  1. Best of luck mate - see you there!!

Are Emirates charging for the chauffeur?

    Hi Steve,

    Just a little :biglaugh:

We've done what I think GeordieJoe and Steely have done. Booked a business leg out with a return in 6 months (that you don't take but then don't get your air miles for either leg) Way cheaper than a one-way ticket, through business-flights.co.uk. It's an indulgent treat that we feel we have earned.

Today they are loading our container, woke up this morning to our last sunrise at our home for 25 years, Sadness at leaving our home but over the moon to be eventually beginning our journey to the next chapter of our lives.

    Bring it on.

    :ssign19:

    See you in PERTH

    Cheers

    Phil

  2. Hi All,

So we have had the "Little Elves" in wrapping and packing the last 2 days. It's a bit weird seeing all your worldly possessions like this. Doree Bonner have been so professional and although initially were our dearest quote they not only price matched but also reduced insurance rate to 1.5% and dropped their ridiculous add on administration charge.

Update ......our 2 dogs (Poppy and Aussie) have beaten us to Australia and are in Melbourne Quarantine already barking in an Aussie twang

Monday brings the container.......Tuesday brings completion on house......Wednesday brings feet up and a brew.........Thursday brings the Emirates Chauffeur and the beginning of our new life ........

After 2 and a half years in the planning it is actually about to happen. I know all those waiting their turn are frustrated but "The Wait" is truly worth it. Hang in there.

    Cheers

  3. It doesn't get any better when you're over here Alan, we were looking at rentals left messages for 5 different agents to arrange viewings and didn't receive a single reply. We then joined the viewing circus when the property is open for viewing for 15 mins and you can have anywhere from 2 to 20 people viewing the house. Thankfully we have now found somewhere.

(Let me know if I can help with anything from this end)

    Joe

    Hi Joe,

You can get the beers in :biglaugh:

Glad your sorted with house, which area ? still around Ellington ?

    Cheers

  4. Hi all

Arrived today and now sat here in our hotel room in Wellington, NZ. My phone has just beeped and our Agents have emailed me to say we have been granted our 143 . So with an enormous Wooooohoooo!!!! Maisie has left the waiting room.

Good luck to all those still keeping the seats warm, hopefully you'll all get the email you've been waiting so long for really soon.

    maisie

    Hi Maisie,

    Off you go.

    Congratulations !!!!!!!!!!!!

    What a lovely feeling.

    Phil

  5. Hi

Good luck I hope you get a positive reply.

I reckon they'll say that due to unprecedented applications during May/June 2014 that progress will be slow for a while - I really hope that I'm wrong.

We're fed up waiting so have booked flights for 19 July in the hope that our timing and everything else works out.

    All the best

    Steve

    Hi Steve,

Hope Immi pull their finger out for all of you behind me in the waiting room.

It is worth the wait and I'm hoping for your sanity that it's a positive update this week.

I'll reserve a table next to the bar in Little Creatures  for the 21st July :biglaugh:

We've just exchanged contracts on our house today with a 10% deposit (Big sigh of relief). Now we have a comfort blanket. Pheww!

    Leaving Do May 1st

Dogs flying out on 12th May

    Container 16th (packing 11th 12th 13th)

    Completion l8th

    Fly out Emirates 19th

Job Done........sounds easy when you write it down but it's absolutely manic.

I bet there is a bunch of you who would swop places......."Hang in there it will happen"

    Good Luck to all.

    Cheers

    Phil

  6. Thanks for replying Alan, but no, it's not citizenship that I'm talking about. It's the issue of when I would be classed as "resident" in Australia as a pose to the uk. From past experience of moving to Fance then back to the uk I know that this is very important for tax liability, house and car insurance, medical entitlements etc etc

    Hi Angela,

On grant of your 143 and activation when you enter Australia you are a Permanent Resident with full Medicare.

    Cheers

    Phil

  7. Hi all

    Two questions on the 143.

I spoke to Australia House in London on Friday and during the conversation I mentioned that if we were in Australia on an e651 visa then we have to leave the country and go offshore for the 143 to be granted - the staff member said no we don't; has anyone had experience of this and confirm who's correct?

Also, if we are in Australia and do have to leave to activate the visa, do we have to do it together of can we do so separately? (it's all down to dog care issues with our family)

These things are a worry to us and feeling very stressed and feel like giving it all up today.

