so want it all ready to go if the email comes

    Linda

    Hi Linda,

I know that your on hols but I'm hoping you've had the email by now.

Fingers and everything crossed for you.

    Cheers

    Phil

  15. Hi Steve,

I will let you know how I get on with the enquiry. It's rather to sit with GBP in the account and wait until a better rate is available than to transfer immediately (and we would use a forex company to transfer at better rates than direct bank transfer which is always quite low compared).

    All the best

    Amanda

    Hi Amanda,

    Yes its a great Idea.

We have opened a Commbank Foreign Currency account as well as our Aussie account and the IMPORTANT thing as you said is to make sure your use a currency broker to convert it at the right time into AUD. At the current rate of 1.94 at the time of posting Commbank are only giving 1.8635 as opposed to TorFX at 1.925

It all adds up !! We "forward bought" a chunk of our money in Nov at a rate of 2.145 (for a 5% down payment). We did this in order to split our Risk. Wish we'd now have bought more .

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Brexit !!!!!!!!!

    Linda

    Hi Linda,

I think that your application must be sat on the top of a pile on the desk of one of our "lesser spotted friends". So close but not quite there before the weekend

Good luck for early next week.

    Cheers

    Phil

  17. Thanks for the congrats Steve! Your house sale must seem like a long distant memory now - I'm not hugely excited at the prospect of all there is to do, but it's better now than last minute for sure! Good to know that you're considering doing the police checks early too, it's nice not to feel alone in these types of decisions :-) Hopefully someone has done them before being asked so we can get advice as to whether that all worked out okay.

    Amanda

    Hi Amanda,

I was requested by our agent to do Police Checks when we we're requested for Meds but there is no referral letter for this to be done. Go onto the ACRO site and get them out of the way, that's' one less thing to stress about and I suppose it will feel pro-active. The only criteria is that you will have 12months from the date of your Police check (been earlier than meds) to enter Oz but I'm presuming you'll be doing that anyway.

It is getting exciting with lots of anticipated forth coming good news for applicants on the forum, bringing you closer to the front of the queue.

    Cheers

    Phil

  18. Hi Lisa Lou, I am thinking of doing the same, moving over in November! And am currently trying to contact the police, to ensure I can request these checks without being in the country, not sure if you have to present yourself at a station? Anyone help with this info?

    Hi Bev50Bradley,

Our son applied for a Police Check while in Australia no problem. It's simple form that just needs an added qualification from someone who is on the approved list of careers. You don't have to present at a station and it can be posted to Oz for an extra fee.

    Cheers

    Phil

  19. We are currently assessing for finalization applications lodged up to 24 March 2014.

Please note that in March 2014 we received 20% more applications than in any of the previous 9 months so the dates may be slower to change.

    Another little jump forward.....

    Hi Joe,

??? So confused but very happy. We were stuck in mid Feb for an age and now we're racing through March.

:chatterbox: Come on Immi :chatterbox: come on. Keep up the chant.

    Happy Phil