    Cheers

    Steve

    Hi @Steve2

Take it from someone who has run the course "it will, eventually....... all magically fall into place"

The long long long wait will soon be over as more and more of my fellow "2014ers" open the door and leave the waiting room.

Steve the reality of that cold beer in Little Creatures is getting closer and closer, hang in there, your time is approaching.

    Cheers Cobber

  8. Hi Maisie

so pleased to hear that they have asked for the money for the AOS. I am watching your progress very carefully as I think all applicants from June 14 onwards are in for a similar process. When you finally get your AOS and IMMI have received confirmation, would you mind posting how long the whole process took?

we move out of our house in 9 weeks and haven't Been asked for anything yet by IMMI so feeling very anxious. Going to do the police report and get that out of the way.

    Julie

    Hi Julie,

I agree, the process is not going to be quick without the pre-AOS request that we had.

If I was you I'd think about getting Form 80 done, if you haven't already.

In our case the form was completed with the initial application and we weren't asked to update.

I hope you manage to bring everything together in order to hit your timescale.

    If Immi only knew the stress involved. They say moving home can be one of the most stressful things you can do, add to that;

    Worries about medicals.

    Shipping concerns.

Timing everything to collide perfectly (as if by magic. NOT !)

    Waving off, relatives and friends.

Emigrating to a whole new country to start a new life at our tender years.

Not to mention parting with $$$$$$

Think we could move mountains :ssign19:

Wow !! we all really do love our Australian family.

    Good luck with it Julie

    Cheers

    Phil

  9. Hi all

Well guess what, we finally have the letter from centrelink requesting payment of the bond woohoo! Now can anyone help me out here please. My daughter is going to the bank in her break tomorrow but nowhere on the letter does it say who the payment is made payable to!? Is it immigration, centrelink or herself? I'm trying to save her some time as he doesn't have long. Can anyone help please.

    Thanx

    Maisie

    Hi Maisie,

    Great news

    Keep marching on.

Will have to speak to our Tom but think he just did an electronic transfer whilst in branch, because he is also with Commbank.

    Phil

  10. Hi Alan, Are you required to take in a paper copy of your records when you attend your medicals appointment? My parents have various documents from specialists etc, but will they also need to get the paper records from their GP, or is the template for when you emigrate and want to bring across your medical history? Thanks for the template - it will be very useful!!

    Thanks :cute:

    Hi Moomin 13,

You are not required to take your records with you for the medical. Alan is doing this to take them to Australia with him.

    Cheers

    Phil

  11. Hi, I'm hoping to get the request to pay the bond money tomorrow, please keep everything crossed for me  we're using agents and they've been brilliant and I know they're on top of it all 

    Maisie

    Maisie

Come on Centrelink/Immi give Maisie the news she needs.

    :arghh:

    Phil

  12. I was wondering the same thing - it's something I could get done, a little job off the list, maybe something to reduce the wait by a day or two  I know I have ages to wait but it would seem like I was making a little progress.

Can anyone tell me how recent the police checks have to be - do they have to be within 12 months of visa grant etc - thanks everyone.

    Hi,

Your entry date to Australia after grant will be 12 months from the earliest date of Police Check or Meds because they are only valid for a 12month period.

    Cheers

    Phil

  13. Hi feeling bit lonesome with all these 2014 Perthsiders making social plans - I am planning to visit my sister who lives in Serpentine this Sept so could a wee drinkie slot be co-ordinated around then as love to catch up - I want to see that @HARLEYDPHIL fat boy parked up gleaming (I don't like it when they roar away) and @Dolphin1962 finning her way to the bar for a round and of course @Geordie Joe in full stalking gear still trying to spot the lesser spotted 'you know who' Kim

    Hi Kim

Deffo up for a gathering, we'll keep in contact.

Hope your 17 days fly by.

    Phil

  14. Question for @HARLEYDPHIL - sorry I know been asked lots. I am bewildered - as a CPV applicant I should be used to that by now but am more so than usual. You gave your form 80 when lodged application so now it is 2 years out of date - clearly not queried as you HAVE PR. As peps on here have been completing at various times so is immi happy to accept form 80 current as to anytime during waiting period Kim

    Hi Kim,

When I first joined the forum I was surprised that people were completing form 80 so late in the process and thought that my agent had stuffed up. So I expected that I would have an addendum to do, at the least. Also now the holiday history is only 10 years we had to do 30 years Aaaaargggggghhhhh! You lot have it easy

If my experience is anything to go by "Get it done"

    Nothing ventured nothing gained

    Good Luck

    Phil
